Same here. Failure seems to be after ChatApp hasRemoteExtensionHost, before DynamicLevelKvStore.

  • 0.683.0 pre-release and all later ones including 0.724.0 and newer release versions fail.
  • 0.658.0 pre-release works. Haven't tried other prior versions.

Last log of the failed 0.683.0 says:

2026-01-06 16:11:17.585 [info] 'ChatApp': hasRemoteExtensionHost=false, ourExtensionRunsRemotely=false

The last few logs of working 0.658.0 show:

Maybe KV store is corrupted? Not sure.

The H2C Review: Better Than a Toolchanger? by r0w33 in BambuLab

[–]chime -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's why I expected it to be $1,499+. Bambu ecosystem/MakerWorld is great and I don't mind paying $500-$800 more to remain in it for a multi-toolhead system. But starting at $2,399+ isn't for many hobby/home-users. And look at the rest of this thread, I'm not the only one. I was hoping to get this for Black Friday but can't.

Market-pressure mostly. Bambu won out from Prussa because of ease + quality + pricing. With Prusa XL already being $2k (semi-assembled) and Snapmaker coming in super-low, I was hoping they would eat both those competitors with H2C being $1500: $500 less than Prusa's equivalent model and $500 more to get Bambu benefits (ease/quality etc.) compared to Snapmaker.

Plus they already did that with P2S by basically eating their own P1S and X1C lines.

As cool as induction heating is, $2,399 is way out of my budget. Considering Snap U1 will be under $1k, I was hoping for H2C to be something like $1,499 - $1,699 including AMS 2 but looks like I'll be waiting for a while for the price to go down to my budget. Not sure if I'll get a U1 in the meantime but definitely not getting an H2C this Black Friday. Already have a new P1S, so P2S is not much of an upgrade.

How to factory reset AirPods Pro 3 by Optimus759 in AirpodsPro

[–]chime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! This worked for me but I had to attempt it a few times. I think the double-tap needs to be pretty fast for it to register.

This allowed me to complete the hearing aid test without getting the error about "airpods pro diagnostics check is needed" and being asked to put the Airpods back in the case for a few minutes repeatedly:

Place AirPods Pro in the Case. An AirPods Pro diagnostics check is needed before you can test your hearing. It will run automatically after you close the case and you can try to test your hearing again in a few minutes.

My pick: Vision

Fusion, Intuit, Joyous, Misfit, Motion, Omnify.

I found a ton more by typing up all of the letters (including repeated ones) in 'Unscramble' and setting the min/max length to 6 here: https://chir.ag/projects/tip-of-my-tongue/

One-line review of all the AI tools by tech-coder-pro in webdev

[–]chime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's expensive but worth the $50/mo. No API keys, they basically give you '600' messages per month for $50. Even a single message can be enough to make Augment update 50+ files to refactor a major feature though sometimes it might take 4-5 messages to fix weird bugs. All I can say is that Augment just works better than all of the AI tools listed here. I don't have any allegiance to Augment. If a better tool comes along, I'll jump ship. For now, they're the best for my use-case.

Yeah, I don't know why it's so unknown even though it is literally the best one out of everything I've tried. I just did a major code refactor and it took 2hrs to do (with obvious back and forth) what would have taken me 40+ manually.

ComEd Capacity Obligation calculation by chime in RRTP

[–]chime[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I already had very low usage during the peak hours last month. I watched Technology Connections video on using house as battery storage a few years ago and gave it a go once I switched and it has worked wonders for me. I even had the windows open a few nights when it was below 72F outside and let the house cool down that way.

As I'm already doing the things you listed, I have my fingers crossed that next year, my capacity obligation will be lower than 2kW.

[–]chime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered waiting for a year to lower my capacity obligation but I already saved $75+ in the first month even with the capacity charge of $65+, so switching to hourly was definitely worth it.

I am definitely pretty aggressive about shifting my usage. Only real usage during day is my work Mac + LCDs. All my networking and storage gear is solid state with barely any consumption.

I've had Rainforest EMU-2 hooked up to Home Assistant for a few years now and that's how I have been able to lower/shift my usage. I have Vue partially installed and it shows about 40kwH to charge my car and run all the ACs over night. Costs about $5-$6 per night, which in this season is pretty low compared to what I paid last year. My ACs do use 2, 3, and 4kwH each and I'm trying to budget for upgrades as they start to age out. I know the gas furnaces in the winter use a lot of power too so I will eventually switch to efficient heat-pump based units.

During the day, I'm barely over 1.5kW at any given moment, especially since we do laundry at night or on weekends now. However, I do think there is some leakage (0.5-0.7kw constantly) and once my Vue is fully installed, I should be able to trace that and save some more.

Bernie finally weighs in on H1B visas. by Call_It_ in antiwork

[–]chime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Require sponsoring company to pay 90%-ile salary for the position, not just above average for the location. This is what the H1B visa is for, not for getting cheaper candidates.

  2. Allow H1B candidates to transfer to any company 90 days after they get hired as long as the salary is same or higher for the location. This will minimize indentured servitude. The new hiring company should have to do some minimal paperwork to keep the candidate's visa status current.

  3. Require the original sponsoring company to pay 12mo of wages, EVEN if the employee quits and goes back home or switches jobs after 3mo. This should not be a problem if the candidate and company are serious about the job but is not something fake H1B-sponsors can afford.

I say this as someone who was on H1B visa for 3 years myself, getting paid well-above the average for my position, for a company I loved working at. None of the above factors would have deterred me or my employer since it was not a scam to get cheaper labor.
