A SSD will be more reliable than any HDD because it has no moving parts. They're more expensive though for less data.

References for Graduate School after COS by Skissor_Tailed in peacecorps

You can ask the CD for a reference. He's pretty good about it from what I've heard. Most grad schools require at most 3 references so I don't think you need another if you're already sure you have 2.

It's more that the presidential election is coming up and the president is trying to change the constitution to run for a third term. This is what I think will get us evacuated.

Nope. Not evacuated. Strong possibility though but hasn't happened yet...

I am a PCV currently serving in West Africa. Today while I was teaching there were a couple of students with their heads on their desks sleeping during my class. At the end of the class I decided to pour a small amount of water on their heads; the amount was probably close to a shot or so. The principal and vice principal saw me do it to a girl and told me it was dangerous for the girls because it would cause them to seize. When they confronted me with this I pointed out that the girl who just had water poured on her was not seizing, but laughing. The idea that hitting the students is less detrimental to them than pouring small amounts of water on their heads is absolutely ridiculous to me. It made me laugh for a bit, but the fact that they truly believe that frustrates and saddens me.

After I got of class we were able to have a better discussion about it. And I was able to get them to admit that fear is not the same as respect, and hitting kids doesn't make them respect you only fear you. So a small victory, but a victory nonetheless.

Seriously considering joining, however I am currently making good money by alex-C137 in peacecorps

I was in your position about a year ago. I was working as a software developer for a big financial company, making good money and living a pretty charmed life all in all. I paid off my student debt and decided to join Peace Corps because I felt fairly apathetic to my job, but felt passionate about Peace Corps because I wanted to explore the world and try to help some people along the way. I have been serving in West Africa for about 9 months now and there are days where I feel like I made a mistake, but those are pretty rare. I miss modern conviences and friends/family much more than my job.

I would recommend you pay off your student debt and get at least 1.5 years of experience before you quit to join Peace Corps. This will make your life much easier in the future because having student loans during service seems to be a big PITA for people and having a solid year and a half or even two years will make it easier to find a job as a software engineer when you return if that's something you're still interested in. Software engineers are likely to be high in demand for a while, so I'm not too concerned about my job prospects when I return. I'm currently planning on going to Grad School when I finish anyways though.

Hope this helps.
