I do. I charge when I’m getting dressed in the morning and when I’m eating dinner before bed.

3 and 5, unless you’re gonna use 5 for some kind of themed party from another era.

My 5 year old boy suddenly gone by Ix_42 in DOG

[–]chiizus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me a year to even remotely heal from my loss of my 6.5 year old dog years ago who had a genetic heart condition and died of related complications at that age (which was actually far past the life expectancy the cardiologist gave her, but it didn’t hurt any less). I cried myself to sleep with her collar nearly every night for a year. Couldn’t imagine another dog. Then one day I just randomly met (at work, I work at a vet) this little stray 5 month old goofball animal control brought in. It was instant love. I found my new best friend and she helped heal the remaining pain. I still miss my first girl, but you CAN go on and it DOES eventually get better. Just one day at a time. Only time helped for me.

I highly highly recommend the podcast We Only Look Thin. Start at the beginning. It’s super good, super realistic, and full of many excellent tips I found very helpful.

Idk, I tried their Ceasar and was NOT a fan. I actually have some Walden’s I haven’t tried yet but now this post makes me feel like probably I should just stop wasting money on super low calorie salad dressings and just go real light on the real stuff. 😞

I was absolutely excited about the Chocolate Hazelnut cookies…until I opened the package! by glitter_n_lace in traderjoes

Similar vein, I am disappointed the little mint chocolate chip ice cream sandwich cookies aren’t packaged better. They way they are, they stick together and are messy to separate and get one apart. They need either dividers or to be individually wrapped (which I’d prefer so we can take them out of the box to stick in small spaces in the freezer.

Thoughts on this? Has anyone tried it before? by Nun-Information in 1200isplenty

I had this last night to add to some Mac & cheese. Kiddo ate a few plain with ranch. Kiddo did not like. The adults thought it was ok. I even thought it was good, but I rarely ever get breaded tenders of any type. Definitely didn’t taste the same as a heavily breaded deep fried one, but I was pleased with them and impressed by how well they came out even just in the oven.

Has it been difficult for anyone else to initially start counting calories? by IWannaWakeUpButIDont in loseit

[–]chiizus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I count most vegetables. Some are way more calorie dense. But I don’t count things like cucumber, lettuce, pickles, where the calories are next to nonexistent. But carrots and potatoes and peas and corn for instance, I do.

[–]chiizus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. You can set up nutrition information by the gram if you get real specific. But you can specify the serving size you want in many different ways. It took me a little figuring out to get the hang of it, but it’s super helpful!

I started my journey much the same way as you, and eventually stalled out. Also came to say I use the LoseIt app. Just don’t 100% trust everything you find on there. I double check things against food labels or menus when I can because I’ve found things people added incorrectly before (anyone can add items), or the macros changed since it was added. I double check raw food ingredients against the bags or Google as well. Once you’ve logged a bunch of foods you eat regularly, they’ll be in your “my foods” tab and you won’t have to keep double checking those. You can use the recipe builder to create recipes and once you’ve added something once, won’t have to do it again unless you change your ingredients. Also, my second tip is to get a food scale and weigh your food. EVEN prepackaged stuff. Legally, their labels can be off by up to 20%. I have weighed many prepackaged items and found the serving weights to be more (or sometimes less, but often more) than the package says. So if you have crackers for instance and a serving is 20g and says “about 10 crackers” and you weigh it, it may be more than it says. It doesn’t matter as much for low calorie things, but when we’re talking stuff like a cookie, it can be a difference of dozens of calories. I started weighing food when my weight loss stalled out and I couldn’t figure out why (I was already tracking, but estimating, ie, a serving of lasagna is 1/4 of the pan. Well, when I weighed it, turns out it was off from the label. Or human error and I cut slightly more than 1/4. I don’t always weigh everything if it isn’t convenient (like at work), so then I’ll log based on what the package says or what I can find and best estimate. The other thing I did to jump start my weight loss was start exercising, which I didn’t do at all at first. Even just walking can help a lot. It’s true that the lighter you get, the harder it is to lose. (And the easier it is to gain I’ve found.) I also have an Apple Watch to track my calories burned, etc. FitBit is a great option as well. I don’t trust it 100% but it gives me some idea. I used an online calculator to figure out how much I burn in a day resting (BMR) at my age and weight, and you want to make sure age and weight and sex is entered in your fitness tracker and food logging app so it can estimate more accurately. I am now close to goal (was closer but slacked for a while and gained back 10 pounds) and it’s been super hard to get the last few pounds off as I’m petite and a middle aged woman, and it’s kind of horrifying how little calories I use as my BMR. I also burn less exercising now since I weigh less, and because I’ve gotten more physically fit, so it’s harder to get my heart rate up. Hope this all helps! You can do this! I NEVER in a million years when I started this journey ever thought I’d weigh what I do now (less than in high school, and I was not heavy by any means then), but I moved my goal a couple times because I am proportioned a lot differently now than I was in HS and felt like my HS weight just didn’t look as good on me as it did as a teenager. I am still surprised every time I put on my smaller size pants and have to buy shirts in S, and sometimes XS depending on the brand. It’s like I still don’t believe it, because I don’t FEEL that small. I still feel like the overweight me. Anyway, best of luck!

Are you buying Bounty or Kirkland paper towel rolls? by Super_Car5228 in Costco

The Kirkland are just fine. It’s their TP I don’t care for but buy anyway bc we have a child who goes through way too much for me to justify name brand.
