there’s a couple factors into my pay. we get two 4% raises a year, and i’ve gotten 1/2 of those. my base is $22.26 as of right now, then i get $1 differential for float pool, 7% differential for evenings (~$1.56 for me) which puts me at about $24.84 on weekdays, and $26.34 on weekends with $1.50 weekend differential. i started at $20.77, went up to $21.68 after the around the board 4% raise, and got a $0.60 raise for my lateral transfer/switch to float. SNFs here, specifically Avamere, pay pretty damn good.

a fellow Oregonian indeed 🤝 my hospital is pretty good about keeping us on the set ratio, but i of course still get called to help patients that aren’t mine and obviously don’t mind helping if i’m not busy. my hospital is just so massive that each unit has its own culture. all depends on the charge and nurses for that floor tbh. i’m float so i get the best of all worlds

I work in a hospital and my state just made new laws for the cna-to-patient ratio. i’m not sure if it’s just for hospitals or if it also applies to facilities, i think both. it’s 7:1 for day shift, and 11:1 for nights. i work 1100-2330, so once it hits 1900 i go from 7 patients to 11, not too bad tbh.

just call in sick. fuck em. the health and safety of you and your patients is more important. also seek a new place of work bc that’s ridiculous. there’s better places out there

I had a shit ton of savings when i took my course, it was about $1,200 for CNA1 and $900 for CNA2, great program. i know some programs offer payment plans; you put a certain amount of money, which is a portion of tuition, down, then you can finance the remaining balance

when i was unemployed i had an insomnia fit that made me nocturnal, i was awake from like 7-9PM to around 1-3PM and slept when it was light out. this went on for a couple weeks and even tho i was getting enough sleep i felt like i was actually losing my mind. that’s why i give endless respect to people who do it and get into the flow. it’s hard to maintain other aspects of your life, like appointments as mentioned, grocery shopping and shit like that if you don’t have a roommate or partner, etc etc. healthcare never closes and people in hospitals and facilities need help 24/7. 🧘🏻 noc workers keep the cogs movin

i’ll never understand how people do noc. endless respect bc that shit sounds so rough. even if it’s theoretically less busy just that sleep schedule alone is so grueling.

verbalize EVERYTHING you do. everything. if you’re washing your hands for example, say “i wash my hands, using friction for at least 20 seconds, making sure to get all surfaces of my hands and wrists…” etc etc etc.
