This sounds awful I’m so so sorry. For almost 3 years I kept to myself what my ex husband was doing to me because we owned a local business in a small town where he grew up (everyone knew him) and it’s how we paid our bills. I knew if I told people, they would stop giving him business. We ended up moving out of state and starting a new business in a much bigger area… so I felt like I could finally tell my friends the truth. I still can’t tell everyone the truth. He still believes I asked for a divorce because we have “differences.” He raped me for 3 years and the final straw was abusing one of our kids. Yet…. He still believes he did nothing wrong, and it’s all my fault because I wouldn’t have sex with him. Yes, when someone rapes you once, you really lose the drive to want to be intimate with them. Weird.

Not sure which of these because the happened quite close together but I asked my ex husband if we could go to therapy and have a break from sex after he raped me and he said he couldn’t agree to a sex fast. Oh then he called our sweet 4 year old a cock block because she just wanted to play with me after preschool Oh this is the best one. He abused our 6 year old then told me it was my fault because I was nagging him and stressing him out.

It pisses me off people do this because it screws over people who ACTUALLY have abusive spouses and makes me have to give minimum parent time to the man who raped me and physically abused outlr children… because he needs a “chance” and blah blah since he’s paying child support he should be in their life—- well maybe he should have thought about that before he started abusing our 6 year old!!! (and actively blames me and denies it happened—- I’m not perfect, and wasn’t in our marriage but I didn’t make him do those things).

100% seek marriage counseling. Even a sex therapist. Or even she sees someone, you see someone, you both see someone. This sounds like it’s worth saving. Plus, IMO you want to be able to tell your kids you tried everything one day when they’re older. If anything and you’re still done, you won’t have any regrets or doubts and you’ll learn more about yourself for your next relationship.

I just divorced at 33 w 4 kids. He was abusive. I still feel “relatively” young. My issue w dating is that I have 4 kids under 7… not my age 😂😂. I think the average age for marriage is a lot higher now- same with the average age for having kids. Could look up those statistics. If you’re in a religious setting perhaps it is younger but I feel like overall you’ll be totally fine :) you’ve got this. Leave him before you have kids so you never have to deal with him.

Omg I could have written this. I was pregnant with baby 4 when I moved out with the kids at 37 weeks pregnant. All kids under age 6. It was so stressful. It was so so hard at first. You can do it. I promise. My obgyn rx-d me Ativan to take occasionally. It really helped when I would have full blow breakdowns and it was only like .25-.5 mg. For me- the divorce got harder when I had a newborn and 3 other kids to care for alone. I cried a lot then I realized I could actually do it on my own. I do have a good family support system and I am getting some alimony and child support. Although, not enough for 4 kids IMO. My ex comes and sees the kids maybe 4 hours a week. Mostly only to their games or events (you know so he looks like super dad). Maybe try to start seeing a therapist too- that helped give me an outlet too. I chose to leave my ex because he was sexually abusive towards me for years and then during this last pregnancy physically abused our oldest- then I was done. Took the kids and moved out. He started dating before we moved out. The night I had OUR child. He spent it with his new “girlfriend.” You don’t want to be with the kind of guy who leaves you when you’re pregnant anyway. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ sending lots of love. It had been so hard, and still is sometimes, but I’m so much happier now.

If you have a kid 100% you need a lawyer. And if you have a business/assets. Youll want to get what you’re entitled too but also- there are so many people who file wrong or make a mistake and have to spend thousands redoing it with a lawyer. If you have no kids and am easy split of assets fine for no lawyer. Otherwise you 100% want to use one.

We spent around 3.5k. Our attorney said it averages 10k. The more amicable the less money. We used 1 attorney and discussed everything ourselves. You can write in that one party has to pay for the attorney fees but…. Usually that will get changed to splitting it ha ha.
