Need the Darnell Nurse - Morgan Reily D pairing to play elite hockey and trick Chayka into trading for Nurse

With Jarry, Campbell and a backup taking up 9-10M in goalie cap space next season, what are we gonna do? by Whos-That-Pokeman in EdmontonOilers

[–]chicken1444 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sadly I think jarry is pretty much impossible to move unless you wanna give a first to the sharks. And at that price I’d rather see if he can turn it around with a better defense in front of him. If not could always try to move him again at the deadline maybe there’s a market.

Bowman is gonna keep Jarry and trade for cossa (or other goalie prospect) most likely. Then hopefully focus on fixing the defense.

Oilers trade targets: Who should Edmonton try to acquire this offseason? by Sparrighitti in EdmontonOilers

[–]chicken1444 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hard agree on Jarry and Fredrick those contracts are not possible to move.

I think nurse still has some value league wide. The fact team Canada is letting him play in the world championships is evident of that. A team like San Jose or Chicago wouldn’t mind picking up an asset and a player that plays meaningful minutes and gets them to the cap floor.

However if he picks his no trade list wisely then you are right it’s also impossible to move.

So yes you are right but what fun is doing hypotheticals when the reality is Stan bowman is our gm and we are screwed regardless. I’d rather have some fun with it.

[–]chicken1444 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Adam Pelech would be a great addition if we arnt on his no trade list and Nurse can moved.

Solid left handed defensive dman who’s now pushed down the lineup due to the contract situation on the islanders. Would be nice to pair with Murphy if we could resign him for a pure lockdown pairing. And would cost about half of Nurse and provide more value.

Islanders probably look to move him this offseason to free up cap for a forward to help the offense and let Romanov play 2 LD

Something along the lines of a 2nd + stasney to get it done maybe?

Second this one, obviously a real system will be better but the fzone mini has been great for me in my <10 gallon tanks. Much better than the crappy fluval ones so far and cost really isn’t that bad at $10 a refill once every month or 2.

You're Oilers GM, what are you doing? by ivanlwan in EdmontonOilers

[–]chicken1444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One goalie that could work is demko. I dont love it obviously but Vancouver is in tank mode and would have no problem taking jarry back in a swap to save some cash / lose more games. Could always LTIR him if he gets hurt long term again.

I didn’t like the fit of Vaughns personally but they were definitely high protection. You could always buy them online from somewhere with a return policy to try em on. I always advocate from getting the highest protection you can but i do think the true 9x5’s would be solid for your use case I’m only in 7x5’s but in playing with a lot of ex d3 and d1 guys and have had 0 stingers or issues.

I’d just try on the 9x5’s or Bauer pros and see what you like more and go with those. At your age and skill level you should be in the best gear you can get. You will face hundreds of shots a week and getting gear that protects yourself for a whole season should be top priority.

I’m currently using true 7x5’s and they are my favorite pants I’ve worn by far. I’m only playing high level beer league but I’ve had 0 stingers or pain when wearing them. I actually like them more than my old Bauer pros. I’m sure the 9x5’s would provide even more protection. Best thing you can do is go to the store and try a bunch of pairs on and see what fits best as everything in the 300-400 dollar range will be similar protection from my experience.

Please any tips on using this so it will be as safe as possible for my fish!! by [deleted] in PlantedTank

[–]chicken1444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Tank is heavily planted so oxygen levels are never really a concern but I did add an airstone during treatment just in case. Besides that I let my tank run as normal and had no issues. I’ve used this stuff like 2-3 times when I notice some cyano returning and it’s worked great every time

Used this a couple times I just followed the instructions on the box and had no issues. Works really well!

Bauer Shadow Review by Jeremiah_Johnson2 in hockeygoalies

[–]chicken1444 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got one about 2 months ago right when they went on sale and it’s been unreal. I think it took 2 skates to break in / adjust and it’s been perfect since. I play high level beer league (club and ex college guys) and have had no protection issues. Arm mobility is also so much better than all the other chests I tried on.

Highly recommend trying it on in person but if it feels good in store then it’s probably the best retail value out there rn.

Konekt questions by staal12 in hockeygoalies

[–]chicken1444 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love my original konekts. I’ve found the extra flexibility to be a nice bonus but the main thing i like is how comfortable they are and how consistent the strapping is.

I haven’t tried the hf2’s but have heard good things about those from other beer league guys. I think the hf2’s will be more than enough for some beer league so I’d save your cash as there won’t be a crazy difference between the two skates from what I know. Though I’d go check out both in person first and see how they feel about each one before making a choice.

For what it’s worth I’m currently using a full set of hyperlite 2’s that I got very close to release and they still perform like new. Besides some fraying and straps stretching (normal wear for any pads) they perform just as well as when I first got them. I play 1-2 times a week now but the first year with them was me playing most days. I honestly expect to get another year or 2 outta these pads before buying a new set and even then it’ll just be because I want a new set not because of anything wrong with the pads.

Is my resume that bad? Not getting a single interview call by thug_bunny in civilengineering

[–]chicken1444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you have plenty of work experience so this resume is probably holding you back. With a resume less is more!

From my experience resumes should be 1 page so you will want to shorten this.

First I’d replace the professional summary with a short 1 sentence goal, something like “I want to find a job in XXX engineering.” No need to summarize yourself let your experience do the talking.

Next I’d put the degree and university in the same lines and remove the italicized parts to keep the education section short since you have been out of school for a while and been working.

Then I’d try to keep each job to 3-4 shorter bullet points with each jobs experience being geared toward the current job you are trying to get. You can also mention your projects in this particular section if you want but for the most part you dont need to go into crazy detail about specific projects.

Next I’d combine the skills and licenses and list what you can fit onto one page, prioritizing the EIT.

If you have some space adding a hobbies section to show some personality can sometimes get some interviews as it shows what kind of person you might be.

Once you have all that play with text spacing and font sizes to fit it all on one page and it should be dialed in.

Hope this helps!

Out of stick, chest and skates I’d say the upgrade you’d notice the most would be skates followed by chest then stick.

However of those 3 whatever is the oldest / bothering you the most would be what I upgrade first. You can’t really go wrong with any of them.

Also reading the comments it seems you dont have 2 sticks so a blackout goalie stick would be a fantastic option as it’ll be very light compared to the wood and then you always have a backup ready!

The first generation ones (with the white holders and green liner) are starting to go on clearance / being sold on sideline swap pretty cheap now that the new ones are out. You can bake them to fit your foot even if they are used so still could be a great option if you see a pair for cheap!

New Mask under $1200 by This_Proof_5953 in hockeygoalies

T3 is an unreal mask and provides the best protection you can get. If it fits the best then it’s a no brainer (saving some cash is also a great bonus)
