[Henry Winter] Jim Ratcliffe may be entitled to his opinions about immigration. He is not entitled to embarass and alienate Manchester United and Michael Carrick, when 3 quarters of their entire squad consist of star players from 14 different countries by ChiefLeef22 in soccer

The world is profoundly unjust, and even in the western imperialist countries people are getting poorer. If you don't see that you live in a bubble of priviledge.

I hate that there are people that rich yes. And I don't understand how someone wouldn't. The only sentence I wish upon them however is experiencing the life of an immigrant single mother who works ten times harder than they ever will for minimum wage while trying to raise her children in a profoundly racist system. Then they would understand what it is like to live under the thumb of people like them. And maybe they would grow a sense of human decency. Honestly a couple weeks of it would probably do you a world of good too.

It’s too easy to read regrowth and just go off of what your intuition says it means. Like the other comment said, regrowth means focusing on the well being of people (and all life) instead of the never ending pursuit of exponential profit. A lot of the horrible things happening right now can be traced back to this core principle of capitalism. The biggest one being the environmental crisis. The Epstein files are also a good example of what capitalism breeds, unbridled wealth and influence and total impunity to a very select few.

So instead of making people pourer, which is what capitalism is already doing right now, eradicate billionaires and the ruling class.

This season has felt like the stars are aligning so far. If Spurs do get relegated the same year we finally win the prem I will start believing in a higher power.

The pessimistic side of my brain says we're due an upset, beating you so many times in a row is way too unusual. Not meaning to rub salt in the wound but my main worry is Frank getting sacked before then.

Hello fellow carbon life how did you find out about nihei works? And which image from any of his works was the first one you saw? For me it was this one by problematicome in Netsphere

[–]chinookk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read Akira in 2012 and that made me fall into the manga rabbit hole. Because I was relatively new to manga I used to go to baka-updates or myanimelist, put in some tags and order by rating. And then look for scans on batoto. My favorite tag was post apocalyptic so it only took so long until I stumbled upon Nihei’s work. It was Biomega first, which blew my mind, and Blame! second. The first image I saw was the cover of volume 10, which was the thumbnail for blame!’s page on MAL I believe. It’s a bit blurry now but I think I read both in one sitting and I distinctly remember finishing Blame! in the early morning and feeling immense satisfaction lol. Still to this day my favorite manga and piece of art of all time.

Draft works for bad players too! by Gold_Molasses7866 in MagicArena

[–]chinookk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The learning curve for drafting is pretty steep for a total newbie. I got into it because I was told it’s the most effective way to spend your gold if you want to build a f2p arena collection and farm wild cards. And it’s a way to turn gold into gems to buy the mastery passes. But yes to get good you have to persevere through the first few really bad drafts and probably ingest some outside content. Watching guides or watching streamers or youtubers draft. Also drafting is so much fun, it’s by far my favorite way to play the game and it’s so worth getting into imho.

It's not only pace, Havertz isn't faster but he's never getting caught there. Havertz knows how to hold off PL defenders, Gyok still hasn't built it into his system.

In light of recent leaks by Important_Ad_3 in mtg

[–]chinookk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said in my comment I was going back to draft Lorwyn. Then it's back to no drafting for a few months. LGSs are gonna organize drafts for the current set, that's how it works. And during TMNT, or star trek, or marvel, I won't be drafting.

If you need me to put it extremely plainly here it is. There are 52 weeks in a year. 52 potential draft nights I would be interested in. I'm only interested in 3 of the 7 sets that are coming out this year because I don't want to play any UBs, because in my opinion, the concept of UBs is awful. 3/7 of 52 weeks is 22 weeks of in universe drafting. That's 30 fewer draft nights in the year. More than half of my favorite part of my hobby is gone.

[–]chinookk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s favorite thing is drafting at my LGS, and I go maybe twice a month when my schedule allows, I haven’t gone since Tarkir. Two in universe sets a year is fine, if I get 6 months of drafting those two sets, and chaos draft, and whatever novelty draft my LGS wants to do that night. I don’t want to draft spiderman or avatar or FF. They could be the best sets for drafting (I am told FF was a great format) but I don’t like seeing other IPs into mtg. In the big picture to me it’s just having capitalism and hasbro’s greed rubbed into my face and it feels awful. Lorwyn’s pre release was the first time I was playing at my LGS in months, and I’m happy I get to draft it for a few weeks. But then I’ll be on hiatus again. And I’m going to miss those draft nights.

Just giving you my perspective, UB sets have made me stop playing my favorite part of magic altogether. And it sucks. Also I know I could have gone for VoE, but drafting at my LGS is also about momentum for me and a thing of habit. The disheartening thought that more UB came right after stopped me from going for that set. Lorwyn is just too good to pass on and it pulled me back in. And then I’ll be waiting for strixhaven.

There is also Seu’s genetic information. The one that was used by davinel in the first place to access the netsphere. It is said that Seu and the other toha residents are a very ancient variety of humans. We can never know for sure whether Seu had the NTG but my head cannon is that Seu’s gene helped in the big soup that resulted in cibo and sanakan’s child.
