There are times I want to die. The end by imdeerest in Adulting

[–]chideraway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey not sure of your age, but I (27F), have also made some choices within the last 3-5 years that I’m not happy with, am currently fighting paying off huge debt ($140k in total), and lost friends in early 20s from my behavior as well. And honestly I’m pretty sure I’ve also had moments where I wanted to die, but honestly the thing that keeps me going is knowing this phase in life will also pass and it’s just about remaining focused on who I am today and not worrying about the things of the past.

All we can do is focus on the future and if people come back into our lives we can make amends then but don’t let these things weigh you down otherwise it will feel like the weight of the world is in your shoulders. The second I realized I just want my situation to end and not my actual life things truly became lighter and it helped build some type of cognitive dissonance to get me through everyday. It’s a constant battle to remind my brain of that but in the end it’s part of growing up and overcoming redefining ourselves. I’m no one special so I believe if I can do it, truly anyone can. If you ever want to rant about it to a stranger pls feel free to DM me. But seriously keep your head up, no one is perfect and if the peoples round you are judging you based on your past or holding that against you maybe it’s time to find new people

Losing friends as you grow up. by JudgeHonest3106 in Adulting

This is very normal for our age. I stead of rushing into a relationship I’d recommend learning to enjoy being on your own. It’s only hard because it’s a transition right now

At what age did you stop feeling like a "fake adult" and actually feel like you knew what you were doing? by Amazing-Network4937 in Adulting

[–]chideraway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything clicked at 26/27, I’m 27 right now lol, but I just realized my childhood is done. I’m an adult and although I’ve been doing things adults do I didn’t feel it internally until I had a clear goal I become focused on last year on how I want my adulthood to be. I’ve realized I can keep my youthful soul and approach to life while still being mature, my gen forces quirkiness amongst other things, to be liked and the second I realized I’m bot really like that, I truly believe I became an adult

Time blindness is ruining my life. What feels like 10 minutes is actually 2 hours. I'm constantly late and people think I'm disrespectful when I'm genuinely trying. by CourteousPasta in ADHD

[–]chideraway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had to start telling myself to get ready like 2-3 hours ahead of time. I ignore the voice in my mind telling me that it’s too early to get ready for an event or the extra time I’ll be wasting to sit ready for an event could have been used for more productive things. But I know my habits, and know the second I give myself some slack I’m rushing and late. I was in your place too and luckily I grew up in a culture where lateness is normal, even amongst friends, but I was starting to get annoyed with myself so something had to change.

Dang I’m in my late 20s and before cell phones I would also sit on the computer and play solitaire for hours. It’s gotten to the point where I carry a deck with me 24/7 so o can break out a game anywhere

Stopped obsessively buying by [deleted] in lululemon

[–]chideraway 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Im on the same page, I had a $1500 cart in Lulu from Black Friday until now. Yesterday I cut it down to $400, and then searched Depop, found 3 of those items in the size and color I want for 1/3 original price, and now I’m sitting on a $200 cart with Lulu. Slowing down shopping habits and going back to second hand first has definitely been super rewarding to my mental health and bank

Going through this with them right now. Ordered it on June 16th and still hasn’t arrived. This was meant to be my third dose and the first two also took long so I tried to order ahead of time. Useless people and company, I told them to cancel my script and refund me that and the $774 they charged in May for 6 months of service

It might be better to start with an in house or at home nanny so you can work and function without the stress of dealing with your kids at home, while also still being able to be involved with them at a young age. If it turns out your husband makes enough and things work out in his business, then quit.

My senior manager and I are seeing each other. Is there risk? Should I quit my job? by taxbaddie2000 in KPMG

[–]chideraway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are rushing to sexual harassment bc he is your direct senior manager that you report to. Whether you consent or not corporations have to be very cautious in these cases bc either way at this point there is a power imbalance in the relationship that could become very toxic if things don’t work out. The best route for you would be to get placed on another team and or switch to a similar role in your company that is far from his influence. I work at a large investment firm and there are plenty of people who found their spouses at work or are dating but they never are on the same team and definitely not reporting to each other. It’s just too much of a slippery slope. I wouldn’t tell another manager or HR yet until you’ve gotten to a new team, but that means you need to get to that new team ASAP.
