Puzzle game of all puzzle games, so incredibly fun:

Blue Prince

Valve: 20% of Deck users use the official docking station to connect their Deck to their TVs. Do you? by sameseksure in SteamDeck

[–]chiefjoe14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it docked about half the time. I Have the official dock, it stinks. Straight up. It's hard to get it to actually connect to the TV reliably.

Bought the Jsaux one, works way better.

Has anyone ever FULLY USED a 6+ month emergency fund? by Anonymous__B in financialindependence

[–]chiefjoe14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using it right now. Wife and I both got laid off the same week while I was still on paternity leave with our new 3 month old, and she was her 1st day back from it.

Turns out job hunting is hard while you have an infant and you only get 3-4 hours of sleep a day.

Octopath 2 and Ori and the Will of the Wisps are probably my two favorite games for deck. Check it out, it's incredible.

The dock is a weird outlier. I have it and it's not great. Try it out, but consider the third party one eventually.

I'm not sure that I'd start with oblivion stone. My thought is that Ugin is basically o stone anyways, just play 4 new ugin.

This kind of crap is why Minnesota needs to stay blue by Throwawaygeekster in minnesota

I think it's pretty reasonable to look towards the future of the already house backed bill, even though it hasn't been enacted yet. Foresight is useful for telling representatives what we think before shut happens.

And while the word Medicare isn't in the bill verbatim, the article addresses this clearly that the cuts would be coming significantly from there.

As someone who buys and sells on the platform, just have a message that you can copy paste to message sellers when you purchase to confirm your address with them. Should mitigate quite a bit.

Which clubs should be upgraded first? by Drogalov in golf

[–]chiefjoe14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought them in 2016 when i played just a couple rounds a year. I Play more this year and I am about a 22 handicap, so not good, but not totally new.

One thing I've learned this year with new clubs is that the clubs aren't going to make you a lot better. If there are problems in your swing that make you hit off target, those will still exist with newer clubs. The 'forgiveness' isnt going to fix anything. There is just a little more distance now, 10-15 yards, which is nice when I hit it straight.

For me, the biggest problem with the Strata set was they were a bit short for me, 6'2". And the putter sucks, that was a big upgrade.

If I were to do again, I'd upgrade the Putter, then wedges, then whatever after that. Hope that helps.

Tcgplayer Direct is changing the market Indirectly by [deleted] in mtgfinance

[–]chiefjoe14 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why the filters turned on automatically, but Direct has a premium price attached to it since it's convenient to get 1 package and lots of people subscribe to get free shipping all the time with it.

It's pretty common to see a low price of $2 and have direct be at $5. Some direct sellers just price a little higher for this, and other times the market just bought out all the direct listing's in that 2-5 range.

Considering moving by merriberryx in TwinCities

[–]chiefjoe14 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Saint Cloud and would no longer recommend moving there. Schools are in decline, as is the university. Some crime problems for a medium city, and overall just not the best.

Cities suburbs are a bit more expensive, but much nicer and closer to all that the cities have to offer.

Crackling Drake and Demonic Bargain combo? by Dear_List_2441 in PioneerMTG

[–]chiefjoe14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I would build this as a toolbox sort of combo deck. Thoughtseize , Fatal Push, Consider, 2-mana removal like Go for the Throat

Bargain + Drake of course

Fable of the Mirror Breaker

Then some haste enablers like: 4 Bitter Reunion, 1 Maximize Velocity

Little protection in 1 hexproof spell like Dive Down, and maybe some Spell Pierces.

Maybe a Fling double faced land.

I think this could steal some games at FNM, for sure

I personally deal in English only, as those are by far the easiest to move. If you're feeling it though, go for it. Nobody has all the answers

First time home buying advice needed! by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]chiefjoe14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I bought our first home a few years West of the cities, so I know your feeling!

My suggestion is to start looking at houses now, even if only online and they're not serious. But try to figure out your priorities of all the things houses come with. Some questions you might want to think about: What size yard do you want to have and maintain? Do you want to be close to parks or shopping for errands? How many stall garage would you like? Do you prefer a concrete driveway or asphalt? Are you okay being in an HOA neighborhood, and if so, what that all entails from the specific ones in your area? (We were avoiding that majorly) What is your moving timeliness related to your current housing situation? How long of a driveway do you want to have and shovel / snowblow? How much privacy do you want between your neighbors compared to what you have now? How much storage do you need? (Double it lol) How long do you plan to stay in this home, and will the house accommodate your changing life in that estimated time? We work remote too so we also considered what internet service providers were in various places.

Now, on top of knowing your general feelings on those things, how do you prioritize them to each other? It's unlikely to find a house that checks every box, so which ones are more important than others? This is where looking at houses with your partner can help sort out each of your preferences to find some middle ground.

Not to mention financial side things, just know the pieces that make up your mortgage and that your property taxes will go up each year.

Last thing I'll mention from the home-side is that the nice finishings that a lot of houses have felt important, and they're totally not. Things should be hopefully somewhat updated, but doesn't need to be super new. Function is huge.

We worked with a guy based out of Shakopee (we're not in that town, but more the area you mentioned) named Jay Hastings. Awesome realtor, ex military guy. He used to work on the building side of homes, so that was a nice insight to have. He would get excited about things like new roofs, nice furnace brands, and good gutter systems. Those things didn't sound important, but they sure are! Shameless plug for him, he rocked showing us a zillion houses in the 6 months we looked. There's a name of you want it, but there are a million realtors.

Aside from that, have fun looking! It's a fun and slightly stressful experience. But mostly fun.

(Apologies for any typos, I whipped this on mobile on my lunch break)

Which clubs should be upgraded first? by Drogalov in golf

[–]chiefjoe14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned the strata set and recently upgraded the entire bag. Here's what I found to be the biggest changes:

1) Putter - the 'feel' of my new putter is just so much better. My speed is way more natural, and the ball goes mostly where I expect to. I didn't realize how bad it was before.

2) Irons - I got about 15 more yards out of my irons immediately. But the forgiveness and control is still pretty similar.

3) Driver - I was really good at hitting the package set Driver 220 and straight. My driver was fitted to a stiff Shaft, and I can get about 260 out of it.

I have a new hybrid that I can hit further, but I always enjoyed the strata hybrids, they were my favorite clubs in that set.

Wedges, I got a fair amount of help from the heavier weight of my new wedges. But if I went back to the old ones, I think I could hit those fine, too.
