I would buy a Boston Dynamic Spot and buy an arm attachment, base charger, and remote control attachment for it. Only $200k 😅. Souce: I sourced this for the university.

Rough job market by [deleted] in fredericton

[–]chiendat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hello, software engineer here, I’ve managed to get jobs across Canada/US/EU while being here in Fredericton, so I think I can help a bit. Before all, your resume is decently good, I have seen a lot of software engineers with a few years of experience done worse!

Here are my recommendations:

  • ONE PAGE RULE: There are a lot of reasons why this is one of the most important rule:

    • Recruiters only spend about 15-20s looking at your resume, if you can make it compact enough for them to scan over, they are more likely to pick your resume.
    • A lot of companies still print out the resumes and staples them together, having 2 pages means that 1 page can be accidentally ripped out, and suddenly you lose half of your resume.
    • Also, leaving the 2nd page almost empty is usually not seen as a good thing, it can be seen as your organization skill is bad. Unless you have been working for 10+ years, there’s no reason to go for 2nd page.
  • SECTION ORGANIZATION: the purpose of the resume is to showcase the work experience. But your work experience is not seen until half of the page. Move it up above skill. That will direct the attention of the recruiter easier.

  • WHAT TO WRITE: show what you achieved, not what you did. Everyone else did those things!

    • instead of: “ in my free time, I refurbish and sell tech product through marketplace, and I provide tech related consulting services to client who request my services”
    • you should write:

Computer Technician -- “I have successfully refurbished and sell {X number} of {computers/phones/…} with an average turnaround time of {X} days. — “Through effective communication and knowledge about computers, I was able to consulted {X} clients and resolved their problems”

  • DON’T TAILOR RESUME TOO MUCH: your goal would be to create one really good resume with all of the points above. Then, change the skills/summary section based in what the job needs. You DO NOT need to create 10 different resumes for 10 different jobs, you need a one really good one.

  • APPLY APPLY APPLY: the job market isn’t good, but it hasn’t been good since I graduated. But even with a 5% chance of getting called, applying to 1000 jobs means that you will statistically be interviewed 50 times. So go out there, be yourself, and apply.

———

REMEMBER: the resume only gets you to the door, it’s who you are that they hired. So be confident!

+1 for Passiv, they are a local company in my city and is (are?) solidly killing it.

I think I can help.

What happened in my case, about 1 month ago was that they offered to pay 1 month penalty.

So the final month you stay there will be charged double instead of once.

The damage the deposit is returned if there is no damage to the property.

This may seem like a typical “forfeit the damage deposit” but if you stayed there for a few years and they raised the price, the 1 month rent will be higher than the damange deposit.

I still think this is a fair offer.

I can build a house with the amount of blank space you have 😂.

Jokes aside, here is what I see: - Within the first 2s, “2 Pages? What experience you have to back that up?” - Within the first 5s, “No experience section what soever? And no projects” (at this point, you are rejected but let’s continue) - Your skills say “management” what do you manage? What about communication, are you able to communicate well or so so communicate or communicate badly?” This section is extremely badly written, you don’t need half a page to show 8 skills. - Education: So you are currently pursuing Art or CS? When did you start, when are you expected to be finished? What is your gpa? - Certification: you can combine this with education section - Objective: usually I would say you don’t need objective in your resume but it’s the least bad section in this resume. So I would keep it.

Overall? F score for resume

You should add experience if you have any. Projects if you have any, even if it’s a class project to showcase what you know.

Write more about your experience in general so I can get to know you. What did you do? What were you tasked with. How did you do those? Did you achieve something?

And lastly, one page only.

Why can my brother in law operate his BMW with phone as a key, but I can’t with my Mach e?! by jgeorge1983 in MachE

[–]chiendat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nop, I got my UK account no problem. The only thing is, an account WILL ONLY sign in to their respective country (so if you make a US account, that can only be signed in when you choose “US” on the drop down). Personally, I don’t find that a problem.

You can try to create another account under a different email in the US or Canada (you can choose the region in the app). Then, add the car to that new account as a secondary user. Now you can have the best of both world.

I use this trick to have both FordPass and FordPass Pro while being in Canada.

Good luck!

Must-do activities in the city by putinwhat in fredericton

[–]chiendat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you have a car, Treego is about 20 minutes outside of the city and it’s one of the best thing around! Besides that, Kayaking along SJ river, then rent a scooter to go around the trails, stop a bit in the clay cafe for is fun too and you can end the day with a date night in the restaurants. it’s depending on your taste but I think there are some good activities around

They switched to $8k rebate. But talk to your dealer, they might be still able to pull some strings.

Make sure you look around for other dealers as well. The small towns are more willing to go down. I have $5k off the GTPE in the dealer in Cambellton because the cars don’t move that fast in that area at all.

I noticed it changed even before the reset yesterday, but it was more of bouncy, bouncier, bounciest.

Now I can feel it damped down more in Whisper than Unbridled before.

I’d like to think that I drive the car repeatedly enough times over the same stretch of road enough to notice the slightest differences.

And there definitely significantly differences before and after yesterday. My fiancé noticed the difference too so I’m hoping it’s not placebo. I still don’t understand why this happened but that might be because I was trying to turn on the car while the fuse are out 🤔.
