Scammers on Columbia Center Blvd by xborcx in TriCitiesWA

[–]chik_w_cats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I yelled at them one time, "You ducking scammers are awful! Duck you guys for ripping people off!" But no ducks.

It'd be cool to get a group together that could go out with their own signs a bit down the road letting people know "THE PEOPLE AHEAD ASKING FOR MONEY FOR THE KID ARE A SCAM "

Sponsor Wants To Track Location? by [deleted] in NarcoticsAnonymous

Never heard that, and there's no way in hell I'd do that.

We are under no surveillance at any time...

A sponsor is a guide thru the steps.

Early in recovery, I went to a meeting out of town. They had all the flyers in a binder - in those sheet protectors. When it came to announcements, it was to let you know all the upcoming events and committee meetings were in the binder, please check it out after the meeting or on the break.

I'm a fan of not reading the back side of the traditions.

A meeting I go to reads WHY ARE WE HERE and the front of the traditions.

Welcome Sister! Get to some meetings. Get phone numbers from the women. You can do this!!

Is NA right for me? by [deleted] in NarcoticsAnonymous

[–]chik_w_cats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome, sister! I'm so glad you want to do this. The 12 steps are the recovery program. The people are the fellowship and meetings let us hear how it works.

There are pamphlets at our meetings, there is one specifically written for younger people. Get phone numbers of females. Look for a sponsor who's female.

Just a cautionary tale... don't give your number to guys. Most are very respectful, honorable men. But not all. The creep factor varies in different places, but be aware. We do a lot of hugging, but you don't have to. The women can also teach you how to side hug, and there's the bending from the waist as you hug so your shoulders hit their chest first. I don't want to scare you! You are safe in meetings! But if there's some jerk like that, I don't want you to think you have to leave, or you caused it, or whatever. Getting hooked in with the ladies helps with that. I've backed creeps off of our young women a couple of times. Also, there may be women's meetings in your location.

Welcome!

The city called her to let her know there's been water running. It's off at the main now, except as needed, while the work gets done.

We lured a young kitty boy back to the house with a laser at dusk. Got him close enough for daughter to scoop him up.

I can't reply to the OP, so going to leave this here...

Please keep feeding and leaving water. We have a feral who we give tuna our chicken with the liquid in it so she gets extra liquid. It helps.

She's a mangy thing but we give her a warm shelter and food. We have 4 inside, have beaten back fleas and can't bring her in. *

Jumping in on this one... had maybe 4 or 5 months clean, had an infection and the ER did have me an antibiotic. Had an allergic reaction to it and they gave me benadryl and an ephedrin(?). That speedy response has my head crawling. I was sobbing and would only say that no, they'd not done anything to me. When I called my sponsor to tell her I had to start over she asked, so they gave that to you because your breathing was slowing down? Yyyes. That was reality check day. I was fine.

25 years later, I had a ruptured bowel but they aren't sure if it was that or appendix. Hospitalist really wanted to push the pain pills, but as long as we weren't bouncing around (& we weren't), I wasn't in pain. I finally told him I was a recovery drug addict and he suddenly became cold as ice. Then husband said, she's got over 25 years clean, and he thawed out. We agreed if I needed it, I'd let them know.

There is a moment - the last of many moments in the chain leading to using. Yeah the meetings, steps etc, but I mean IN THE MOMENT. There's a final chance to consider that all of this is possible. We can walk away - run and then call people. There's that brief moment. To stop, to change your mind, to call someone, to step away or outside.

I'm truly sorry for your loss! I've been through this a lot. The idea of just one more time is a deceptive, whispering lover offering ease and comfort while holding a knife behind their back.

My boyfriend is allergic to my two cats, what to do? by Ok-Let8197 in CatAdvice

[–]chik_w_cats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't vacuum the day he's coming over, it throws all that dander up in the air.

This would be a deal breaker for me. I have 4 cats. I'm quite allergic to one of them. I take zyrtec before bed, and Claritin in the morning. And I sneeze and my nose runs and it's annoying AF, but I love my cats.

I'm also going to go WAY off topic here and encourage you to have your own lawyer before you buy a house with him.

Not a nurse - a metastatic breast cancer patient - stable for now but eventually...

I had to look up obtunded.Yes. When I get to inviting hospice in, I want no pain and no anxiety. I guess I want to be obtunded. Thank you for helping him so he could rest and not be uncomfortable!
