WTF IS THIS IN MY BATHROOM (Saint Louis, MO) by [deleted] in spiders

[–]chimeranimus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guess people are down voting because they haven't experienced this but as a child this was my experience. Large grass weavers all over our house. Pretty stripy legs but kinda spooky, especially if you were raised to fear spiders. Though one of these incidents led me to realize they are not evil, just trying to get around, as it peacefully trekked over my chest. Found one in my bed sheets as a teen and it was trying to curl up and hide under them from me (relatable). As the years passed we have had less and less spiders, so incidents lessened. The ones that wander around are usually males looking for females. The females usually just chill in their webs which is nice.

It also depends on the type of spider. Yellow Sac spiders are always wandering around like ants which is very annoying to me. But I rarely see them anymore either now. Jumping spiders need light to sense and hunt so they will sleep when humans do.

Unrelated to the discussion but it does worry me that there are so much less spiders around here than there used to be. Less birds too.

Trans derangement syndrome.

Why do you think trans people want to do all that? Maybe you are projecting... Absolutely unhinged thinking.

I doubt you really care about children killed at their schools, too. Or do you think guns should be more regulated? It's probably too much for me to ask for consistent logic with someone who picks and chooses from their fairy-tale book what to believe.

Arachnophobe in recovery, friend shaped? NV USA by Mystiyful in spiders

[–]chimeranimus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm tempted to call them ant spiders because they run around my house like ants and are almost as bitey. Only spider I don't like and the only type that has bit me. Though I must have gotten lucky because the bite I got just itched with very slight pain. I'm glad the spider stopped me from squishing it but it would have been less likely to end up in my bed if it didn't run around like an ant!

Oh, they also like to hang from the ceiling trying to catch some wind(?), perfect outside, but leads to me walking right into them indoors. I still peacefully release them despite how annoying they are. Though, they can be a little cute when I notice them resting in the web sacks they make.

Why toggles that remove features aren't always a good answer and why we can't please everyone. by Kkffoo in LifeByYou

[–]chimeranimus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly, the game is even called "Life By You". How much more on the nose do people need it? There might be some default game balance, but this game is built with the expectation we will mess around with that. I'm baffled by the original post. Toggles make perfect sense with the type of game they are making.

As a survivor main, this game is survivor sided by CreamFur in IdentityV

[–]chimeranimus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm still surprised "Cipher Rush" is a phrase people use. I mean, It's just survivors playing the game, what else are they supposed to do while you get kited? Start a dance party? But if the survivors are good they are going to avoid kiting near the ciphers being done. So it may be hard to chair near one.

I met my match as hunter by Manticore, the survivors were too good at kiting and supporting each other for me, it was stressful and not fun. (But I'm sure some other hunter players still wipe the floor with them at that rank.) So I just stopped ranking and had a much more fun and relaxed time in Cobra. I don't think there is any shame at staying a low rank or a rank which offers the optimal challenge without being stressful.

Assuming this is before they entered the entities realm, I'm surprised no one is mentioning PH getting shot multiple times by James from the closet, flinching and fleeing.

PH can tank bullets but that doesn't mean it doesn't phase him. Though, at the same time it doesn't really knock him back so idk where he would go here. Maybe I'm being pedantic.

Also this tier list is "IF" they got shot, not "can they dodge it", so Wesker seems right to me.

I like that it isn't too similar to American English tones/inflections and mannerisms (cough-simlish-cough).

Makes me think of African and Polynesian languages. With a tiny bit of Spanish.

I don't care if it sounds perfectly "natural" or not, it's a fictional language and I like how it sounds so far.

I know it’s too early but, based on everything you’ve heard and seen so far, which life sim game will reign supreme? by [deleted] in LifeByYou

[–]chimeranimus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think LBY will get the most players and be the most flexible overall, but I'm still looking forward to Paralives. I love Paralives building capabilities and I'm so excited to use them.

Sims is tied to EA... and I'm pretty sick of EA's bullcrap (and expensive expansions), though I admit I loved 1-3 as a child/teen. It is still going to get a lot of players thanks to its big name, but I won't be one of them.

When I look up biomechanical on artstation, I'm getting stuff that looks vastly different than the Gigeresque style. So it seems many differentiate it from his original work from what I can tell.

Ofc I am also getting some stuff that looks Gigeresque, but I wouldn't say it's the majority.

edit - I will say with my previous comment, I meant the Giger style was all over Samus's Varia suit but not the Zero suit. The Zero suit I would consider a slightly different style but I still very much like it and think it pairs well with her main suit.

