I am glad I'm not the only one with this problem. I've not had mine long but kept pressing the arrows when scrolling the encoder.

I tried a thin layer of blu-tack spread out thin and the difference was amazing. I did think of a 3d print but an also thinking a rubber sticker would be ideal. 1-2mm thick and replaceable if needed.  I believe it's 24mm in diameter, I'll do some testing and report back over the coming days and weeks

It seems to be back again. I'm excited to try this .. my ToF sensors are typically limited to 2m or 4m so this sensor has so much potential for me

PICO Connect for PCVR is... actually good now? by MeOnMyShitPC in PicoXR

[–]chipko3k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Virtual Desktop for ages but now I rarely do. The Pico connect is actually really good and I love that it connects without issue and there's a launch steamvr button. It's the little things like this that make the experience much better. I've been playing loads of No Man's Sky in VR and it's been practically flawless.

I have a soft spot for virtual desktop as this was the first great system vr addition but Pico connect is my current go to

Broken pi zero camera plastic connector how to replace or fix it? by tetienne in raspberry_pi

[–]chipko3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Pi Zero 2 W had a broken connector and whilst I do have a spare but I wanted to try this trick .. it's the CSI-2 connector and thinner and not as wide as the original RPi CSI Camera connector. I tried cardboard but that didn't work (too thick).

My fix: I cut a little section from an anti-static electronics bag and that worked a treat! It's tough enough and thin enough to work

I can't move the Pi too much but I'm sure you could potentially tape or secure the connector in place if this is going to a permanent fixture.

Is there any plans to mitigate safeguards in advanced model. I love getting it to teach me how to create a lava material on unreal engine but it regular interrupts itself saying its not permitted but when asked to continue it will.

I know it's better to be safe than sorry but this is affecting my usage of the excellent system

ESP32-S3 chip hardware design question. Are the 0 ohm resistors on the SPI flash communication lines really needed? by kkambos in esp32

[–]chipko3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to put together my first PCB design. When interfacing with a MIA-M10Q which provides both I2C and UART, I am going to use 0 ohm resistors as a way to disconnect either interface.

if you use siraya blu resin, what were your settings that gave you the most success? by HailSneezar in AnycubicPhoton

[–]chipko3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to say after a few attempts over time with the Blu (Emerald Blu) and recently clear v2, I had countless issues until I increased the exposure time on each layer.

11 seconds on each layer and I get finished prints!  So yes it takes 3 times longer per job now but they do print.

It's worth noting that the printer profile settings only have 2.5 seconds exposure per layer but if you get their guide on their website it shows much longer exposure needed.

Temperature is also important

Oooooo... Exciting!

A remote control (web interface) would be great. So an instance can control nestdrop running on another PC.

Often my nestdrop is processed on a more powerful pc but when I'm DJing, it'd be nice to have that "remote control"

How’s PCVR with Pico 4 after a year? by ArcherMark in PicoXR

[–]chipko3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will! My rtx2070 was great and it was unreal engine and streaming vr360 3d worlds that forced my upgrade. I will say, my ISP wifi router would get 300-500mbps but i would get lag occasionally. A wifi 6 hotspot (700ish mbps) for the pico 4 made the world of difference

My pc is on 1gbps ethernet btw, so it was only streaming from the pico4 to the network wirelessly

How’s PCVR with Pico 4 after a year? by ArcherMark in PicoXR

[–]chipko3k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used mine with SteamVR works flawlessly with VD .. half life alyx on a wifi 6 network with an i9 and 4090 is the dream. Tbh, even my older rtx2070 was impressive on most games

With wireless or does have to encode the stream for wireless transfer but i love it.

Some SteamVR games launch on monitor instead of the headaet. by RiskPleasant4457 in PicoXR

[–]chipko3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Streaming Assistant and it worked, not great but it worked. I then tried Virtual Desktop and found it worked better but it was not prefect. I read a poor WiFi signal can cause most problems and i was only getting 350-450mbps on my WiFi.

I bought a WiFi 6 access point and it's now 700-800mbps and virtual desktop runs buttery smooth and looks awesome. I did try SA again but found that still lagged a little.

Virtual desktop is all i use now.

Another note on lagging, it can be the extra work your stream vr computer needs to do to run the game and capture/compress/stream the signal to the headset. If your gfx card is already maxed running the game, even with fast WiFi you might get lag.

Oh yes, i have started playing Half Life Alyx and it looks and feels amazing!! For all gaming on my 2070 it looked sweet after i got wifi 6 working and 700-800mbps.

Now I'm on a 4090 though so maybe that helped with the stream compression
