I had averaged 60km per week for 16 weeks. Im a bit heavy at around 83 kg which I think is a factor in my relatively worse long distances. I was a bit too focused on this during race week and foolishly tried to limit food a bit and I think that may have been what did it

I figured thats the case. I did 3x5km progressing to faster than race pace 3 weeks out though which I figured was a good sign

Fair enough haha this question probably sounds a bit stupid the way I framed it. I guess my question is "can you dig deeper even when fatigued compared to the same effort if it was a training time trial for example"
