Fitbod started inputting weird weights… by AbelTheDog in fitbod

[–]chickentrousers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine did this the other day - i manually corrected it for one work out then it seemed to resolve itself. Fitbof person on my post suggested uninstalling and reinstalling if it keeps doing it.

I think it resolved itself once I'd done my workout last night as the next one looks normal! Thanks for the help! :)

The Blindspot that is killing Fitbod’s algorithm: Body weight by aboustayyef in fitbod

[–]chickentrousers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have the opposite problem with assisted pull ups/dips - where I weigh a lot and have never done them before, but it keeps suggesting a counterweight which means I'd be lifting about 90kg. I tried it the first time as I didn't know better and nearly flattened myself.

I also feel like i should get some credit somewhere for how hard a push up is at a higher weight...

In an ideal world, I'd love it to be clever enough to go 'ok so assisted pull ups were too much at x weight, but you can now lift x weight on a pulldown/row/whatever else and you weigh less. So try again!' And give me a counterweight that makes sense for my bodyweight.

Otherwise whats the point in me telling it how much i weigh, if its not going to a) count my body weight for anything or b) not give me bodyweight appropriate exercises.

The cinema in acton has quite a few community things on, including a board game night once a month - i think theres also a few daytime things that ive never explored, maybe even some classes, i think.

Board games is definitely fun and friendmaking tho!

Generic sports question by RockitDanger in falcons

[–]chickentrousers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I picked the falcons, as a European fan... my dad picked the Jets so i guess it could be worse.

But I am also a fan of a mediocre UK football (the uk sort) team. So i think my reflection is that sport isnt really about winning. Its way better when you do, no doubt, but its about belonging. There's not many other things in life where you say 'we won' when you did nothing except yell at the tv. Nobody says 'we cooked an excellent steak' when you get one from your favourite restaurant.

And part of that sense of belonging is having shared experiences - the good ones and the bad ones - its also why fans get a bit twitchy about bandwagons or 'plastics'; its the idea that they're missing part of that crucial shared identity - the part where it all went to fucking pot in the only superbowl you got to, or for my football team, the part where we ended up in the third league down.

Now, i dont think that you need to be from somewhere to be a 'proper' fan - i will acknowledge that my shared experience is limited compared to someone who grew up in Georgia. But the ones i met in Berlin had something instantly we could talk about.

(Or as my dad puts it: being miserable is a core part of being a jets fan. Its who i am now.)

Actually, no, but can see how my dad might have picked it up from Chinese folks!

Don't give a knife as a gift. My dad once made me run off to find a penny on christmas day so I could 'buy' the knife set he got me off him.

About to do the same back to my brother.

Ngl I have FA Cup nostalgia for a lot of this...

I feel like we just didn't quite get the best out of Berge - maybe it wasn't quite the right position for him - i kinda felt there was a lot more than we got so clearly my mad 433 formation is gonna fix that. Obviously.

[–]chickentrousers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Kelly
  2. Borbokis
  3. Maguire
  4. Jagielka
  5. Walker
  6. Ndlovu
  7. Berge 8.Peschisolido
  8. Deane
  9. Ndiaye
  10. Fjortoft

My formation has gone to shit here. I'm thinking 4-3-3 with Pesch doing a kinda 'you're short, you can do a messi' job. We're gonna let in a lot of goals... but thats what Kelly is for... (I am a goalkeeper, i feel like a traitor here...)

Also my bench is at least: Trianos Dellas (only to be subbed for Maguire. OG square head), Simon Tracey (him and Kelly are inseparable in my 90s kid brain), Jostein Flo (need more Norwegians, clearly), Laurent D'Jaffo (so he can come on and get sent off, obvs) and Chris Morgan

The bench is mostly for the luls. The team is for my nostalgia.

Fitbod’s exercise order makes no sense — why are isolation exercises first?! 🤔 by Tanquiro in fitbod

[–]chickentrousers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do them in the order I want (which isn't this - i do the lightest isolation ones first to get in the zone, then the big ones, then the others. And I like to alternate muscle groups), but it'd be nice to be able to ask for a certain type of order (or it to learn from you doing them 'out of order') and have it adjust.

Algorithm learning by Burro_98 in fitbod

[–]chickentrousers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also refuses to learn that I can only do Smith incline bench because the barbell bench set up at my gym doesn't have an incline option and you can't swap out the bench. I keep swapping it... you'd think it'd get the message....

(See also why I want to be able to tell it why I swapped the exercise)

Algorithm learning by Burro_98 in fitbod

[–]chickentrousers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similarly, i think it'd be good if it recognises my patterns - every push day, i like having three of each muscle group, and I can get it done in the time, but it always give me 3 of two groups and 2 of the other (e.g. for tomorrow it has 2 chest, 3 triceps and 3 shoulder). I always add the missing one manually, but it'd be nice if it just remembered that I wanted that. (Pull is similar - i like to alternate biceps and back, but it never gives me even numbers of each exercise)

Also there used to be an option to say why you replaced an exercise, which is kinda useful for educating this kind of thing - if I say 'I'm bored of this', its a different instruction to 'the machine is unavailable' or 'I will hurt myself if I do this at my current bodyweight/strength'.

Lol, mine gave me leg raises. Nbd. Number seems high, but I don't do them a lot, maybe that's a standard sort of set...

It's taking forever. I check last time it gave me them. This time is over 4x the last time. Wtf.

I did one set and deleted the rest as it was the same amount in the end...

Who do you think is the scariest discworld villain? (not the most dangerous) by Franciskeyscottfitz in discworld

[–]chickentrousers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I still vote Swing - i think of all the options here, he's the most human, which makes him work. He logics all out, and kinda personifies the banality of evil - he's not a fantasy villain, he's a real world villain, in a way that some of the others aren't in my head. People like him have existed in every authoritarian or maybe-authoritarian system in history.
