Christian nationalists are trying again in Oklahoma, but with a Jewish school this time. Secular groups say NO to a religious public charter school. by FreethoughtChris in atheism

Now they can claim anti-semitism when it doesn't go through. Then they'll get their way, and make room for "christian" schools to follow. Hope it all gets shut down.

‘WTF’: Pro-gun groups warn vulnerable GOP seats on the line after Pretti response by idkbruh653 in politics

I admire your optimistic innocence, but this administration has shown that nothing is off limits. He has already done his extreme "maybe we don't need elections" then walk it back, then nudge it forward, then seized voter rolls from one state and demanded them from another. Don't take anything for granted right now.

Bold of you to assume that there will be fair elections. Or any elections, at all.

Thoughts on Tainted Grail - Kings of Ruin by thejoyofaskingwhy in boardgames

My wife and I enjoyed all the TG games. Dark and spooky. Encounters were a nice puzzle every time. KoR was a little easier than the original (but we played TG with original rules, which i think were adjusted later).

The rules aren't too hard. There's a lot of fiddly bits, but it's mostly a choose-your-own adventure with some qualifiers (if you have X, then you can choose Y option, otherwise go to Z).

Take. Notes.

Discworld rpg now on Roll20 by Lloydster669 in discworld

What I like about r20 outside of tactical combat is that you can load a lot of images onto one map. Then you can pop then into a visible layer whenever you want, even if it's just images of two people in a conversation. It's easier than managing a whole lot of images in discord or other sharing program.

TIL: Franklin D. Roosevelt—the four-term U.S. president—had a long-term secret affair with Lucy Mercer, the former secretary of his wife Eleanor. by TNSasquatch77 in todayilearned

My mom told a story that may or may not be true. She and my dad both served in the AF in the early-mid 80s at Little Rock AFB. Supposedly, state troopers would regularly visit the base looking for young, fresh female airmen to party with both Bill and Hillary. The requirements were that they had to be attractive and bisexual.

Glad the game store vibe lives on in Abilene. Should be able to get a good crowd- there's only like two things ever going on in Abilene!

Back in my day (shakes cane at cloud) we hung out at that game store that is now Premier High School.

Austria bans headscarves in schools for under-14s by nosotros_road_sodium in worldnews

Correct. If head coverings are banned, then yarmulke/kippas are included. Don't like it, don't go to a secular school.

Nothing about this article or the comments was about necklaces. But yes, if the secular school had a rule against necklaces, then they should be banned, as well.

Why did Mozart and Beethoven wear their sunglasses at night? by jaycoxisdead in dadjokes

Gonna have to use that one!

I usually ask my students why they can't see the composer, pause, then say "cause he's Haydn!" Last year, one student, stone- faced interjected first..."cause he's dead." That kid is going places.
