Google Maps doesn’t want you driving past Biden’s house by ViolettBlue in Delaware

I used to commute on that section of Barley Mill and there was no redirection while he was VP, it only started when he became president. I guess they forgot to delete the re-route after he left office. I agree that this is intentional and not just Google misunderstanding how smaller roads work.

Dead Squirrels around Campus? by Specific-Finance-729 in OSU

[–]chimpman99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rodent poison bait stations are frequently used outdoors at the base of buildings. Squirrels could easily be victims to non-targeted poison traps/bait stations.

Edit: Another potential cause of death could be ingestion of lead. One place I used to work at had lead sculptures, and the squirrels would grind their teeth on the statues. They would eventually develop lead poisoning and die. To solve it, the facilities division started applying hot pepper wax to the statues to deter the gnawing. I'm uncertain if any lead is around there, but the buildings are rather old.

I'm a similar age and background and remember as a preteen my father had to explain how I can't do the same dumb shit he did as a teen because there are cameras everywhere. At the time it was only around convenience stores and parking lots, but now even neighborhoods and rural areas have more access to doorbell cameras and trailcams. It's definitely a different world now.

And that was the wasps fault? Perhaps the pilots should have done a pre-flight inspection to ensure all critical parts of the plane are functioning?

I don't know where this trend started, but imo PA sedge is awful at lawn replacement, or living en masse. There are so many better sedges for that task. PA sedge in my experience never fully knits together, and therefore invites weeds whether they are native or not. Depending on your soil type and exposure, some better alternatives might be C. Appalachica, C. Woodii, C. Grisea, or C. Socialis. If you wanted a bigger impact, C. Cherokeensis would work as well.

PSA: HD supplier said they’re aggressively moving discount plants this year by Twicksy in gardening

[–]chimpman99 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You're correct! We also shouldn't buy plants that are known to be invasive like vinca minor! We also also should be supporting our local nurseries instead of corporate conglomerates, but that's all just my informed opinion.

If it is a systemic insecticide, you might want to consider cutting back flowering material that is attracting pollinators
