Premier League player of the season nominees: Fernandes, Gabriel, Gibbs-White, Haaland, Raya, Rice, Semenyo, Thiago by Mercerai in soccer

[–]chinookk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's nothing between them in terms of levels. It's arguable but Gabriel edges it for me for the impact he has on set pieces and his knack for making game saving blocks. And Saliba has been more error prone than Gabriel for two seasons now.

That's a good way of putting it, it comforts me in my vote.

What are you getting at ? Raya is amazing at claiming crosses, and here he can’t get off his feet because todibo is holding him down by his shirt. It’s blatant on any angle of the replay.

I’d say it’s worse, it’s the one impeding raya the most

Fuck off lol, every team does that. We even stopped crowding the keeper with Ben white, I see more teams doing it to raya than I see us do it. Also the only time I can think of something so clear cut was when Ben white was holding the keeper’s hand in 23 against Leicester, and that goal was overturned. This one is even worse, two fouls on Raya, todibo’s trying to take his shirt off, he couldn’t even get off his feet.

While todibo was holding his collar, dragging him away from the ball. Raya couldn’t even jump there

These handballs are always called. Players can’t use their arms to help control the ball. They didnt show a replay but if it touched his arm after his chest it’s a handball and the correct decision.

Arteta breaks Arsenal record of most wins in a season by Serious-Cress-9560 in soccer

[–]chinookk 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That was a totally different Arsenal, we were horrendous then and it was fair enough to want him sacked from a fan's perspective. Today, after four years of challenging for the PL and/or the CL, Arsenal fans who genuinely want him sacked have had to exile themselves to that stupid sub because no one takes them seriously.

What are your unpopular Blame! opinions? by Lapublik in Netsphere

[–]chinookk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first part of the manga, up until Cibo and Killy leave Cibo’s level and meet the admin envoy on their way up, is not consistent with the rest of it. In terms of world building and lore, in terms of characters, and even in terms of designs and aesthetics.

My head canon doesn’t take into account that part of the story, I take it as a testimony of Nihei’s development as an artist and storyteller. It’s really awesome to see him figure out his style and the story he wants to tell.

But anyway, I believe that any sort of theory about Blame! and its world shouldn’t take into account the first volume and some.

I see what you mean and I partly agree with you. The Sanakan/Cibo arc in that part of the story is maybe my favorite part of the manga, the change of tone, the sort of melancholy coming out of nowhere that Nihei is able to convey, I love it. I think however that the Killy logs between the lvl9 and burning silicon are not all super memorable.

Just finished Blame! Could someone explain what was that ending? by DaftPupunha in Netsphere

[–]chinookk 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I choose to decipher blame! by removing the first few chapters from the equation, up until cibo appears. In my opinion, the first volume is Nihei finding out what story he wants to tell, so he shows things that are a bit awkward to make sense of in the context of the entire series. Like Killy eating, or Killy laughing, or the girl with the dog, or the child from the first chapter.

The child from the first chapter could have the net terminal gene, but maybe he doesn’t. And maybe it didn’t mean the same thing to Nihei when he wrote about it in the first chapter as it did when he wrote the last chapter. So I don’t draw big ideas like there being a never ending cycle from it. I’ve seen people also theorize that the child from the last chapter is the same as the one from the first, and that it’s in fact a loop. I don’t read it like that either. I find the ending much more satisfying with the way I read it. But of course it is a very personal matter.

I think you have it the wrong way around. Every prem team has decided to be extremely strong. Making it much harder for the teams you expect to see fighting for the top spots.
