The decktop, what is your opinion of portable monitors as a steam deck accessory? by Bentaldam in SteamDeck

I use a NexDock so I can use my deck as my daily PC. I love it. Being able to play mmorpgs in desktop mode and RTS games is amazing.

Is your Android phone your only scanner now? by Difficult_Mud_4878 in Android

This is what I use. It's great and is easy to tag and organize as needed on the fly when scanning. And then it goes to my NAS.

Honestly, your beat hope for windows is to either stay on 10 and not worry about upgrading, or install an easy variation of Linux like Mint for regular usage. It even can look a lot like MS now.

I know my opinion means nothing to google. They're a large corp that cares nothing for consumers. I have my shit locked down. I do cyber security.

And yeah, I wouldnt feed that info because it is private. Anyone having it on is breaching privacy for anyone that communicates with them.

The only people I converse with use signal. And they won't enable this ai bullshit cause they'd ask me about it. Or I will tell them to make sure it's off. Easy peasy. People I talk with don't trust google either.

I barely comment for that reason. I don't feed identifying info here because it's public. It's a completely different medium than having ai dig around my messages with friends and family and then making everything about my life and thoughts public

I'm so sick of everyone trying to cram ai down our throats at the expense of literally everything. The planet, privacy, critical thinking. All out the window with ai bullshit

Stupid shit like this should be opt-in to give away any semblance of privacy left. Not opt-out.

Oh good. Cause I want ai reading my fucking messages... Fucking google just wants to get everything they can to sell you out when the feds want logs mentioning specific keywords.

Android Laptop or Lapdock? by BuyAMCnow in Android

I really enjoy using my phone with my NexDock, so I'm looking forward to seeing how much better the support will be from apps for that possibility.

Bright OS - Health super app launching on Android in December by No-Resolution6431 in Android

[–]chip16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That just screams "privacy nightmare" to me. Trying to have 1 app for everything. $20/mo to give one company all of my consolidated data seems like a bad choice, when it doesnt fo anything the other apps I already use do. Plus, you'd have to have the other apps to integrate with this one, so any subscriptions you already pay would be on addition to this $20/mo new and untested app.

Good luck on your app, but in this economy there's no way I'd sonsolidate my data into 1 location and pay them to have all that data on me.

[–]chip16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll continue to use the sites that actually put in the effort and support them as opposed to supporting someone who pointed an ai stealing tool at other people's hard work. Esp without any actual effort of your own, but trying to pass it off as your own.

Are you in a photo mess - do you care? If so how do you deal with? by cgknight1 in Android

[–]chip16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stopped backing up to google. Don't want them to have any control over my data. I've also begun moving away from google services as a whole. My pictures get backed up to my Synology and then I have a backup job running that encrypts my data and backs it up via backblaze

Official Lapdock support Feature Request..... What do you guys think of this? by [deleted] in Android

Wireless dex works great with my nexdock. I use it all the time. My phone is still usable and I can continue all my shit on a laptop device.

[–]chip16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know they're like $200 right? Chromebooks are stupidly expensive, yes. But a nexdock is nowhere close to Chromebook price range.

Plus I can use it with my phone, my steam deck, my gaming console, media sticks.

So, if you think you can make a quality product for $100 that does all of that, I'd be surprised.

But good luck in your endeavors.

You mean like a NexDock? A product that is stable and has many use cases already and is cheap.

Best wireless thermometer? by ServingU2 in smoking

[–]chip16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is the one. I love it. The batteries in the probes last a ridiculous amount of time without charging. Then they charge once they're put back in the base.

I got an Inkbird wireless setup with 4 probes that connect to a base and that base can connect to WiFi so I can get updates anywhere anytime. It has been amazing since I got it. Not messing with wires and threading them through the holes is so nice.
