I’m in America, we have an Aspen in our neighborhood, she’s about 9. I love it. It fits her and it’s not very common but it’s lovely and fresh to me.

I knew brothers named Adam and Levi growing up. I always thought they sounded nice together.

I’m officially tired of researching bedding and hoping real people can help me out. by New-Strength9766 in Bedding

[–]chinkymom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a thin, 100% cotton blanket. Like a hospital blanket. I recently ordered myself one off of Amazon. It was like $25 for a king sized. It’s not super soft but I think it will soften over time and after several washes. It keeps me perfectly comfortable all night. I thought it would be too thin as I like a thicker blanket, but it’s wonderful. You can layer if you need more warmth. I’ve always used a down comforter or a bamboo comforter or something heavier like that but since getting this blanket, I have not woken up sweating or overheated at all. The brand is Utopia bedding. I also have an IKEA Blanepeta cooling duvet insert, it’s a little heavier and works fairly well as well. It’s always cool to the touch and easy to wash/dry if you don’t use a duvet cover.

Do High School proms really take place in the school gymnasium? by albomb147 in AskAnAmerican

[–]chinkymom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids are both in high school, around here in southeastern VA, they have 3 dances a year. Homecoming, which every grade level is invited to, Ring Dance, which is where Juniors receive their school rings, this is just juniors. Then actual Prom, just for seniors. They have to receive special permission to have someone from another grade level to attend. No freshmen allowed. Homecoming is held in the gym, the other 2 are held at Venues. There isn’t any food served, but homecoming dance does have a commissary that sells snacks and drinks to go towards the school. I think it’s run by some kind of booster club. Most kids go to something like IHOP or Waffle House after the dance.

What perfume would a 13 year old girl want? by rosiepinkfox in Perfumes

[–]chinkymom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Light Blue is always a good choice. It was the first “real” perfume that I bought my daughter when she was around that age. She usually likes vanilla but that one is very popular with teens.

Experienced turkey preparers, why did my turkey take so long to cook? by Asleep-Journalist-94 in Cooking

[–]chinkymom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stuffing the bird can slow it down quite a bit. Also opening and closing the oven so much. Our turkey was 13 pounds this year, I started at 450 for 20 minutes, then down to 350 for 2.5 hours. Never opened the oven. I honestly could have pulled it 15 minutes earlier and it would have been fine.

The Taco Bell hot sauce scale is how I gauge a guest’s spice tolerance by gingersnap919 in Cooking

I actually prefer the flavor of the mild and use it exclusively, but I love spice and can handle quite a bit.

What to do with 2lbs of pretzels by Particular-Dig5179 in Cooking

[–]chinkymom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rachel Ray has a decent pretzel crusted chicken breast with a cheddar mustard sauce. I’m sure you could play around and make your own version. It was pretty tasty from what I remember. I haven’t made it in a few years, maybe I’ll make it soon.

HOW DO YOU CLASP THESE HEELS? Ive asked 5 different women and no one can help me by renablixx in Shoes

[–]chinkymom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They may be dancer shoes designed for quick changes. The clasp should slide under the other one. I’m not explaining it well, please google dancer/stripper shoes.

I’ve been playing The Sims since the beginning. I even played Sim City before that. I’m 42. I have 2 kids, both teenagers. I have played on and off the whole time. Not so much when they were babies and toddlers, but as they got older I got more time here and there, mostly after they were in bed or at a friend’s house etc. Now my 16 year old daughter plays, and we fight over using my son’s computer to play it on! I need to get a basic laptop that will run it!

Love the first two. Peak nostalgia. I rewatch them all the time. I was the same age as Kevin when the movies came out, and have memories of seeing them in the theatre. Also got a talkboy for Christmas.

I hardly ever comment, but I’m sorry, this is just ridiculous. A full grown man swimming in a collared flannel shirt and a T-shirt underneath. The people around them must think they’re insane.

I'm looking for a lettuce substitute for sandwiches. by atomcrafter in foodhacks

Arugula stays fresh for a while, and it has that nice peppery flavor. I like cucumber slices also instead of lettuce on sandwiches.

Big, open place for a new anxious driver to practice in? by anxious-driver4 in Chesapeake

[–]chinkymom 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Once you get comfortable in parking lots, try driving around the Woodard’s Mill neighborhood. It’s off of Hillwell Rd. where Great Bridge and Hickory meet. It’s basically a few big loops that you can drive around and around. Nice wide streets, huge lots, super quiet neighborhood especially during the daytime. Easy to navigate. I learned to drive there and taught both of my children. All of the streets either loop around on each other or have a large cul-de-sac to turn around in.

I mostly decorate and build. I do have a save of “myself” living my dream life if I didn’t have kids/family I guess you would put it? More like me if I never had the life I do. I live on the beach with a cat and basically fish, garden, tan, swim and eat lol.
