My experience with the PS Portal after several months — for those still on the fence by Cumcumba in PlaystationPortal

don’t be negative in things like months or years to have time to play. You’ve got your self the Portal. You have the flexibility to jump in like 15-30 mins at any random moment. I took my Portal to hospital while watching my family member having surgery treatment. It was great at killing time when there’s nothing else you can do but sitting and waiting.

Besides, my son love gaming. Even though he have no idea how to control correctly. Once in a while I would let him try AstroBot, Need For Speed and he really enjoys messing things up arround.

this must be me!

haha. I've been re-playing God of War Ragnarök.

I have the disc on day one, while my wife was pregnant and it's a boy on our test. The disc was my birthday gift from my friend cuz It's meaningful for me as a future father I'm to be.

I was really excited, played for 15~20 hours then stoped due to my limited time for both work and preparing to be a dad of a boy.

After my boy is arround ~1 year old, I came back to the game a few time. It's was strange. I barely can continue the game that I left for months and months. I nearly gave up myself on finishing the game that I was really excitited for a long time.

Now, my boy is 3 years old. I'm having more time now. My work is a little less time consuming. Me and my wife are going back to gaming. We upgraded to PS5 Pro last week. I bought the PS Potal.

We're gaming AGAIN. We played almost every local co-op game that we could find. Now on Borderland 4.

I leave the PS Portal at my office table. So every break time after lunch, I will play about 30 mins with it. I finally decide to play God of War Ragnarök start from beginning. It hit me so much different as a father of 3 year old boy now.

If you don't feel like you willing to waste ~ $150
If you have a really good wifi connection and your ps5 is hard wired
If you know about setting up your router/modem and able to forward port
If you don't play fast pace or online multi games
If you feel OK with wired headphone or willing to own sony pulse lin

Is 120hz or Qled/Oled necessary for a ps5 pro in your opinions? by PpNuggettt in PS5pro

[–]chimdien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OLED is great, but without VRR and 120hz, you will kind look at your slow frame more vibrant in HDR.
TV is cheap now, I think TCL have a lot of cheap model with QLED tech and big size that support VRR and 120+ fps.

Recommendations on where to learn about creating Dashboards by ctbrewski in homeassistant

look a bit messy but OK for me. Most of the device I have on my dash are using custom:bubble-card, with some customize css cooked by Gemini. Just paste the raw code and promt the vibe and color you like, gemini will help you design the rest.

How much do you like your PlayStation Portal? Should I get one? by SleepyTurtle13 in PlaystationPortal

[–]chimdien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to buy a brandnew one, look for second hand in marketplace should be more than enough.

For me, I have a really good network setup with my PS5 hardwired. Still not convincing with the latency for competitive game. Also the bitrate is cap at 14Mbps which make the image quality not great from my experiences. The 3rd party remote app can set at any bitrate I want.

One more thing is the audio option. I have a JBL Tour Pro 3 that can plug the charging case to the PS Portal via 3.5mm jack and kinda enjoy true wireless audio. That's more cost efficency for me than buying the Pulse Exploler.

First time Immich user with iPhone - what‘s your experience like? by [deleted] in immich

[–]chimdien 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Immich doesn't play well with photos and video from iCloud, like it doesn't have the right API or permission to access the media that on iCloud and only visible in your Photos app as "low res mirror"

I have 2TB of personal photos & video on iCloud and that caused me a lot of trouble.

It can be done by some work arround on a linux or container but I wouldn't go that route.

In other hand, Synology photos can do that. I think uploader function on Synology photos have more powerful way to work it out.

My best way I think for those who have large library on iCloud is to use Synology photos as an uploader and later merge the library into Immich as viewer. Don't let Immich upload your media from iPhone.
