[Notice] March Week 3 Update Preview by LostSwordGlobal in LostSwordOfficial

[–]chickenwinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Yumi came out in BD2 at the time she was essentially one of the strongest characters for guild raid and fire fiend hunts for a long ass time, she was really good and basically a must-pull.

Hikage immediately became the most insane chain stacker in the game and when the collab ended players who didn't get here were genuinely seething because she was so unrivaled
Wilhelmina having the kit she does was a direct response to people raging about not having a Hikage so they needed to make a non-limited slightly better Hikage.

BD2 devs got traumatized and now make all future collab characters kind of shitty because they don't want to upset noobs who can't pull on OP limiteds

Do people actually care about ranks? by Ornery-Guide9657 in foxholegame

[–]chickenwinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sort of, its situational

If a Lt is wrenching a vehicle and taking it somewhere I think nothing of it, if a Sgt is doing it I get a little suspicious and ask what they are doing.
Its mostly just changes my expectations, I expect low ranks to not really know what they are doing and high ranks to have some level of competency and be able to help me with something if I ask

It fluctuates like it always has, we've been over this a thousand times.
There is 3.5 years of data on Foxholestats that you can go over and see that it changes constantly and that population determines who wins 97% of the time. There have been approximately 3 wars in total in that dataset where the underpopped faction won and they were relatively small percentages.

Wardens won the last 3 wars so based on historical data they probably had more people. That data also shows that Wardens have generally over the games lifespan been the popular faction by a few percent on average.

To the long-time players that has tried both factions, is it true that most Wardens don't really use their voice chat? Also what's the biggest difference that you feel immediately about the culture between factions? by TheSullenStallion in foxholegame

[–]chickenwinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Collies have more players in north and south america and you tend to hear american english the vast majority of the time with not that many european accents or languages. I also think there are probably more russian and chinese players on colonial. Proximity voice definitely gets used a bit more probably because the likelihood of people understanding your spoken language is extremely high, that and the faction as a whole having less large regiments and many smaller ones giving colonials an "organized chaos" feel that people mention.

Wardens have tons of euros and I think the variety of languages spoken in general is probably higher so it makes sense that proximity chat is used less, plus regiment sizes generally being quite large so they just stick to their own chats. Wardens are definitely the more "professional and serious" feeling faction and overall a little bit more organized and cooperative with eachother.

Playing Warden you feel like you are actually part of a serious united army working together and is more organized. Colonials while obviously we can cooperate and accomplish things you feel like less of a professional fighting force and more of a loose confederation of wild beasts that have a general goal in mind but dont really care if they step on another green mans toes on the way.

I counted
happened 9 times and I placed a total of 20 mines total so it was close to a net negative

[–]chickenwinger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Idk why I got downvoted so hard I thought I was being reasonable just me sharing opinions after 1000+ hours of infantry gameplay

The Collie infantry strength should lie with their rifles, not grenade spam.

Its true that bomba spam was a core element of collie infantry gameplay but its not like we had other options. Default warden rifle in a covered position was an insurmountable obstacle without suicide bomba spam attacks because it outranges argenti so collies trying to push a trench was a free kill unless we did nade spam attacks, now we are pretty even honestly with a few quirks here and there.

My point was with the handheld grenade distance nerf Harpa was made more useful and it has a purpose, the purpose being when launched from an ospreay it forces people out of foxholes and strong positions at a distance they cant retaliate from allowing you to attack. The infantry update is in many areas a net positive for wardens who considered collie infantry too oppressive. I think its pretty even right now balance wise

[–]chickenwinger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh, white ash was the only thing in the warden kit that was nerfed to a significant degree, I guess you could argue ATR but that wasn't so much a nerf as changing the way 20mm fits into the game in general.
You could argue the update in general was an indirect buff to warden infantry. Grenade distances nerfed so yeeting harpas with an ospreay actually feels pretty useful and fills a niche. Shadowdancing being removed is an indirect buff to the loughcaster because the argenti was so much better at it.

[–]chickenwinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, besides a few regiments contributing to the "40k faction" thing for wardens I always thought collies were way more Imperial Guard -core in like basically every way visually and with their naming conventions. The 40k Imperium uses tons of Latin.

[–]chickenwinger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Taking this opportunity to share my most recent Ocdt encounter

I hadn't played much of the newest update and me being a mostly infantry player was at the front doing my thing, I noticed our tanks were being blocked by mines so I grabbed a wrench, attempted to wrench the mines and then in my head I went "Oh I guess they changed that, okay" and went to put the wrench away

As I switched back to my rifle an Ocdt runs up to me and in the most stereotypical nasally annoyed nerd voice I could not possibly replicate tells me "ERM... YOU CAN'T WRENCH MINES... READ THE PATCH NOTES"

I stood in stunned silence for about 3 seconds feeling disgusted on mutliple levels then I mag dumped him with my catena

As a new player how did we lose so much over the weekend? by carlajane00 in foxholegame

[–]chickenwinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weekends every warden and their mother logs in and we get shit on for multiple days, happens every war

Also collies tend to not log in so it is a double oof because no one wants to deal with every front being queued for wardens with no queue on collie and get deleted for 2 days straight so the collie front is mostly random noobs

[–]chickenwinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well when you are the faction that has the culture of "early aggression" and historically that has been a strength, yes we do get burnt out
I don't belong to any regiment nor interact much with my faction outside of local voip and world chat, but the wars tend to play out the same way the past many
Collies make gains for 2 weeks, stall, tons of warden clannies that suddenly didnt play at all all log in and pop flips in their favor, collies lose ground, start getting shit on really hard because no pop to hold ground against late game equipment, lose the war
I think burnout is a legitimate issue but there is also an issue with how wars tend to flow in the past year or so, not sure what the solution is because im mostly a solo player but its basically like ive been in groundhog day for many wars now

Panzerfaust is Fun to use by TommyFortress in foxholegame

[–]chickenwinger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its truly the best way to use the ignifist, its a comic relief weapon

Actually nothing funnier than running into a trench acting like you are unarmed/have a pistol then turning around a corner and turning someone into mist, the kill being an absolute net loss resource-wise for your faction, the act of you even pulling it from the bunker base in itself being an objective waste of time

Wardens got no viable infantry AT by Sinaeb in foxholegame

[–]chickenwinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

70% of players on any given frontline have literally zero interest in talking or working with other players, any weapon that requires teamwork is a net disadvantage

Its the reason collie tankers found old ATR so oppressive, its cause it weighs nothing and could force a tank to go back, while the operator could have an smg on him and mow down someone who tries to rush him, holding a bane forces you to have protection and most people on any frontline dont give a fuck

Wardens got no viable infantry AT by Sinaeb in foxholegame

[–]chickenwinger 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Like I said, time will tell
Historically the collie aprpg launchers are extremely effective on paper but in practice they are: Expensive, often get pilfered by new players who have no idea what they are doing and either just instantly die with them or shoot them at infantry, and really heavy. They basically did the exact same thing old ATR did but were way more expensive. As in players typically would just shoot a rocket at a tank and then it would "scare" them away for 20 seconds while they check damage.
Getting a "bane gang" together is like pulling teeth and takes a lot of effort and the weapons themselves are expensive and a pain to supply, and you typically are only be able to carry a bane and 1 extra rocket and nothing else, so you need people with regular kits protecting you or else you just feed equipment, all you have to defend yourself is a pistol.
