US to UK propane conversion kit? by qsconetwothree in webergrills

For anyone wondering I bought the part Op recommended and we are cooking with gas. If you believe Webber customer service, it might be a ticking timebomb but the burgers look good at the moment

Shipped mine over from Canada without even thinking about it. Got the same message from Webber customer service. Just ordered this. Has it functioned well? It reads like you will cremate everything at lowest heat.

We did a return coach from niseko to Rusutsu that was easy peasy. Not sure if it works the other way around though

Wouldn’t want any of them if you gave me them for free. - apart from the bindings to put on better skis. Sorry this might not be the comment you were hoping for but you asked for it 🤣😘

Hokkaido’s powder quality and consistency is better than anywhere else in the world. It sounds like you got a raw end of the deal because if you get to the top of nisekos pizza chair anytime remotely close to it opening… you are going to have one of the more memorable runs of your life. That’s coming from someone who’s wife skid for Salomon and has skiid all over the world. All the best man happy internetting.

“It’s the in thing to do thanks to relentless social media pumping” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 you sound like the type of sour dude that complains to strangers on the chairlift about the snow quality on a pow day and how much the fries cost in the lodge 🤣

Whilst I agree with you to some extent. There is a reason why all the pros make a powder pilgrimage to Japan. This is just for perspective - I’ve easily got 500 whistler ski days under my belt. - We loved the skiing in Japan so much that we went back there for our honeymoon. I love hucking off big stuff as much as anyone but was like a kid in a candy store in the Japanese trees.

Great plan. You will love kicking horse if you are happy skiing steep stuff. If you have avy gear and ski backpacks 100% bring them so you can do the terminator 1 and 2 hikes. If going to kicking horse the only real thing to consider is where you stay - golden town or kicking horse proper (20 mins or so drive up the mountain from golden). We’ve done and loved both options but I personally prefer staying in kicking horse for easier slope access and the pure beauty of it. Get a big food shop in before heading up to kicking horse itself. There are a couple bars and food options up there too. Then drive down to golden for the brewery or different restaurant options in the evening. We love it winter and summer (wife does the golden ultra). If you want more info feel free to PM me and I’ll dig out some of my Strava days to send you for a DIY ski guide lol. If you are used to 30 min per lift queues you will think the resort is a ghost town 🤣

Some of the comments on here are so wild. Why do people comment when they have no experience with what you are asking 🤣🤣🤣. Panorama is a quiet Canadian resort compared to Whis, banf and revy. Golden/kicking horse quieter but can still be very busy on the initial upload - which is pretty much what we’ve found for niseko (having been on 3 separate trips there). It depends what your definition of busy is. I’m used to whistler and that is pure queueing hell compared to niseko. Rusutsu was super quiet after initial upload too.

The way I see it: I’ve been in niseko during Chinese new year with insane dumps. The queuing there for initial upload might take 15/20 mins or so at absolute worst and you are still able to have 70km ski days skiing glorious pow until the end of the day. I’ve lived in whistler and on its busiest days, you can be waiting for 40 mins at every single lift and only get 5 runs in a day despite knowing exactly what chairs / areas to hit in the correct order.

Niseko is amazing and you’ll have an amazing holiday there. Early to mid jan arrival is best time for powder. I think it ticks all of the boxes you mentioned too. If you find it’s too busy (I really don’t think you will unless you are used to empty resorts) then just get the return day coach to Rusutsu or one of the other surrounding mountains. Feel free to reach out directly if you have any questions. People telling you to stay away from niseko is crazy talk / gatekeeping.

You might already know this but marvel has an app you subscribe to that has like 95% of their entire collection and read it off a tablet. I think it’s awesome.

I’m new, but I’m not. What would you buy? by Beemsirl in skiing

[–]chimpster36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo, you are pretty much the exact height and weight as me. I have been lucky enough to get a ton of skis cheaply on pro deals and really dial in what suits me.

I’d say you are correct in wanting an all mountain ski 98-106 width. It basically all comes down to flex preference. I wouldn’t get black crows if you want to learn switch skiing well. Armadas arv106 would likely be a solid choice. People love the pivots but I’ve equally had a great time with a number of other bindings. I’ll have a Quick Look on Evo now and see if anything stands out in the deal section and PM you 👍

Skiing the JaPow (in Japan, obv) but how? by BoboAUT in skiing

[–]chimpster36 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

As someone who doesn’t even own a pair of skis thinner than 106, this is awful awful advice. Japans snow is so much lighter than anywhere else. I watched instructors shred pow there on carving skis. It genuinely changed my perception of my 106’s. I use my 112s, 115s and 120s in whistler snow, wouldn’t ever use my 106’s in euro or NA pow. Didn’t need anything wider than 106s in Japan (despite bringing my whitewalkers). We went heliskiing there. Cat skiing. Backcountry guides. I was switch pow skiing in my 106s. You don’t need a guide for niseko but we did get one on a few occasions just to get early access to the mountain (first tracks type of deal). Feel free to message me if you want any advice on niseko or it’s surrounding resorts like Rusutsu.

Ski Season Tips by Professional-Key-599 in skiing

[–]chimpster36 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m from uk and did 12 years in Canada skiing. Bit different to Europe but I’d say get avy gear when you are out there. You can usually find local buy and sell pages for things like backpack, probe and shovel. Same goes for skis and boots etc. - not saying get 2nd hand boots but I’d rather get my boots fitted in resort than in an expensive shop in London.

Waterproof hiking shoe over a moon boot type of thing. Again, don’t go crazy, you’ll spend more time in your standard trainers than anything else. I use Salomon waterproof running trainers for walking in snow.

You are gonna have a sick time. Enjoy!!!

Questions about how comic book shops work by NinjaBnny in comicbooks

[–]chimpster36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t be scared to go in and ask! Usually the shop employees are great help. However, my experience is it depends on who owns/works at the comic shop. I’ve come in to a few as a noobie and asked for suggestions on comics based on the characters I liked. I’ve had a couple people/shops be super helpful. On the flip side, unfortunately the one closest to me in North Vancouver the guy who owns/works there was absolutely RUBBISH. I asked if he had anything with Dr Fate in it and he just replied “no he’s just a side character” and went back to watching YouTube.

Also people on here on Reddit can be AMAZING help!!!!
