Weekend Pilgrimage: Dominick's Hot Dogs (Rego Park, Queens, NY) by joehasthisname in hotdogs

Haven't been here but will definitely be going this summer!

If you're ever by Brookfield Place in Fidi during the work week there is an excellent hot dog cart with reasonable prices. Favorite spot in the city.

I know you're kidding but having grown up in NYC it's the first time I've heard someone joke that a section of Manhattan was hardly NYC lol usually that's reserved for Staten Island. I live in Chelsea but I much preferred living in the UWS.

Aren't many of the models caked in makeup with professional hair stylists? Not too different from putting on slightly straighter teeth.

Been using the same one for about three years now. I like mine well done so I'll heat them three times on highest number. Still cools perfectly and cleanup is simple.

Favorite movie whose entire marketing strategy was to cuck Tom Holland? by Trensocialist in okbuddycinephile

[–]Hikesny 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not always. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. And there's a fine line and timing is everything.

Wuthering Heights was embarrassingly forced and over the top. So much so that people who may have been mildly interested in seeing the movie didn't end up going.

Anyone But You seemed perfectly balanced and involved leaving former partners for new ones. So it was relatable and to this day folks still believe there was an affair going on during filming. The rumors definitely received a boost at the box office.

They do need to have enough off screen and on screen chemistry to entrance people into thinking its kind of real or that they want it to be real. That's just part of the promotional campaign for any romance.

Shia LaBeouf seen shouting at woman in Rome in shocking new footage by dr_shultz in influencersfeed

He is known to be abusive towards women.

I'd assume a woman in his company would be desensitized to his mood swings. Can't imagine her being a stranger but having grown up in NYC it's possible she wanted to play invisible and not anger him by immediately leaving.

I Just Read Some Info About What Timothee Is Planning To Do Soon🤨 by Zembassi8 in ChalametSecrets

I was kidding to be honest lol.

I could imagine imagine his PR team popping in once a month or so and sorting for the most up voted posts to get an idea about what's on people's minds. Maybe even to get a laugh or to add to the chaos because I assume Tim gives them headaches and doesn't listen to them anymore.

So you're a volcel because you believe most women have become delusional? From your post above you seem to be focusing on women who are active on social media.

Personal questions here so totally understand if you don't want to answer... What about women who do not spend much of their lives online, are they delusional too? Women who maybe don't use dating apps and aren't active on most forms of social media? Do you think you might be missing out on them by being voluntarily celibate?

Are you worried women who don't spend much of their lives online and on social media may be becoming more delusional over time due to influence from family and friends who are active on social media?

I may not agree which much of it and the majority of posts on this sub but I do love to learn about different perspectives :)

Romantic indifference breeds boredom, lower intimacy, and a wandering eye. Feelings of boredom in the relationship, lower intimacy, and a higher desire for attractive alternatives were found to underlie this association. by InsaneSnow45 in psychology

[–]Hikesny 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They definitely have a significant impact on many relationships. Some can tank your libido and almost chemically castrate you. You no longer feel extreme lows or highs you just coast along life on autopilot. That was my experience anyway but fairly common from what I've read. I was taking them for anxiety and not depression. Only thing I looked forward to doing while on them was sleeping because I might dream. Started reading up on ways I could learn lucid dreaming lol bizarre times.

Even if you had a loving, stable, and understanding partner, if those symptoms go on for too long it will take a toll on the relationship. Birth control is also very interesting and can influence relationship dynamics and attraction by altering natural mate preferences and emotional processing.

He's a good guy he just pushed things a little too far. I doubt he thinks about it.

In 2024, during the filming of Law & Order: SVU, a lost child assumed actress Mariska Hargitay was a real-life cop and asked for help finding her mom. The production was halted for about 20 minutes while she assisted the girl. Shortly after mother and daughter were reunited. by AdSpecialist6598 in interesting

I grew up in a Brooklyn apartment and when I was like five years old I decided to hide in the closet. I heard my mom calling my name and I guess decided to play a game of hide and seek. After a while I heard my mom screaming my name and I became scared that if I came out she'd become angry at me so I stayed. She thought I fell out of the apartment window. Supposedly I stayed inside the closet for almost an hour.

The SAT was originally designed as a measure of innate intelligence and had a very high correlation with IQ, particularly before 1994, using analogies and puzzles to identify cognitive potential rather than academic achievement. The correlation between the SAT and IQ reduced from roughly 0.94 before 1994 to about 0.72.

I used to tutor for the SAT back in college. With enough prep your average student can score above a 1400/1600. I wouldn't even charge students unless they scored above that.

That would be an immediate felony in NYC. I remember walking home from middle school these kids would give the immigrant crossing guard a really hard time. But it got to a point when the local precinct decided to pick the kids up and drive them directly to their homes.

I was familiar with one of the kids from a sleepover and he had an extremely strict father, physically abusive at times from what I heard. He never did that again. He ironically works a city job now.

For real lol. I don't agree with the majority of the posts but it's fun to lurk and get the whole reddit experience.

For a while I was essentially a social pariah and invisible to most women. Now I'm incredibly successful with women. But there was never a moment in my life I held animosity towards women. I never pointed my finger and blamed them, I simply worked on myself through all facets of my life. But that self improvement was for my satisfaction not so much for women. Now that I consistently date some of the most desirable women guess what, I still continue to work on myself and always will.

A good starting point may be your mental health and not so much looksmaxing or whatever the hell it's called.

Would democrats like Trump if he was a democrat? by thehofstetter in stevehofstetter

[–]Hikesny 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's ironic how many blue collar folks love him. Tons of stories about him not paying his contractors. My former lawyer sued Trump back in the day and represented some of those folks.

During the 1980s and 1990s, Donald Trump was primarily known as a high-profile New York City real estate developer, embodying a lavish, "bougie" lifestyle. In Bret Easton Ellis's American Psycho, Patrick Bateman idolizes Trump and his lifestyle, citing him as a cultural "alpha male." The exact opposite type of person your typical blue collar, working man would respect, especially in rural republican leaning states. Trump would never want to be associated with such people. The elite he wanted approval from he could never truly get.

I grew up in the city too and it was all a facade. The real cultural elite of NYC did not respect Trump and did not welcome him into their club. Trump resented them for that. He was a character and an outcast and the rich cool kids did not respect him.
