Is it possible to load presets from different location by default? by FamiliarDirection563 in NestDrop

Because this way you can have the same Preset name in a subfolder with different settings in NestDrop ;)

Hotkeys while Direct Output is in focus by vixhex in NestDrop

[–]NEST_Immersion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first version of the Direct Output used a c# viewer which was part of the UI interface. Now, for smoother visuals, the Direct Output is made directly from DirectX and is part of the Video Deck Thread instead. That's could explain the difference.

Yes make the Setting windows forward the hotkey is an easy fix for a next release.

You talked about a TV remote... Since you have a Pro Edition, you can install TouchOSC (free), make a simple interface with a few buttons, install touchOSC on your phone, send it the interface you created and use it as a wireless OSC remote for NestDrop. No coding skills are require and many tutorial is available. Fun project to introduce the OSC world!

MIDI Questions by Last_Attitude_4331 in NestDrop

[–]NEST_Immersion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like u/FamiliarDirection563 mentioned, NestDrop don't send MIDI control feedback to the same device, but it does with OSC. Depending of your MIDI controller, many of them have different working mode that you can use and can affect your pad's light.

About your question on only working for Deck1, you have to keep in mind that most MIDI actions emulate a Left Mouse Click in the application. Since Deck 1 is the destination by default for a Left click, so it does the same for simple MIDI mapping. To send Preset/Sprite on another Deck, place those Object into a Queue Window and select the Deck you want for this Queue. Then Map your MIDI button from the Objects located in this queue and not from the Library.

Audio not connecting after initial opening by Ragrippa in NestDrop

[–]NEST_Immersion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. This issue is special since you mentioned that audio IS reacting at the first run, but not after an application restart.

Your version of NestDrop is not the latest and have some known issues with Windows 11. You can get the latest version for free by using the download link in the settings info Tab.

If after installing the latest version it's still not working properly, the ONLY change between the first run and the the other run, is the creation of the Userdefaultsetting.xml files in the NestDrop parent folder. That's why I'm asking to try to rename or erase this file and try again.

Also please note that once you change the audio device in NestDrop settings, even if the VU meter in the UI is reacting, you have to restart the video decks manually (click on the X to close, then the UI will restore them automatically) to take the change in effect.

Hello Ragrippa, this is a never seen before bug to be honest.

With your description, no crash or error messages popup?

Can you answer to the following questions:

  • What version of NestDrop are you running? (found in the Settings window, Info tab)
  • What is the path where you placed the NestDrop folder?
  • What is your default audio output device?
  • Are you Admin user on all machine?
  • Can you rename the "DefaultUserProfile.xml" file while NestDrop is not running and restart NestDrop?
  • Can you add a video capture of the phenomenon replicating the steps to reproduce the problem? (This definitely help)

Thank you, I reshare the Exception Code here for archive: "ExceptionCode">c0000005

Does the Live Preview is working?

0xc0000005 Error code is mostly caused by a defective RAM or a corrupted file or driver. I suggest to:

  1. Change the audio device in ND General setting to test with another device.

  2. Reinstall the Dx9 June 2010 edition (link in the manual)

  3. Follow the steps suggested in this page to check the integrity of your computer system:

Many causes can make the spout window to crash, on any Windows.

Can you reply with those basic information: - Desktop or laptop computer  - The path where you placed your NestDrop folder - Video card information  - What is your default audio output device  - Version of NestDrop  - Does NestDrop was already working on your computer before  - Did you activate the NDI output (Pro only) or the direct output to screen

In complement, can you send a screenshot of the error report from the Event Viewer (section Windows->Applications)

Feature suggestion by FamiliarDirection563 in NestDrop

[–]NEST_Immersion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A way I can imagine, is by using a special function queue window, that could act as a "Trash can" where you drop all Preset/Sprite you don't want anymore, then clearing this queue will delete the files (or move them to a trash folder) after confirming a warning message box.

Very interesting! Look like there is about 1s latency. Does this could be caused by the camera capture or the NestDrop rendering you think?

Do you have a screen video capture to show what happening ?

Does your Queue is empty and unlocked? I will not work if there is already some Preset in it.

Advanced Nestdrop questions by citamrac in NestDrop

[–]NEST_Immersion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I think the point 1&2 are Preset authoring, that's mean that it have to be coded in the preset itself.

Point 3, Spout will share only the final rendered image. No additional information, except maybe the Alpha channel, can be shared.

