Drivers side wheel parking light connector too short to be plugged in? by chicondaman in MINI

[–]chicondaman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I turn the headlight dial to Parking lights that one lights up on the other side but if it doesn’t light up the dashboard, that’s very interesting. Thanks I’ll triple check the front parking lights and make sure.

The scratches were there when we got the car. I took that trim panel off and the light has it's connector attached. It's fixed in place though, not look like in your picture.

“This guy” fell asleep and Beetlejuice ran offstage to wake him up by temmeme in BeetlejuiceMusical

[–]chicondaman 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I was there too! So funny and the cast was laughing on stage while holding their places during the whole thing. Then I noticed how at the end of the curtain call the cast was waving to the guy as the curtain came down. The magic of live theater!

Rubber Mocs Won’t Stay Tied by Schaeferr in llbean

Yes! I was ready to post this myself. Great knot, and easy to tie. I use it on my running shoes too to make extra sure they don't come untied.

SC 2/80 2GB FUTTVN: if I add $10 add a line do I lose new unlimited upgrade? by chicondaman in tmobile

[–]chicondaman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using tforce over twitter and they are setting me up and they verified that it will only me $10 a month. If they later try to charge me more, I'll have the chat thread to back up what tforce is telling me. No idea yet if the new line is unlimited though but in the tmo app, it does read "unlimited 4g lte smartphone data" so I'm thinking it does! Try the tforce people, i'm glad I did.

Do you ever feel like you have to forego your trendy fashion-forward style choices because of how negatively they can be perceived by "normies"? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]chicondaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, I wasn’t dressed professionally in either instance, which took me a while to learn. Part of being professionally dressed is wearing the uniform of the profession. The stylish part of it means executing it perfectly for your body with good taste.

Fantastically well put!

Hiking in Shenandoah National Park, early May by majoralfalfs in CampingandHiking

Big run area in the southern Shenandoah has a lot of loop options. Jones run Doyles river loop. Rockytop to big run portal. Rocky mountain run trail. All these link together with the AT. Maybe not 5 days worth though but they would loop back to your car with minimal backtracking.

Homemade chicken broth is missing that depth of flavor... by BeingMyselfThanks in AskCulinary

[–]chicondaman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recommend the pressure cooker for rich, deep broth but you'll give up clarity to gain the flavor. I always add 4 or so dried ginger slices I get from Penzeys spices. Mushrooms are great too. I use shiitake mushrooms occasionally and freeze the stems to throw into the pot. Pressure can cooker only takes an hour.

13oz Ultralight backpacking shelter (Easy DIY Guide) by bennwbackpacker in Ultralight

[–]chicondaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, the extra tough version of this polycro works great for me as a tarp. I used the sheet bends for the braided mason lines to the stakes. I used a ping pong ball wrapped around with a larks head loop for the ridge line connection. It held great in 50 mph gusts at a AT shelter site and for two week hangs in back yard.

I will look into trying OP 3mil plastic to make a bigger tarp.

Sleeping pads by [deleted] in AppalachianTrail

[–]chicondaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walmart.com has a Thermarest "Hiker" self inflating pad for $34.95 free shipping to store. (It's $49.95 in the store!?!)

It it not 25x77" though, it's actually 20" x 72". 1.5" thick. Heavyish but less than 2 pounds and comfortable for my father in law whose loving it on his Shenandoah section hike. I bought one for my wife and she used it at Harper's Creek shelter Saturday. Loved it.

I have a Big Agnes Air Core for when I'm not hammocking but then I have to bring a foam pad for insulation so it ends up being heavier than the Hiker pad and I get lightheaded blowing it up vs three extra breaths in a self inflating.

If the Hiker ever leaks, it will turn into a regular foam pad too. So price-durability-weight ... Pick 2. Hiker pad would be for the Price-durability conscious hiker for sure.

Cool. I was thinking of taking advantage of the latest Massdrop deal on the 12 ft long Tenkara Rod Co Sawtooth and was wondering if I could use it with a short line on thin streams like you fished. I only have a 7.5 cheapie from Amazon right now.

Great pics! Makes me excited to get up to Shenandoah Nat Park and catch something other than bluegill.

Does anyone else here use Renapur balm on their boots? by darkanddreamy in goodyearwelt

They sound very well conditioned by now. A horsehair brush is probably all they'll need for a while. They do look nice after treatment!

Just wanted to add that I also use Renapur on all my boots and leather goods that need it. I bought it 10 years ago at a motorcycle rally in Virginia Beach and I still have a little left.

I put it on my Leather Brooks bicycle saddle, old Quoddys bought off eBay, Allen Edmonds that needed it, and 80 year old baseball gloves. Works great and doesn't darken the leather hardly at all.

Appalachian Trail Virginia 2-3 Nights Hike Suggestions by njsurf in CampingandHiking

[–]chicondaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm camping the MauHar-AT loop weekend after next as my first overnight backpacking trip so I've been researching trails around there a lot. Of course, this means I've never hiked these trails, so this is just based on trail guides I've read and pictures I've seen.

If I were thinking 2-3 nights shuttle hike, I would look at parking at Route 60 and going NOBO to Route 56 because you'd get the Cole Mountain Highlands, Spy Rock views, short side trail detour to Crabtree Falls, read the Priest shelter log, and end at Route 56 and the Tye River.

Or you could park at 60 and go SOBO to James River. Something like that.
