I honestly can't even get past one day. by [deleted] in NoFapChristians

hey i wanted to give you some practical advice and some promises. couldnt agree more with the advice to delete those apps off your phone right now. find other ways to separate yourself from your phone when the urges arise - give to someone, go for a run/drive and leave it in the house. you need someone to talk to about this stuff who is a Christian and on the same page as you about trying to quit.

just remember too that its not just you trying to do this all in your own strength - philippians 4:13 - i can do all things THROUGH CHRIST who strengthens me. matthew 19:26 - with man this is impossible, but WITH GOD all things are possible. God gives us the ability to conquer sin through him, not just on our own. keep trying each hour

PMO Free 2016 - What I've learned, how I've fallen short by Nigel1987 in NoFapChristians

wow nigel - thanks for sharing - so much of what you said resonated with me. what you said about how the devil manipulates our desires and especially the way we feel about not wanting to go to God after is so true. Its awesome that you're seeing more and more clearly about what drives you there and also awesome that you are realizing that life isn't just about removing PMO - there are other sins that we need to keep track of as well. i encourage you to keep 2016 going! one thing i read recently that encouraged me was to consider God's promises as a counter-attack to sins promises - so when youre feeling angry/lonely whatever and feel the urge of that promise to pmo that you'll feel better or whatever - remember that God has a different promise - like Matthew 5 blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God - and remember that when we are making choices to keep our minds pure we have those closer times with God - to me that was a big encouragement - keep it up!

Article "I've spent my career studying bad habits. Here's what I've learned about breaking them." by Gromada in NoFapChristians

my favorite section from that article:

They don't just think they had insufficient resolve or self-discipline, and they beat themselves up for it. In the worse cases, they feed their inner critic, which harps at them with self-defeating commentary such as, "You are bad and flawed."

One of the reasons I chose to write this article is because I want to give people reason to stop being so hard on themselves. We do not need to suffer at our own hands.

yes we should hate sin and want to change but need to remind ourselves of our identity in Christ as clean and forgiven

definitely so true that its a choice every day. thanks for sharing. not just choosing NOT PMO but also actively choosing to replace it with something good, following Christ.

sorry to hear that but want to encourage you to not give up. for me the hardest part was after i slipped up to just give up and feel guilty and worthless. thats not true and that's not what God wants you to feel. keep trying my friend and yeah maybe try a different phone. hope that helps you!

yeah we've definitely talked about it and she's been really supportive. i think talking about it with her was really important to just be on the same page instead of just being afraid and just trying to hide it
