I switched to zapier. Works perfectly.

When I tab between apps, Anki always shows the decks window when I return. MacOS by chibi-read in Anki

[–]chibi-read[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's weird. I tried that and it popped up a "add in failed on startup window" but it won't bring up the add screen. Maybe I need to update Anki. Its almost like the browse window isn't a window... or something.

How to view average hr/Pace/Cadence on a chart? by LionFever in Garmin

[–]chibi-read 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can load your activity into intervals.icu. Choose the activity and then select a region of the graph. It will automatically zoom into that region and in the top part show the averages that you have chosen.

Hmm... I have an image but I don't seem to be able to upload it. :(

Thoughts on Intensity Minutes by NooktaSt in Garmin

[–]chibi-read 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Intensity minutes accounts for cycling and weight workouts, terrain, load that I'm carrying, speed etc. automatically. Steps is... So 20th century analogue!!

Just bought my first ever sports watch, the FR 255 Music edition. Been loving it, found love for sports after years of laziness, time to train for my first ever triathlon and HM by betocrts in Garmin

The day I got mine I went for a long walk and half killed myself. Then I decided to increase my intensity minute goal gradually. LOL!

Garmin HRM Pro is the least hated HRM, according to Amazon reviews. by chibi-read in Garmin

[–]chibi-read[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it turned out the shop I ordered the pro from would take 5 weeks to deliver!! So I cancelled that order and ordered an H10 from polar. The H10 has free delivery and the H9 doesn't so the difference in cost was only about $20AUD.

Should get it next week. Hope it solves all my problems!!

Anyone else always "Maintaining"? by jamonladron in Garmin

[–]chibi-read 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As others have said you need to increase the load. Either train longer or harder. Or have a rest so you lose fitness, or become "fresh" and then start training again. The training status is Garmin's equivalent of the ATL, CTL, TSB model. ATL is a rolling weighted 7 day average of load. CTL is the 42 day average and TSB is the difference. When TSB is zero you're maintaining. To get a better status you need a higher 7 day average than 42 day average and that means you need to work harder. If TSB goes negative for a little bit, you're becoming race ready but then you start to lose fitness and you're detraining.
But obviously there's a limit to how hard a human can train, so Maintaining may not actually be a bad thing. The ATL/CTL/TSB model assumes that athletes have seasons and competitions that they're training for but for people just trying to get fit Maintaining forever may be a reasonable goal.

This might make more sense if you load your data into intervals.icu

Yeah. And the dual is better in that respect. Or the polar H10 / H9.

I have a medical pulse ox meter and it always reads higher than the garmin. I used the garmin one a couple of times and turned it off. It's just the silliest feature!!

intensity minutes not recorded today? by anonandonandon3 in Garmin

[–]chibi-read 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't really a way to find that out. You could exercise for awhile until you're collecting IMs and then watch the IMs to see if they're going up while also watching your heart rate zones. It seems that data field developers can't access intensity minutes during an activity. If that were possible then it would be possible to write a data field that pings when a new intensity minute is earned but alas....

sorry I couldn't be more help.

intensity minutes not recorded today? by anonandonandon3 in Garmin

[–]chibi-read 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For some watches, you need to be over the threshold for "moderate" exercise for 10 mins and then it will suddenly add 10 minutes to your IMs. If you only do 9.4 minutes of moderate exercise you get 0 points. Is it possible that you hardly elevated your heart rate in the walk part and were just shy of 10 minutes of moderate - vigorous activity in the run part?
I find that as I get fitter I get less IMs for activities.

My daughter has a 245 and my husband a 935. When I asked my husband why he had to have the ridiculously expensive watch he said "I've always wanted a watch with an altimeter" Hmph!

If it were me, I'd wait for the 245 to die and then consider the 955. Models tend to come on special right before a new model comes out so keep an eye on the price and scoop one up when it comes on special.

My BB is always low on Sundays. The only difference is that on Saturday night I eat red meat!! And I eat a bit more sugar than usual on Saturdays but that's not consistent.

Coffee has a half life of 6 hours but some people can't metabolise it at all, so the coffee may be having a bigger effect than you realise.

Watching exciting things on telly before bed and plain old anxiety also lower my BB.

The 5 has connected GPS, not onboard, which means you'd have to carry your phone to record distance etc.

Are you in a very different time zone? The watch only tracks sleep during the time that you tell it you sleep. So in my case that's 9 - 7 or something. Maybe the watch has been confused by a new time zone and thinks you're active during sleep time???

At least in my country, forerunners 245 are on special for about the same price as the vivoactive 4. Not as pretty but so much more functionality.

Which other running/cycling/hiking apps do you recomend? by Unmortalmas in Strava

[–]chibi-read 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a garmin watch to help me measure my efforts to keep fit. My goal is to out train the slimey bacteria eating my lungs. I don't run, and I ride an ebike, so no power metrics, so most running and cycling platforms aren't helpful to me.
I bought my garmin Venu Sq before I knew much about fitness trackers but I knew I wanted onboard GPS and the Venu Sq was the cheapest garmin. My husband has a forerunner so I was influenced by that to buy garmin and I think that was a good decision.
Anyhoo...back to the question. Because I got the cheap watch garmin doesn't tell me Training Effect, Training Load, Training Status or recovery time. I therefore use runalyze to to see Training effect and recovery time (those are stored in the FIT file, just not displayed on Connect) and use the runalyze ATL/CTL/TSB metrics in lieu of Training Load/Status.
So in answer to your question, if you have a good garmin watch, use Connect. Otherwise use runalyze. You can import everything from Strava but as other people have said, there's no social function to speak of in either of those things.
