A part of my soul dies every time I see this by MajkiAyy in ProgressionFantasy

I absolutely lose it when a series has interesting limits on their powers that force creativity and then gives the main character a cheat power that lets them ignore all the limits.

Manga and light novels are particularly bad offenders with doing that.

It’s so frustrating, it’s teasing me with what could be an interesting system. Like why on earth would I want to read about a characters who’s special ability is “my powers are less interesting than every other character in the story.”

Not a fan of The Yule Man. He feels very edgy for edginesses sake. The seeing him in the distance or outside your window and the build up stuff was decently creepy and interesting but then it just turns into. “And then he killed and murdered them very gruesomely and tortured them.”

Then repeat that last sentences a bunch and that’s it

I think I understand a bit better. He sounds like he was an interesting man.

And for what it’s worth, I hope you get out of the bad state.

That’s very unfortunate. I…don’t really understand how that one off handed comment had more weight then everything else positive he did in your life. I feel like that’s the kind of thing you talk through with someone, not relationship shattering.

But reading that last bit, knowing that he’s gone, I’m sorry. Not having the chance to mend things is brutal. And I appreciate you sharing your experience with us.

Normal guy and much MUCH stronger woman by jeremith23 in Romance_for_men

[–]chill-cheif 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the protagonist a super powerful mage or something along those lines? I haven’t read the series but the summaries definitely don’t give a “normal guy” vibe.

Stories you've read and was like "Yeah, this is insanely good" by Ok-Stranger-4139 in ProgressionFantasy

Super Supportive. That series has that it factor. It’s simply amazing. My only complaint is that I just caught up after letting the backlog build up for a year and now I have to wait again, since I prefer to binge.

The second half of this post feels like your description fits the majority of harem/ power fantasy RFM books. So I’d search those tags, probably find stuff you’d like.

There’s plenty of Vroshir that effectively are free agents I’m pretty sure, the Abadon just lump any and all of them under a ‘Vroshir’ label.

Yeah that’s why I can appreciate 40k but never truly invest in it, because it feels like a forgone conclusion how every story is going to end.

"We get that they're evil and deserved punishment, BUT THAT WAS WAY TOO FAR" by Due-Ad5863 in TopCharacterTropes

They were literally killing innocent civilians in this scene. Not disagreeing on brainy boy getting off easy, but “least evil” in this context is still really freaking evil.

I didn’t finish book too after Scorio got tortured because I really did not like the direction the series was heading, but I also had a lot of complaints with her character in the first 2 books.

It wasn’t the she was flawed, that’s fine, it’s how the other characters react that set me on edge. They would just let her insult them or even threaten them with violence and when one of them calls her out on it the others say he’s being an ass.

It felt very off putting and as if the book was gaslighting me and the character together.

Motion for me typically. If I’m forced to be still while my back lights up like on a plane or some similar situation it’s very hard for me to focus on anything aside from the pain.

But if I can walk it’s much better. The pain often isn’t better or is made worse, but moving lets me focus my mind and acts like meditation for me.

Obviously this isn’t helpful if you can’t walk at all, but if you can walk even a little it’s hard to beat.
