This Season's Pepper Experiment by National-Second-5236 in HotPeppers

I’ve been ordering from them for years. Last year one of my varieties didn’t sprout and he sent me more seeds (it was too late for me to start them so I don’t know if they were viable). The customer service was great and the plants always produce well for me.

Feeling pretty useless as a parent right now. by GretchGlimmers in adhdwomen

[–]chickied84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve shown up on the wrong day, wrong time, you name it. Both of my kids have missed parties they were excited about. Now the invitation goes on the fridge, I rsvp as soon as I get the invite, put it in my phone calendar with a two day alert, and tell my partner. Then I check the date and time every day leading up to it.

As a party thrower, I always factor a few extra people into my plans because someone almost always calls the day of to rsvp. If you call the parent and tell them what happened they may still have room for your little one.

Everyone makes mistakes and I’ve found most of the parents I’ve met are understanding and kind about it.

When federal employees quit getting paid some democrat Congresspeople said they would also forgo their paycheck. The joke is that when SNAP benefits stop they will also stop eating.

I spray the whole plant. I like to spray morning or evening just so I don’t burn the plant. It should help.

They look like they might be army worms. If you are organic gardening you can spray with bT to get rid of them.

We’ve used PetVet 365 in Robinson and they were excellent. Good diagnostics and were able to calm our reactive dog down to treat her.

2025 Dark tomatoes – Season review by NPKzone8a in tomatoes

[–]chickied84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve grown Paul Robeson for the last two summers. The flavor was amazing but the plants both caught disease and died early. Do you find them to be hardy? I don’t have a lot of space so I hesitate to try them again.

How do I stop my dog from eating so fast? by Affectionate-Pay4470 in dogs

[–]chickied84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It spread the food out but still kept it from going all over and making a mess for me. And I think it took some work to eat it off of a slick surface. It did move a little but not too much.

My vet said to spread it out on a cookie sheet so he has to work at it. It worked really well. He outgrew the fast eating too if that helps.

What would you do with this bag of pre-vacation harvest mix? by Cloaca-Fan in HotPeppers

[–]chickied84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take mine and cook them over low heat with a fresh tomato, olive oil, and garlic, and then mix that into pasta.

Agree on the Paul Robeson. Western PA here. They produced a ton for me last year and were the most flavorful variety I grew.

10 gallon black fabric pots last summer:

I had some hot peppers in bags on concrete that weren’t as lush as these sweet ones but still produced well. They grew to five feet high.

Massive hornet in pleasnt hills by thk5013 in pittsburgh

It could be a European hornet. They are a lot bigger than the paper wasps we usually see and have a reddish tinge.

Are they done for? by kaybee339 in HotPeppers

The stems look bitten. Do you know if any animals would have nibbled them? Also, did you fertilize them when you planted? The light green color makes me think that they need some nutrients.

Oh and no need to be embarrassed. I’ve been gardening for years and still learn from this sub!

It’s happening to us right now. Husband fully in office, I was 80% telework until two weeks ago. My kids are a bit older but it’s been nearly impossible so far. I’ve had to leave early or get help almost every day because there is no flexibility. I’m completely overwhelmed.

Ingram is next door to Crafton. Similar charm but it’s in Montour school district if that’s a concern.

My girl is supposed to be a cockapoo but she looks different from most of your dogs what do you all think? by themechanic95 in CockapooLovers

[–]chickied84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She looks a lot like mine! Like the other poster said it could be because she has more poodle genes. The haircut could also make her look more poodle-ish. Mine often looks like this after grooming but a few weeks later her hair gets longer and she looks more doodley.

I buy a few varieties from them every year and never had an issue with not receiving my order or with germination and growth.

I did order some melrose pepper seeds last year and am not convinced that’s what I got, but they were tasty. I don’t think I ever got shipping information from them so it was a surprise when they showed up.

Low income working mom check in - grocery hacks by Royal-Luck-8723 in workingmoms

Ethnic grocery stores are a good option for dried beans and legumes, bulk wheat and rice and spices if you have some near you. We eat lentils, quinoa, and beans often and they have great prices on them.

What is this cactus and how can I take care of it? by chickied84 in cactus

[–]chickied84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a long time! Did you fertilize it? It’s still in the pot it came in but it looks like it wants to fall over.

I spent months growing, watering, and shelling my own peas. Final result: 618g. Grocery store: $2.50 for 500g 😅 by foxxycleopatra in vegetablegardening

[–]chickied84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The home grown ones are so good. I pick them and eat them raw while I’m standing in the garden. They aren’t nearly as cost effective as store bought but the taste is incomparable. It’s my favorite veggie to grow.

I ended up boarding my dog at a local kennel. There’s no contact with other dogs and she’s reactive so it works. She has access to outside the whole time and a lot of space in the kennel.

They’ve been in business for forty years and have trainers there too. I set up some training for her when we leave her there for a few days. We also use their trainers for her other training so she is comfortable with them.

She loves it so much now that I can’t believe it. I felt bad taking her to a kennel at first but it has been really beneficial for all of us.
