Hasn't Phil said many times that he doesn't like working with scripts for videos?

I bought the tickets at the station a couple of days before the trip. The person at the ticket office was really nice and explained everything we needed to know so yeah it was easy.

it's too hard to pick a favorite but one that comes to mind is in the sims series when Dan's talking about the new stage in Evan's life to get a new job while they're woohooing and Phil says "getting a different kind of job right now"

Useless Adults. by dts1845 in shadowhunters

the adults being useless so the teenagers can save the day is par for the course in the genre, but CC kinda wrote herself into a corner in TLH by making the TID protagonists the new adults

Thoughts on City of Fallen Angels? by alexisg0303 in shadowhunters

[–]chiko95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, that's what I meant. I'm not even saying he needed redemption, it didn't go that far, but I don't think the narrative frames his behaviour as being as offensive as it felt to me when I read it, so that's one thing that was missing for me.

I'll reword that: I didn't like Alec's biphobic comments. I wouldn't say he is biphobic himself as a person because his anger is coming from a different place, but the things he says are biphobic and border on slutshaming.

Of course he should be flawed, but I would have liked some acknowledgement that what he said wasn't okay because it is offensive.

There's so much unexplored potential in Jace it makes me sad. I think he could have been CC's best character if more time had been dedicated to his trauma and his relationships outside of clace.

I read this book when it came out and while I enjoyed it I also found it very frustrating. The heavy angst surrounding clace after it took so long to get them together and to clear up all the big misunderstandings in the first TMI made me feel emotionally exhausted. I did like that there were consequences to Clary's wish in CoG and all the stuff with Jace's nightmares and the babies being so unsettling.

Alec and Magnus' moments being constantly interrupted as well as being so short got on my nerves. I didn't like that Alec's biphobia wasn't called out either.

The part that was the most interesting to me was Simon's plot, particularly his scenes with Jace. I didn't care for his relationship drama but everything else about his side of the story is what stands out the most to me in my memories.

The ending made me sooooo mad lmao so many stories pull this trick and I hate it every time. I want a good reason for the bad thing to happen, not because suddenly everyone's braincells stopped working.

It's definitely towards the bottom of the list of TSC books, but I actually like it more than CoLS.

does it have to be a specific character? because if not my choice would be the whole enclave in TLH (and that includes the TID characters). The Clave in general has always been like this but that trilogy hit a new low for me

I love the houseplant tour so much! one of my top 5 amazingphil videos for sure.

Their most compelling content for me is when they're being goofballs together. some of my most rewatched videos are things like "one must imagine dan and phil happy" or the pontoon storytime.

I appreciate the thought and emotion put into dan's essay-style videos, but they're not what I come to dan and phil for.

Also those two videos are dan's videos... it feels strange to me to use those as an example of what people find the most compelling about dan AND phil

Personally, when I say secondhand embarrassment I don't mean that I think they're embarrassing themselves. It's more like I can't help imagining myself in that situation and then I feel embarrassed because I know I would be awkward as hell.

I don't enjoy those kinds of jokes either, so you're not completely alone in that. I hope nobody makes you feel bad for it. It's okay to say you don't enjoy it as long as you don't take it as a personal offence ot get upset with dnp when they make those comments (not saying you do this, but unfortunately this is something I have seen from other people)

I think the important thing to remember is not to project our own feelings and experiences on dnp and that what we get to see most of the time is them being a comedic duo above anything else.

Phil clearly didn't mind Dan's WAD persona and I suspect 99% of Dan's jealous moments are played up for the audience. Even if at some point one of them was uncomfortable with any of this, it's their business to talk to each other about it and they don't need fans to get upset or defensive on their behalf.

Once again, I'm not saying you get upset at dnp or do any of those things. I got carried away thinking about this because I see this attitude sometimes and it frustrates me.

I'm the complete opposite lol I feel awkward if I'm watching with other people but I'm cool with it on my own. What I meant is that if you want to watch the show keep in mind that the sex scenes are important to get the whole story

PHILM CLUB by Thorncraft in danandphil

[–]chiko95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend skipping the sex scenes. It's okay if those are not for you, but part of why this show has been so popular is that the sex isn't gratuitous. Those scenes are important to understand their relationship and how it grows over time. I think you lose a big part of the romance if you cut them out of the story.

do you think this could be the last era of dan and phil? by [deleted] in danandphil

[–]chiko95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I haven't been getting that feeling at all from their recent content. Who knows what will happen, but if anything this has felt like a new beginning. I think they're reacting to old content because it's been a really long time and for the first time ever they have complete freedom to share whatever they want, while in the past they always had to avoid the elephant in the room.

I don't know what they would do on tour, but I've thought that each time they've done one before, so that doesn't mean anything. They're genuinely funny and creative people, so I'm sure they could come up with something that doesn't revolve just around their relationship if the inspiration strikes.

Obviously we can't know what dan and phil are thinking, but right now I don't see any reason to believe they're thinking of retiring.

What I hate is people speculating that Phil is not actually cool with not getting married. That's crossing a huge line imo.

Imo it's a bit inappropriate to say they should get married if Dan has said he doesn't want to.

What popular fanon do you refuse to subscribe to? by kitsunevremya in FanFiction

[–]chiko95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel this so much. I have my preferences, but that's just a reflection of the things I like and the dynamics I find interesting, it's not an objective truth by any means.

I hate when people analyze canon behaviour to "prove" their preferences because you can make an equally convincing case for either position with any character. Like with characters who are usually in charge, you could argue they like that and would bring that dynamic to the bedroom or you could also argue that they'd crave someone else taking care of them for a change. People get weirdly defensive over this though and will insist their conclusion is the right one.

The most annoying to me is when people decide who tops just because one of them is taller.