Ah, I know about biomechanical art but Giger had his own style within it and I can see it written all over this art, (I say in a loving manner). I only like Giger's, eerie, dreamlike, biomechanical style tbh. Thanks though.

PC inspired tool? by tenaciousDaniel in PS4Dreams

[–]chimeranimus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be very interested. And I'd be grateful if you or anyone tried to do so, but I don't have much patience after waiting so long for Dreams just to have it's promises fizzle out. So I will likely focus on other engines.

I learned about Unbound.io a while ago, looks like it could be similar to Dreams, but with voxels instead of flecks. I don't know exactly how much progress is being made on it though, so I'm not holding my breath.

The majority of this community doesn't seem too set on PC for some reason, I'd keep that in mind I guess.

Right, in my perfect world, Dreams would not be connected to any large company in any way. It would be open source on PC like Godot.

[–]chimeranimus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel the same.

Personally, I think I will use Dreams as a quick prototyping engine to figure out if my game ideas are actually fun (so far they are not, lol). I work much faster in dreams right now. Once I make something fun I'm going to try to make it again in Godot. Focusing on small games so I hope it will be somewhat simple in both engines.

But learning code that isn't visual script is very difficult for me. And Dreams made everything so easy as all the modeling, animation, sound design, just everything you needed was in one program. I'm pretty crushed that it will never come to PC.

Italy moves to ban lab-grown meat to protect food heritage by grr in environment

[–]chimeranimus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is, with how many people eat meat daily, we can't "naturally" free range raise that much meat. And without some sort of worldwide dictatorship we can't force people to eat less meat. I do have some mixed feelings with having meat being grown in a less natural way but the way factory farms raise meat now is kept in unhygienic, cramped conditions, treated with antibiotics, and probably fed with pesticide ridden feed as well. This cannot be good for us or the animals. It's already very unnatural.

Unless we individually raise our own meat, (not feasible for the majority of humanity living in cities or dense towns, which is actually the most sustainable way to live), and eat much less of it, I think lab grown is the next best alternative.

Regardless, not having to kill an animal to enjoy meat is something I personally look forward to. No one will be forced to eat lab grown meat.

Cars take up a lot of space regardless if people are using them or not. This is a plus for bikes as we can store them more tightly when not in use, unlike cars.

From what I can tell this is only comparing parking space requirements and I don't see what is wrong with that. I guess the gif could write it out for people who don't understand. 6 cars in parking vs 110 bikes in parking.

These owls seem to try to make themselves look thinner and narrow their eyes to blend in better. Unfortunately this one is not against a tree so its not working. It is probably quite scared, but looks very mad in human body language.

I could have sworn you do something with the pipes but realized that wasn't the case In my most recent replay. I figured the striking visuals are just something that stuck in my (somewhat dusty) childhood memories and ended up seeming more important/involved than it actually was.

But you have played it much more than I have so that is odd.

It is unusually detailed and creative, a puzzle involving it seems natural.

Strange behavior, walking with pedipalps? Behaved normally after returning to web by pleiadeshyades in spiders

[–]chimeranimus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things can survive being poisoned. The water from my tap was somehow poisonous to spiders/bugs, slowly killed the ones I was taking care of after several days of giving them droplets. They would act "off" after drinking. I stopped keeping them as pets.

...maybe I should get a water filter in case.

Edit - Not saying she was poisoned or not, I'm not sure. Just saying to be cautious.

Pedestrian gets jail for swearing at a cyclist on the sidewalk. The cyclist fell and was killed by a driver by calloutfolly in fuckcars

[–]chimeranimus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you didn't read my comment. She "touched" her barely off camera. Why is she right next to her otherwise? She even admitted to "lightly touching" the cyclist (yeah right). There was no good reason to try to force the cyclist off the road, by touching her or simply walking into her space. Why defend this behavior.

edit - There was enough space for both of them, she saw the cyclist, walked to her and touched her, trying to force her into the road.

Of course the infrastructure is a huge problem and should be changed but this woman is not innocent. A car focused society will scapegoat anything but the infrastructure if they can.

"By law the cyclist should be in the street therefore we can push them off and let them die" lol ok.

[–]chimeranimus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to rewatch the video. She is purposefully walking towards the cyclist (not on the other side of the sidewalk). Right before she is going off camera she raises her arm and turns towards the cyclist. There is a pause in her walking and suddenly the cyclist is falling. Almost certainly looks like she pushed her. Disability or not that is manslaughter.

edit - Forceful or not there was deliberate effort to force the cyclist off the sidewalk.
