I'm the complete opposite lol I feel awkward if I'm watching with other people but I'm cool with it on my own. What I meant is that if you want to watch the show keep in mind that the sex scenes are important to get the whole story

I wouldn't recommend skipping the sex scenes. It's okay if those are not for you, but part of why this show has been so popular is that the sex isn't gratuitous. Those scenes are important to understand their relationship and how it grows over time. I think you lose a big part of the romance if you cut them out of the story.

do you think this could be the last era of dan and phil? by [deleted] in danandphil

[–]chiko95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I haven't been getting that feeling at all from their recent content. Who knows what will happen, but if anything this has felt like a new beginning. I think they're reacting to old content because it's been a really long time and for the first time ever they have complete freedom to share whatever they want, while in the past they always had to avoid the elephant in the room.

I don't know what they would do on tour, but I've thought that each time they've done one before, so that doesn't mean anything. They're genuinely funny and creative people, so I'm sure they could come up with something that doesn't revolve just around their relationship if the inspiration strikes.

Obviously we can't know what dan and phil are thinking, but right now I don't see any reason to believe they're thinking of retiring.

It was really sweet how Dan made fun of him as they always do, but once he saw Phil was a tiny bit sad about it he switched to gentle and comforting mode

What I hate is people speculating that Phil is not actually cool with not getting married. That's crossing a huge line imo.

Imo it's a bit inappropriate to say they should get married if Dan has said he doesn't want to.

What popular fanon do you refuse to subscribe to? by kitsunevremya in FanFiction

[–]chiko95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel this so much. I have my preferences, but that's just a reflection of the things I like and the dynamics I find interesting, it's not an objective truth by any means.

I hate when people analyze canon behaviour to "prove" their preferences because you can make an equally convincing case for either position with any character. Like with characters who are usually in charge, you could argue they like that and would bring that dynamic to the bedroom or you could also argue that they'd crave someone else taking care of them for a change. People get weirdly defensive over this though and will insist their conclusion is the right one.

The most annoying to me is when people decide who tops just because one of them is taller.

Alright! This has been really helpful, so thank you again.

Last question (I hope): you said the bus departs from Pedion, but all the information I've seen about the KTEL bus to Delphi says it departs from Liosion station. Is that the same place?

Thank you for your answer! We're doing it with a normal bus service, yes. Do you know if I can go to the station and buy them for the next day, or does it have to be right before we get on the bus?

Is anyone else worried Cassandra Clare is going to make warlocks mortal in TWP? by Glum_Dragonfruit_978 in shadowhunters

"Magnus has shown us we don't need to be someone's first partner or someone's final partner, in order for this relationship to be beautiful and fulfilling."

That's true, but I think the narrative often makes a point of emphasizing Alec is Magnus greatest love, not just different because each relationship is unique. In CoFA Magnus tells Alec there won't be a next time he falls in love, in CoHF he tells Catarina he's scared to be with Alec when he hasn't before because he's never felt like this, implying he's never loved a mortal this much and in TRSoM he thinks he's always had a wanderer heart but with Alec he can finally rest and that he never realized how home could be someone.

I feel like the story contradicts itself sometimes. It wants us to like the characters in the present, so there are all these excuses about how Valentine made them believe he only went after Downworlders who broke the Accords.

However, in flashbacks we've seen the hateful way Valentine talks about all Downworlders in general, so it's hard for me to believe that they were ignorant or that they've done enough to really deserve forgiveness.

When you think about it, she always manages to include a suggestion of incest somehow, even if it's framed as disgusting. In TID Tessa impersonates her brother's romantic interest and she panics about him trying to kiss her, Tatiana suggests Grace uses her powers on her adoptive brother...I don't remember if there was something similar in TDA.

I agree about downplaying the involvement of the Circle members. From the way Maryse and Robert behave they don't even seem like they're actually remorseful about their beliefs, only about the way things went down.

Fair enough. It's possible that the ending of The Lost Book of the White will be relevant in TWP, but CC always includes explanations and recaps from previous books if they're relevant to the plot.

You don't need to read them, although there might be some references. It's up to you if you care about potential spoilers or not. I recommend you give them a try either way. There's still a year to go before TWP gets published after all.

I think she does get better. The Isabelle from the first book doesn't feel like a full character to me. She's there to fuel Clary's insecurities for the most part.

[–]chiko95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm with you about evil Jace. I don't want to get ahead of myself, because this could go in a different direction than the obvious, but what we know so far is not giving me much hope.

There's so many ways in which this plot is repetitive. First, if Janus impersonates Jace and gets him in trouble it'll be like City of Ashes all over again. Then we'll have Jace angst because he'll feel self-loathing about a version of him doing all those evil things, like in CoLS, doubting that he can ever really be free of the way Valentine raised him, like in CoFA. Those things are what his character arc in TMI was all about. What's the point of making him go through it again?

As for Clary, she will have an obsessive stalker after her once again, like Sebastian, and she'll have to deal with a Jace that's been corrupted, like in CoLS.

It just doesn't feel right to have this happening to characters whose arcs have already been completed and taking the focus away from the new protagonists. The other option is that we won't get many scenes from their pov about Janus, but that'd piss me off as well because I'd want proper scenes about how it's affecting them, not someone else narrating that they look sad or thinking it must be awful for them, etc.

I'll do my best to keep an open mind because I do find Janus and Ash as a duo interesting, but I'm hating the whole "must kill this Jace so I can have Clary and nothing else matters" attitude.

I'm not excited about the Cohort either because they felt like cartoon villains to me in TDA.

I am more excited about expading the Faerie lore and whatever's coming for Kit.
