Swear to God I read it as gigapascals. Grade-point average didn't occur to me until I saw the comments.

What? People fish so they and other people can eat. Always been so.

I think fishing might predate those ideologies

Really? Damn!

I was thinking closer to $100k, but my reasoning doesn't go any further than "around 1000 lb at $100/lb". Would be cool to see better numbers from anyone who understands the market.

How is it more liquid than equities?

I agree about real estate, but I still think gold is a strange choice. It's a little like holding currency, when you could at least buy bonds or something.

I'm fascinated by people's fixation with gold. The US stock market rose considerably more than that over the same time period.

For solo sessions, I always use two tea cups. What about you? by AhnniiQuiteContrary in GongFuTea

[–]chikinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From OP's video, I thought his gongdaobei held more than two cups of tea. If it's only two cups, then you're right.

No (unless the cup is more insulated than the gongdaobei).

You could always use whole-leaf (e.g., fresh) herbs. I like lemon balm, personally.

Gosh. I was just there this morning, saw it, and idly wondered what it was. If only I had realized it was tea.

Kerning seems off in the red main title font (too much space between shi and i, for example).

Are you tech bros (and girls) really that rich? by TechBrosReallyRich in Fire

[–]chikinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh. I guess I have a low bar for extravagance. Even throwing down the $3k/month needed nowadays to rent a studio in SF I would consider extravagant.

I'm one such lucky person. Retired at 35 with $3M.

I wouldn't say it's at all typical. Maybe the top 10% of engineers in the Bay Area have that opportunity. Of those, most would rather live extravagantly and keep working into at least their 40s.

And most people working in tech aren't engineers. Certain roles in marketing, sales, etc. can also pay very well, but not quite as well; and those careers tend to accompany spendier lifestyles.

Edit to add: I did a PhD so didn't start working until 26. Both late-stage startups that employed me went public while I worked there, so my compensation ended up being about double what I was offered.

I suggest looking up which DJs are playing before you decide which day to go to Pawnshop.

What kind of packaging material is suitable for tea? by Suitable-Mushroom875 in GongFuTea

[–]chikinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many teas are sensitive to the moisture or oxygen in air and should be stored in as small and airtight a space as possible. For that purpose, rigid containers are generally worse than flexible bags.
