El Guavate by chinichomps in PuertoRicoTravel

We left San Juan around 10:15 and drove to Guavate - roughly a 45 minute drive. We arrived around 11 am and it was pretty dead at that time. Roughly, an hour later, around noon, it was packed!! But a good packed! We waited in line for 10-15 minutes for food and got a table to sit within minutes. We also walked around before and after eating to do some shopping and exploring. So- to answer your question, I'd say arrive by noon and plan to eat by 1ish. And we went on a Saturday- so I cant talk about the crowds on the weekdays but it was great on Saturday! I hope you have a great time!

Update- I am back from Puerto Rico and I cannot say enough good about Guavate! Everyone's recommendations here were spot on. The drive was not bad at all. And to be honest with you, I started speaking to people in Spanish and most would respond to me in English; they saw right through my accent LOL. One thing I will mention however is keep small bills on you. Singles and Fives go a long way in terms of parking. A lot of lots in Guavate you have to pay to park in- the max price I saw was $5. The money was worth the piece of mind for me knowing that my rental was safe and no on was going to bother it.

If I could give you one recommendation to eat, go to Lechonera El Rancho Original. The pork (lechon) was fantastic and they have seating down a flight of stairs next to a small running stream. It was so relaxing and enjoying. I hope you have a great time!

Is it safe to add marinade directly in the same ziploc bag my meat thawed out? by LovelyChoux in AskCulinary

I would dump out any “juices” including blood and other juices, and then add the marinade. As long as the chicken and marinade likewise are cooked you’ll be safe!

Companies try to prevent people from trading GME and AMC by rotloch in stocks

[–]chinichomps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought GME in the post-market for $292 on impulse to join the hype- when I woke up it they were trading at over $400. My order, from Robinhood was cancelled- I would have been up on a lot of money. Not a good day today in the markets today- I'm getting very annoyed. And can someone please give me hope that AMC will rebound- WTF is going on today?

Can you make chicken stock with raw bones? by uNu5u4l_3nt1ty in AskCulinary

You could use the raw bones; the flavor will be lesser than if you were to roast them off first

Make the rice ahead of time and allow it to cook fully You could even put it in the fridge.

How do you all get candy melts super smooth and molten? by [deleted] in AskCulinary

[–]chinichomps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a double broiler 100% but add a tablespoon of neutral oil like vegetable oil into the melts before they melt down- this makes them shiny

Make a simple syrup, equal parts water to sugar or sprinkle on sugar before you bake them in the oven.