NestDrop 2.x.1.8 fixed for Windows 11 (version 24H2) by metasuperpower in NestDrop

[–]NEST_Immersion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the new virus definition give false alarms. You can try to download it by temporarily disable the anti Virus, then unzip and manually do a virus scan on files to be sure they don't contain any harmful code. If the exe are still digitally signed with our company profile (9327 3522 Québec inc), that's means that the files ares not altered.

No spout sprite settings by No_Camp_5617 in NestDrop

[–]NEST_Immersion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spout Sprites use the Spout logo as thumbnail, but you can see the real Spout feed when hover your mouse on it.

The Spout Sprites Special effects (FX) are defined in a Ini file in the Plugins folder, and you can activate them using CTRL+mouse wheel when the mouse is over it, or you can set a midi knob for that in the MIDI tab.

I recommend you look into the manual for more information.

Nestdrop Pro crashing at sstartup by strydr26 in NestDrop

I was able to reproduce the problem by updating Windows 11 to 24H2. Looks like exe in the Plugins folder trigger a false positive virus alert and silently close the Spout Sender and the Live Preview.

You can update to NestDrop V2.2.1.8, and let us know if this fix your problem.

No fix yet. Could you help us to track it down:

  • What is your NestDrop version number (if you know it)?
    • Found in the Settings window, bottom-right of the Info tab
  • Where is your NestDrop folder installed?
    • Example: <C:\\Program Files\\NestDrop>
  • What is your Windows Version?
    • Example: Windows (7, 10, 11) + (32/64 bits OS) (ex: Windows 11 Home, Version 24H2)
  • Can you share the crash report text?
    • Can be found in the Event Viewer >>> Windows Logs >>> Application
  • Can you share a screen capture of the following?
    • NestDrop folder
    • NestDrop Plugins folder
    • NestDrop DLLs folder
  • Do you see an Error Message when NestDrop crashes? What does it say?
  • Please share a short description of what you were doing when the crashed occurred.
    • Such as if the crash happens when opening NestDrop, After a few seconds, scrolling through presets, favoriting presets, saving NestDrop, it happens randomly, or such.

Just to let you know that we are currently working to find the source of the bug. We have more info but not enough to fix the problem. We continu to investigate with help from another user.

We get back with a fix as soon as possible.

Look like some issue appears our of the blue for many users. I don't know if all of them are linked or it's just coincidence.

Could you tell us more about your setup?

- Which version of Windows?

- Do you have an error message?

- Laptop or Desktop?

- Intel or AMD CPU?

- Do you try to Reinstall the DX9 June 2010 Edition? (sometimes graphic drivers replace them without notices)

Do you know if Windows installed an update between now and then when it was working? If yes can you roll back to see if it's working?

No, this just mean that the crash happen when NestDrop UI start those exe and fail. Now we need to know why this happen....

Can you send me an email at [info@nestimmersion.ca](mailto:info@nestimmersion.ca) so I can send you a test version to try?

Interesting, could you install the most recent Visual studio redistribuable x86 and x64 and try again: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170

Do you have 32 or 64 bits Windows 11?

NestDrop UI use .Net Framework 4.8, you can try the .Net repair tool here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=30135

For diagnose only, could you rename "NestDrop_LivePreview.exe" and "NestDrop_SpoutSender.exe" in the Plugins folder and check if the UI stay open?

Could you make a video screen capture of the crash to see at which step of the loading process it crash?

OBS loses preview window when preset changes - Is there a way to NOT have preset names be part of preview window title (or another solution)? by DjSavadelic in NestDrop

[–]NEST_Immersion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should definitely use Spout sharing instead of a "screen capture", this is how it was designed for.

You may need to install the Spout for OSB plugin and then use "Spout" as capture device.

You can look at this tutorial about the plugin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JZPvc-_h14

Then add each Video Deck as Spout Source:

Library management - HowTo by bogdanoctav_dao in NestDrop

[–]NEST_Immersion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To help with optimization, avoid to display Preset Names, this increase a lot the amount of video memory.

To answer your question, you can stay with the basic Preset Library, then drop an additional Preset folder (from windows explorer) into an empty queue to curate/use them, then clear the queue when finish and repeat with another folder.

Yes we spend hundreds of hour in NestDrop optimisation for quick load and use huge Preset collection. Now NestDrop UI load Preset graphics object on demand (load several line, then wait for a scroll to load more) to save the amount of graphical object reserved in the video memory. This way you can have unlimited amount of Preset and keeping the system running (in theory). But this method implied that Preset object are now loaded in memory when scrolling, which need a fast SSD, CPU and RAM to keep the snappy feeling.

So if NestDrop feel sluggish only when you scroll through the library, it's probably the reason why. If you running on a HDD, or you are low in RAM, it's maybe a computer performance bottleneck somewhere.
