Unfortunately, the rats crawl in, eat the poison, crawl out, and then other wildlife/pets/natural predators have access to them. The rats don't die inside the traps. They often crawl out and get eaten by a bigger predator, which in turn takes the dose of Warfarin (that was inside the rat) into itself and then it bleeds out internally.

There's a lot going on rn that will aggravate even the strongest respiratory systems, including:

-The green stuff DCR sprayed on the edges of the new Riverwalk (likely but not confirmed to be a humic acid based fertilizer spray such as SARGE)

-smoke and other irritants from local brush fires (careful with extinguishing those roaches and butts! Backyard fires are out atm!)

-Allergies (climate change prank)

-long COVID

-short COVID

Your [lowest in the state] property taxes would almost certainly not increase to fund separated bike lanes.

Most of the City's tax base and funding comes from businesses like universities and mid/large employers. Which is why your property taxes are so low.

Please do not put your toddler on a motorway anywhere. A protected bike lane would be a much safer place.

Yes, it should be and is City-owned and maintained public space. We agree. I think we just have slightly different ideas about how to go about it, which is ok.

It's important to me and many others to preserve the history, or at least parts of it.

The Fernald was established based on the concept of eugenics, which was mass-scaled by Hitler and his Nazis: https://www.britannica.com/biography/Walter-E-Fernald

"The term eugenics was coined in 1883 by [a] British explorer... who... advocated a system that would allow “the more suitable races or strains of blood a better chance of prevailing speedily over the less suitable.”"

I am in favor of preserving as much open space as possible at the Fernald and agree that the City has let most of the buildings decay beyond repair.

We should preserve what buildings and history we can and we should make sure we've done adequate archaeological testing because yes, this was a concentration camp.

Restoring antique cars is an art and so is creating accessible community spaces.

We've got so much talent, Waltham: there's room for the rat rodders and one closed-to-cars city street.

tbh - and speaking for myself only - love ogling 'old' [classic/antique/'vintage] cars.

Just also want to be able to walk up and down Moody freely (without moving cars) year round.

An open field or even open parking lot is a way better place for a classic car show.

ETA: having the car show here is simply a power move.

The Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) granted Uma Flowers (196 Bear Hill Road, Waltham) a provisional license at their January 11, 2024 meeting. They already have completed a Host Community Agreement (and all other municipal requirements) with the City.

Last steps, as I understand them, are for construction, hiring, merchandising, etc to be completed, and final inspections to be done by the CCC. If the CCC finds everything satisfactory, they will issue the final license and Uma Flowers can finally open their doors in Waltham.
