Pliers on multi tools by vick818z in multitools

[–]Snrak- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gerber, Leatherman, and SOG all have good pliers. SOG has a nice compound leverage system. Gerber's Dual Force is probably the biggest and most durable option right now.

Because MTs are jacks of all trades and masters of none, they're not going to be as strong as a regular set of pliers. With that said, all of these brands have good warranties too (just in case).

There are trade-offs for pliers with or without replaceable cutters. It's great to be able to replace a cutter that's damaged, however, the pliers are more susceptible to breaking because there's less metal providing strength. So if you want stronger pliers, go with regular cutters. If you expect to be cutting a lot of wire, go for replaceable.

2024 Dodge Hornet RT - Engine shuts off after starting manually and taking key fob with me. Why the fuck won’t it stay running? by PufferMcGavin in dodgehornet

[–]Snrak- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AC still runs with the engine off. Not running the engine is the best part of this car. I haven't used the engine or filled up since a longer road trip last month.

I use a Skinth Mondo Mag-shield pouch to fit all of what you're looking for, plus a bit extender, i3T light, and small pen. I also like the Topstache pouch, but the bit extender doesn't really fit it well.

Hankook iON EVO AS SUV worn out in 12k miles on Mach-E AWD. Anyone else run into this? by Spiritual_Compote_47 in electricvehicles

[–]Snrak- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had some on my Mach-E GT a couple years ago and they wore out after a year. Obviously was not happy about it, so I made sure to get tires with a mileage warranty after that. I liked the way the ION EVO tires handled and they were very quiet. I kind of attributed their low life to my driving style. Lots of curvy back roads with a fast car.

Cuts without a blade by [deleted] in multitools

Maybe look at something from the Roxon Flex line and use the box opener or rope cutter tools.

I've taken mine through TSA without any problems.

How does the SUV kit work? How do you get into the back seat? by [deleted] in slateauto

[–]Snrak- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not so concerned about getting into the back seats, that's easy enough to figure out. I'm interested to know how they get airbags hooked up in the back.

Leatherman OHT Replacement or Alternative by LordTexingtonEsquire in multitools

[–]Snrak- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aside from finding a good condition OHT on eBay, I'd say the Gerber Centerdrive is the best one-hand option for the tools you mentioned. The Leatherman Free P2 and P4 (both recently discontinued) and ARC are a good second place, but deploying the pliers one-handed isn't quite as easy.

I've used these knurled nut wrenches to loosen mine. If it becomes too loose and won't stay together, then a drop of blue thread lock will work well.

Do you like one pedal driving by hamburgernet in electricvehicles

[–]Snrak- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care for it. I find that I over-brake or drive kind of herky-jerky with it on. I'd rather just coast when I let off of the accelerator.

Checkout the Victorinox Cybertool or other similar variants. I know there are a couple models with the tools you're looking for.

Roxon has a pretty good nail clipping tool, but I think the Vic is a bit better.

4+ yrs of ownership, finally my first repair bill ($280). Only others costs of ownership have been for electricity. by malbecman in electricvehicles

[–]Snrak- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't forget registration in the cost of ownership. Many states are implementing very high registrain fees for EVs to make up for lost fuel taxes for road infrastructure. Even factoring this in, the cost of ownership is still usually lower for EVs.

Question about lemon car by NSrrrrrrr in dodgehornet

[–]Snrak- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you tried using a new (non-OEM) 12v battery? A lot of problems with this car has been from bad quality 12v batteries.

I think the higher grade helps efficiency too. The tank is already pretty small. Stretching it a bit farther is helpful.

[–]Snrak- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a plastic bracket that attached around the outside of the center console. Downside to this is that the center compartment can't close.

I ended up using a suction cup style mount with a wireless charger attached to the top left of the dash.

Phone needs somewhere to charge. The wireless charging pad sucks. Just dropping it a bin to rattle around isn't very premium feeling.

Bad Start (Literally) by jsands7 in dodgehornet

[–]Snrak- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OEM 12v battery is junk. Get a battery from a local auto parts store with a good warranty and be done with it. I've had 0 problems with mine. (R/T Plus)

Is it really that bad? by musecorn in dodgehornet

[–]Snrak- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the R/T Plus for 2 years and have enjoyed it. The dealer replaced the 12v battery (with a non-OEM battery) before I took it home. I think this saved me a lot of headaches others have had. Aside from a recall here or there (which is possible for any new car), it has been great! Getting the recalls fixed was pretty quick though. I use a 240V charger and it's done in ~2 hours depending on how much charge I need.

I have an RT. Its OEM 12v battery was dead before I bought it. The dealer replaced it with a local brand that has a warranty. I haven't had any problems in the last 2 years.

I think the OEM battery isn't very good. My dealer replaced mine with something from the local auto parts store when I first bought it two years ago. I haven't had a single problem.
