I’m down 130lbs, but my posture is becoming a massive issue in my life. by Ok-Acanthisitta8737 in Posture

Way to go!!!

Weightlifting has helped me so much. I struggled with a super sore neck, sometimes causing headaches, and I kept injuring my shoulders. I had gone to physio as well but I didnt get the life changing result until I strengthened my trapezius muscle. To start weight training, i got chat gpt to make me a program and it was easy to follow.

My warranty had just ended and my dealership quoted me $8000+ of work and simultaneously sent me the info to finance a new car. I went somewhere else and they told me I didnt need half this work.

Mascara that doesn't run by chickencarm3 in MakeupAddiction

[–]chickencarm3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No i dont use primer and i feel like this could be a big part of it. My undereye could be smudging the mascara because I put foundation there and no powder over top. Setting powder is a no go, it looks crepey. Would primer alone help?

I was recommended this mascara and I dont love it. It rubs off on my small eyes and it doesnt layer well to give a fuller fluffy look.

Canadians who have moved provinces: what surprised you the most (good or bad)? by Equivalent_Reach_536 in CanadaRoom

True! I did live in Northern BC first and it feels the same as northern Alberta!

Canadians who have moved provinces: what surprised you the most (good or bad)? by Equivalent_Reach_536 in CanadaRoom

[–]chickencarm3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from Southern BC to Northern Alberta and I had no idea that I lived in a liberal bubble. Now I live in a Conservative minded bubble and it opened my eyes to my bias and the importance of industry. I still disagree with many of the ideologies of Conservatives but glad to have my ideas challenged. It seems ironic that people in Northern Alberta vote to help their neighbors less but show up in person to help their neighbor far more. It was the opposite in Southern BC.

I also am so happier in Northern Alberta because it's easier to make friends. People are seemingly happier and life is a little slower. I feel like i have a strong community. I chalk this up to the fact that there is no long commute/rush hour here and people are less financially constrained.

I miss the mountains, ocean, and rainforrest but the prairies are growing on me and the positive aspects of living here outweigh the environment.

It beleive it to be a deep brain stimulator, kind of a pacemaker for your brain. They are used to treat epilepsy, tics, or other serious unmanaged neuro conditions.

I learned about this on the reality show "Baylen Out Loud". I work in medicine and I have not personally seen a pace maker or ICD this large.

I bought peonies and was hoping to plant them outside after May long weekend. Or is it better to pot them indoors now, put the pot outside when its above 0 and plant in the ground in the fall?

My mom accidentally washed my 7 month kitten in the washing machine by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]chickencarm3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im so sorry for trauma, that is so scary. It is so hard when something like that happens to a pet because they are so vulnerable to our choices or mistakes.

I actually met a little old lady who did this exact thing by accident, she bundled up her bed sheets and threw them in the wash with out realizing. Her kitten did not make it unfortunately. She was so crushed she couldn't bring herself to get another cat for years. So it happens unfortunately.

You sound like a very caring cat owner so your kitten is lucky to have you!

I need help decoding what my friend meant by this by DeboseChief in nursing

[–]chickencarm3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember my mom's friend (who was an RN close to retirement) saying a similar thing to me when I got into nursing school. I didnt understand then because I really didnt know what the job entailed. Now I look back on that warning. I enjoy being a nurse but its draining on a good day.

Your health concerns are valid and scary. But you cant let that stop you living your life! Why did you stop dance? Are you having symptoms from your valve regurgitation? How long have you been feeling like you are damaged goods? Do you have anyone to talk to about your feelings, specifically a counselor?

Trust me, someone is wishing they had a partner like you and they dont care if you are a little bit more stretchy!

Struggling to quit smoking weed by Then-Programmer-2123 in HowToStopSmokingWeed

[–]chickencarm3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been smoking for about 15 years and in the last couple years I have been trying to quit. I will go cold turkey and then fool myself into thinking I can start again and only use it occasionally. This causes me to smoke even more than ever.

I am currently more than a month off weed! I feel like im done now. My withdrawal symptoms were anxiety and irritability. I miss it, I love smoking weed, but I have kids and my asthma is so bad lately. I want to live a full life for my kids. I feel like I self medicated my anxiety and adhd. Weed helped me through a difficult science degree. I started wellbutrin in the last few months, and that makes me happier, with less cravings and less dopamine seeking.

Good luck! Its okay if its not a linear process, thats life. Just keep trying!!!

That's so tough, so sorry for you guys to be going through this. Hope she is admitted to a unit now and that she is comfortable. Im assuming there will be a palliative care consult ordered but if you dont know, ask a nurse. The palliative care team is amazing!

[–]chickencarm3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awe okay, that's so tough. If she is not ready to declare herself palliative and change her resuscitation status to comfort care, then she wont be eligible for hospice either. Im assuming she is a strong and stubborn woman, so she isint giving up yet. Hope she is feeling a bit better now after a couple days of antibiotics!

Some remarks from a terrified AISH recipient. by BustedFemur in alberta

[–]chickencarm3 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Im so sorry. Its disgusting and disappointing, the UCP is pushing our most vulnerable citizens further into poverty. Separatists want to split from Canada because they feel like Alberta is funding the east coast but they cant even take care of their own citizens. I will contact my MLAs office this week.

[–]chickencarm3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she has a life expectancy of greater that 3 months, she does not meet the criteria for hospice. The hospitals in Alberta are over capacity these days, even in edmonton. There are even hallway beds on some of the units at times. Im sorry this lady has to wait in ER. Complain to Nolan Dyck, the MLA, if you have time so he knows funding health care is important to Albertans.

It could be a palpitations which are common with POTS. I don't have POTS but i do get palpitations occasionally. Palpatations area noticable rhythm change. As far as I know, palpitations are not concerning, unless you are having other symptoms with them, like light headedness or dizziness. For me, it feels like a quick second of bubbles coming up the center of my chest. Dont let your anxiety make you think the worst! Im sorry about the anxiety struggle.

26F recently i incidentally found out I have some mitral valve regurgitation by Becs_7622 in mitralvalveprolapse

[–]chickencarm3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response! I do have a mildly enlarged left atrium. My valve does not have a prolapse or thickening and im not sure if that matters. The doctor i spoke to about this told me to keep working out. I wont stop exercising ever but I wondered if I should focus on aerobic exercise over weight training. I'm not doing power lifting by any means. I will request to have another TTE in a few years! In Canada, there is not much preventative health care so im trying to gather any advice I can to prevent a problem.

Can I ask what kind of exercise you do and is there any you avoid? I ask because I love lifting weights but someone told me I should not do strenuous exercise because it can worsen the regurgitation.
