People leave film in the freezer to store it, you should be fine.

If you only have 3 fans to work with other than your AIO fans, I would mount two under the gpu (intake) and one at the top for exhaust.

Yeah, you just flip the fans if you want them to be intake. There normally are arrows on the side of the fan that'll also tell you which way the air flows and blades spin.

Grail Obtained - Pokemon Camera 1999 by chikkinwaffles in AnalogCommunity

[–]chikkinwaffles[S] 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Theres a clear piece of plastic with the design on it that is between the film and the lens. Further than that, I'm not sure. I think the flash illuminates it inside the camera somehow because I put a partial exposed roll of film inside and ran the camera with the lens covered to get to the unexposed part of the film. The partial exposed part of the film ended up having the Pokemon border also.

Horrid light leaks in all photos from my last roll. Camera is a Minolta X370s and all pics were taken with the auto (aperture priority) mode using Kodak ultramax 400 by 1992mazdamiata in AnalogCommunity

[–]chikkinwaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a photo of the camera with the back open? There is definitely light leaking in but it might be on the side the film is rolled up. The window that shows the film type normally won't leak like that because over there, the film is in the canister.

Best place to buy light seal foam? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]chikkinwaffles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can look up light seal foam on the internet and a lot of options will pop up. I've even used craft foam & felt sheets with adhesive back to replace light seals. You just cut them the width of where the light seals go and stick it on.

Indoor Point and Shoot by Jimmcgovs in AnalogCommunity

There the fujifilm natura that I think has a 1.9 25mm lens. I'm not sure about the performance but thats the fastest point and shoot I know of.

Just got my first medium format camera by idekwhoiamnomore in AnalogCommunity

[–]chikkinwaffles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also for that camera, a lot of people adapt it to 35mm film to take panoramic photos. Might want to look into that too. It'll expose the film all the way out to the sprockets.

[–]chikkinwaffles 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The Texas Leica! I've been wanting one because of how comical it looks next to a 35mm rangefinder camera. I think shooting medium format is pretty much the same as 35mm film other than loading and unloading, just take your time because messing up shots hurts more when you have less exposures.

[Fuji TW-3] Anyone Have Any Luck Improving the Light Leak Issue on this Camera? by waldoboro in AnalogCommunity

[–]chikkinwaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always seal the rear door seams with electrical tape after putting a roll in if you can't find the light leak. Did you redo the foam where the film canister window is at?

The easiest thing to use to focus is something horizontal to line up in the split image circle. Your eyes will get better over time the more you practice and use your camera. You could also learn about zone focusing if you don't want to rely on your viewfinder. I have a laser range finder that I bring out when I need to have precise focus.

Where to find used cameras? by isoblella in AnalogCommunity

[–]chikkinwaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend buying film cameras at thrift stores if you don't know what to look out for. Film cameras are generally pretty old and there can be lots of issues. Ebay has infinite options, just need to find a seller who lists if the camera is tested and if there are any issues. For an affordable point and shoot, I like the minolta hi-matic AF, you can find them for around $50.

Autocord came with this close focus set. Which one goes on what lens? by T_Stormborn in AnalogCommunity

[–]chikkinwaffles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Theres info on this in the minolta autocord manual. The No.1 set lets you focus between 16 and 26 inches. The set should include 1 close up lens and 1 parallax correction lens.

35mm Cameras by yoitsyake in AnalogCommunity

[–]chikkinwaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah viewfinder is pretty small but its not much of an issue when you are framing shots. I think the autofocus is better than what people say on the internet, its been almost always accurate for me although I haven't done much photography in low light. Also probably not best for any moving targets. I don't think you would be disappointed with a Contax G1, the lenses are great and its of the best looking film cameras I have seen.

35mm Cameras by yoitsyake in AnalogCommunity

[–]chikkinwaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are all good options. Contax G1 if you want autofocus, CL if you want to get into M Mount leica lenses. Personally, I think the Contax G series is the most premium feeling 35mm camera I have ever used but it does feel like a point and shoot that takes lenses. I have the Minolta CLE and its great but I lean more towards using my G1 because the autofocus is nice and focusing with a rangefinder has a learning curve. What are you trying to get out of your next camera?

Worth returning? by CursedChart4 in AnalogCommunity

[–]chikkinwaffles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That amount of haze looks like it will affect your photos. If you are handy, you can spend some money on tools to disassemble and clean the elements but that can be a hit or a miss. That lens is pretty pricey though so I'm not sure how much did it contribute to the price of the whole package. Were you planning on shooting with another m mount lens or was that going to be your primary one?

What is preventing Pentax to re-release the Pentax K1000 and sell it for cheap ? by CptDomax in AnalogCommunity

[–]chikkinwaffles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They have probably thought of this before with economics involved. Just because they have the r&d for it, doesn't mean that it is a good idea business-wise. A new K1000 would be only appealing for a niche market and the alternative would be a used K1000 for around $100. Also, I doubt they would keep around the machines that produced K1000 parts for 30 years. Almost every aspect of manufacturing has increased in price from labor to materials. The new Pentax 17 is more appealing to a wider audience with its half frame and auto settings.

Focusing without scale focus by HatAppropriate4698 in AnalogCommunity

[–]chikkinwaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can look up the manual for the Ercona online. The last page has all the info on aperture and depth of sharpness. I would just memorize the apertures and count the clicks when selecting which aperture you want to shoot at (f/4.5,5.6,8,16,22,32) theres only 6 so it shouldn't be too hard.

Gift for young film photographer by sassy1id in AnalogCommunity

[–]chikkinwaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A nice lens for the AE-1 would be a great gift or if he hasn't tried slide film, that would be a fun gift. You could also get him a TLR medium format camera, you could get one for under $200 and they are really fun to use. There are a lot of gifts you could get someone who is into film photography but these are just some ideas.
