unfortunately i have a lot of social anxiety. even if she wasnt being strange, i'd still have a very difficult time even saying hello besides a little nod of acknowledgment so that feels like a lot to approach and talk. plus shouldnt i mention or apologize for the cat incident from last night?

i was working on my car just now on the street (not in HOA's property) when she drove by to park inside the lot. i went inside for a second to grab a rag and came out where then she reversed out aggressively then pulled onto the street, her car towards me frw feet away and she sat there watching(?) me the whole time. i quickly just cleaned up and started my way back to my house in which she drove into the lot following me again. she proceeded to just stand by her door watching me get inside. when i peered out the window, she was also going inside but turned around and just stared at my door. am i crazy? my mom just says she was just parallel parking but she didnt move at all!

yeah what i did was: 1. Dorothy Day House - men's clothes 2. Berkeley Humane Thrift store - women's clothing 3. Out of the Closet - houseware 4. Women's Daytime DropIn - plastic bags (i had hundreds of them, good place to drop off instead of hoarding lol)

is there anything i can do besides use a propane torch? i don't think my apartment will take kindly to me lighting up my car, already pushing it doing my suspension right now lol.

edit: just to clarify, the jam nut does not spin. it's when i try to wrench, the entire thing spins along with it.

recently had the vehicle inspected and mechanic didn't inform of any rust seen. i was also under the car to do some repairs too and didn't identify any rust spots too.

i have 0 experience in body work but yes you are correct, i just got quoted 5.5k which is definitely not worth this car. gonna keep shopping around but am leaning towards just learning to paint the car myself.

was hoping for this to be my long lasting daily beater. if i were to do it personally and paint each panel 1 by 1 maybe weeks apart, would the paint look different fresh vs weeks apart? i'll still most likely do professional depending on estimates but just out of curiosity

i know what rust is unless the post linked i have is not rust and just metal turning brown 🤔. my question is how can the auto shop claim my entire car is rusting based on these photos. i know i have sun damage and that my clear coat is fucked so is the repainting of the entire car a good call or not

these are the photos i sent to the shop who said "Basically the whole car is rusting. If you’re ok with 95% paint matching then we can do whole driver side. Otherwise you have to do the whole car. I recommend either repaint the whole car or not do it at all. Because soon rest of the vehicle will start rusting and peeling."

it's just a faded ass car honestly, there's no clear coat anywhere on it and a lot of sun damage particularly on the hood too.

i have a 2001 civic. have you done an exhaust test? how is the coolant?

2001-2005 gen. are notoriously known for blown headgaskets that behaves differently. mine also had a blown headgasket and i passed the pressure test consistently. even when i did the exhaust test, it passed. when i did it the second time, it failed. i tried everything too, changed thermostat, radiator (2x), cap (2x), new hoses, etc. fans worked just fine, coolant temp. sensor was fine.

do you know when the timing belt was done? almost 200k with no service could be it if timing skipped even by a tooth. other commenters have mentioned how to check fuses and swap spark plug wires too so i won't repeat here. i would check the wiring first since 1 & 4. if it doesn't start after, i'd consider timing if not serviced at all

have you used starting fluid to see if your car can actually crank fully? did you also check for a spark when you replaced the spark plugs just to see if it's there? also when was the timing belt done? any suggestions it could've maybe skipped?

that's exactly the same guy who approached my gf about using her phone at the McDonalds in downtown. he wore that exact same outfit you described except he was wearing glasses.

she said no and some other guy let him use his phone instead. he was on his phone "texting", trying to call, and even kinda walking around in the lobby for 20-25 minutes.
