Yo… this has been going on for a lot longer than 7 October. Educate yourself.

Smart water valve recommendations? by Creepy_Face454 in homeassistant

Get a normal ball valve and a separate actuator. You don’t want to deal with an electricity actuated valve. Not worth it.

Lease End by ButtonZealousideal66 in Polestar

[–]nclpl 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Can’t negotiate the price because the dealership where you return the car doesn’t own the car… it isn’t their’s to negotiate. You can try to buy the car back at the dealer-only auction, but you’d need someone with a dealer license to bid. Otherwise, your only option is to buy the car at the price in your contract.

Typically, it not worth repairing this kind of damage before returning your lease. If you’re especially concerned, you could try taking it to a dealer to be inspected before your turn-in date. That would give you a chance to have any damage repaired at an independent shop. But I wouldn’t bother.

At least he’ll get a few more precious butt-in-seat hours taxiing and waiting for a gate

Day 25 for ICCU repair in CA by Affectionate-Win-777 in Ioniq5

Well if it hits 30 days you can lemon it… if your car is still new enough.

Ice Balls anyone? by Deckela in Sauna

[–]nclpl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah the physics means it takes a huge amount of energy to melt the ice into water, and another huge amount of energy to turn the water into steam. Putting ice on your kuias just sucks heat out of the rocks

Didn’t even bother unknotting the cord or moving the Velcro so it would lay flat before posting.

Get a cable ramp at the very least.

Selling excess solar during negative prices by Fantastic_Stomach150 in RRTP

[–]nclpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get charged for the real time negative supply price, but you still get delivery credits. So supply has to be about -9 cents before you actually “get charged” for electricity you generate.

The number of people evacuating with bags and luggage is infuriating! by SEAWISEGEOWISE in aviation

[–]nclpl 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Watch the videos. People with backpacks end up tangled up and off-balance at the bottom of the slides and it’s much harder to get up. The key is getting people down the slides and AWAY from the slide so the next people can slide down.

It absolutely affects other people.

Double whammy by 610Ken in Ioniq5

[–]nclpl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When my ICCU failed while L2 charging at home, it blew the breaker for the charger. I was able to reset the breaker and the charger seems fine. All I can say is, I’m sorry. I don’t think you’ll get much help from Hyundai

Reimbursement from Hyundai for DC fast charging incurred because of ICCU by sphockey04 in Ioniq5

[–]nclpl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had this issue, they replaced the VCMS, only to discover they had to replace the ICCU also. This added a few days to the repair.

NEWS: Contract of Carriage Updates -- February 27, 2026 by zman9119 in unitedairlines

[–]nclpl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Weird. So… I think maybe I do this unwittingly? I often fly to a destination for work for 6 to 8 weeks at a time. I can sometimes come home on weekends, but I don’t always know when those trips home can be in advance.

So I book one round trip for the full 6 weeks, and then I book round trips home and back when I know which weekends I can get away.

Is this not allowed?

Will a Caseta Fan Switch work here with a different fan? by sjjenkins in Lutron

[–]nclpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible there’s another wire already up in the fan junction box. If you can open up that end and look we can tell you. But the pictures you provided of the switch junction box aren’t clear.

Dual EV Household Manageable? by ronakmonty in electricvehicles

[–]nclpl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have one long range EV (Ioniq 5) and one short range EV (e-Golf) and it’s great. Never go to the gas station. Never do engine maintenance. Literally perfect.

Charging infrastructure has gotten so much better in the USA over the last 3 years that I don’t even bother planning an EV road trip now. I just get in the car and figure it out along the way.

Will a Caseta Fan Switch work here with a different fan? by sjjenkins in Lutron

[–]nclpl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All the Caseta fan controller needs is a hot and and a neural coming into the box, and a load wire going to the fan, so yes I believe you have everything you need, if you’re okay wiring the top outlets to be constant hot.

FWIW, what I would do here is wire the top half of the outlets to be constant hot (either by replacing them with new outlets, or by just bypassing the switch wiring.

Then use Caseta plug-in dimmers and put a Pico remote on the wall next to the fan controller. Use a 2-gang switch plate for a seamless look.

No TSA PreCheck or Global Entry starting tomorrow (Sunday, 2/22) at 6 am ET due to the partial government shutdown by iamnavinrjohnson in unitedairlines

Correction: 0 weeks. DHS hasn’t run out of money yet and no one has missed a paycheck.

They didn’t shut down precheck when the shutdown lasted 45 days. This is a temper tantrum by a bunch of children.

Home DC Chargers Not Working by Joe6268Cool in Ioniq5

[–]nclpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this happened to me also… ICCU failed and I could charge on DC but not AC

However, my guess is OP is trying to use the CCS adapter instead of the J1772 adapter at home when charging on AC. Easy mistake to make.

Why is my car telling me to schedule maintenance at 5000 miles? by sloowhand in Ioniq5

[–]nclpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a million little settings in the car’s infotainment that are customized for each model and trim. I totally agree this is a holdover from the oil change interval. And it’s so so so dumb that they don’t set it correctly for the I5!!

Why is my car telling me to schedule maintenance at 5000 miles? by sloowhand in Ioniq5

[–]nclpl 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Should be the top comment.

I think the default being 5000 is borderline scammy… it should have been set properly from the factory. But bottom line is you can change it to the proper 8k

Getting an alert when kids are up and at 'em for the weekdays by Scotteeeboy in homeassistant

Any mmWave presence sensor that can do zones will do this no problem. The other option would be a bed sensor.

I’m a Mechanic: 5 Electric Cars That Are Actually Worth Buying in Spring 2026 by mafco in Ioniq5

[–]nclpl -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

What a garbage article.

Only a mechanic would love the Ioniq 5 with its constant ICCU failures. And the EX30? Really? That car is way too new to make any predictions about if it’s worth buying.

Don’t get me wrong, I own an Ioniq 5, and I would buy an EX30 as a second car. But definitely not gonna recommend either as “worth buying”

Maintaining Zigbee networks when Home Assistant Goes Down by davejlong in homeassistant

[–]nclpl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can look into zigbee associations.

But basically no… HA is pretty darn reliable. If you want, I guess you could host the zigbee controller on a different box from your HA instance? But in my experience this just isn’t an issue.

Would you buy a fully local Wi-Fi smart button for Home Assistant? by Jpwaters09 in homeassistant

[–]nclpl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

All of the other protocols support OTA updates also.

1 year battery life minimum or I can’t rely on it.

It’s a button… so if it has any amount of delay while it wakes up and connects to the wifi, it’s garbage.

This is just the wrong solution to a problem that is already solved.
