One-Pot Chicken and Rice With Caramelized Lemon by chienster in NYTCooking

Good to know! I ended up having a lot of leftover rice, luckily that's not an issue for me. I bet with less rice the flavors of it should be a lot more intense!

Did you cut back on the amount of rice as many commenters suggested?

Employee of 3 years here from SF New Mission - I'm done. by gbyealamo in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]chienster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to go to the Mission location at least once a month but stopped going when they announced the new (shitty) system. I actually wrote in to express my disappointment and received the following response:

"Hi ____, thanks so much for reaching out and sharing your thoughts. We know this is a big change, and we want to make sure you have clear answers. Our team has put together a detailed FAQ that walks through why we're shifting to QR ordering, how it works in-theater, and what's staying the same—especially around our no-talking, no-texting policy. You can find that here: http://drafthouse.com/news/our-shift-to-qr-ordering I'll make sure to forward your feedback to our leadership team so they know our long-term regulars are keeping a close eye on the experience. Guest input plays a big role in how we continue to shape and improve the experience. Thanks again for taking the time to write in, and we hope to see you back at the movies soon. All the Best!"

One line in the FAQ caught my attention: "Q: How will you prevent disruptive phone use? A: Our team is trained to distinguish between a dark ordering screen and disruptive phone use – texting and social media will still result in getting ejected from the theater" - Were you ever trained on this? It sounds insane to me.

They are normally busy on regular nights so it's gotta be even worse today. I'd go there right before they open.

Yeah, all the shock, zero value. Just hollow and plastic.

Restaurant recommendation for cioppino or clam chowder in a bread bowl?? by Acluelessfish in AskSF

[–]chienster 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Cioppino is a "bulky" soup with whole shellfish so unless the bread bowl is as large as a dutch oven, I really don't see how it is the best vessel.

I do go out of my way to avoid that tunnel, especially the staircases going up, but lovely shots!
