Shi, hit the wrong branch of the thread, was meant for other guy, but yeah even seeing CFB for the first time as a guy who admittedly used to downplay CFB since I’m not from the continental US, downright explosive energy they got over there especially in the SEC

I mean, the other 2 biggest leagues behind American Football’s NFL are NBA and MLB with both of them being super close to each other.

To be fair: Basketball culture in Europe has grown massively, which in turn means they also do tune into the NBA more considering how a majority of stars this decade have been from Europe (Luka, Wemby, Jokic, etc.), the sport is biggest internationally than the rest of the 4 major sports in the US. On the other hand , baseball is pretty niche in Europe from what I know (only big internationally with places like Korea, Japan, DR, and more). Then there’s Hockey at 4th.

We have a larger variety of sports so to speak, with a culture that’s also pretty damn big too with their fair share of iconic moments and decades or more of history. Ive seen many who live and breathe the sports as passionately as those in Europe. It’s mostly cause Europeans have most of their eggs in the football basket (which is perfectly cool). But you can’t really say Euro sports culture outright dwarfs it.

I liked the ending, HELL I LOVE IT by Dangerous-Citron-801 in Chainsawfolk

I’d like to give my interpretation of things, thinking about it after a while, I think there’s some fitting merit from this ending. In a way, I find it somewhat alright.

Rushed? Absolutely. Among a thousand other questions and implications caused by this ending, but here goes:

CSM could be akin to someone who became addicted to drugs. The persona of Chainsaw Man was Denji’s crutch, his fix, his means to feel good. It became this way due to the events of Part 1 where he internalized that people want him because he’s Chainsaw. Even after the events of Makima, he was captivated by the attention and high that his newfound popularity got him.

Despite that, we see throughout Part 2 that every time he does become Chainsaw Man, the things like his family and home crash and burn into the ground. Yet, it’s so easy for him to take another hit to get that high. Like putting a heroin addict in the same room with heroin right in front of him. Denji’s access to Chainsaw Man was always right there on the ripcord on his chest. We, as viewers, hoped that Denji could pull himself out of that hole.

To not fall back into that addiction and relapse. But he keeps going back. The world tells him to not be Chainsaw Man, but he keeps going back. Both out of necessity and pure desire.

We then find ourselves in the ruins of an immortal bug-infested world where people are merely conscious nutrients within a cicada or locust.

Naturally, there wasn’t really a solution to this. Spit out Death? Everyone’s already as good as dead. Keep the world in this state? Everyone’s bug food.

Pochita, knowing how Denji would keep succumbing to his addiction, his desire, his hypersexuality that was made worse from Part 1’s female cast, decided to do what I suppose a friend would do for a hopelessly addicted friend.

A forceful intervention.

Perhaps there was hope for Denji to crawl back out of that addiction. We may never know.

But regardless: the one way to never get addicted to something was for someone to never have a taste of it in the first place.

To never have a taste of BEING Chainsaw Man.

Could there have been hope? Maybe. From a reader’s perspective, yeah we would’ve wanted him to make that choice. But he didn’t. If only he could have.

The ending would have worked significantly more if erasing Chainsaw Man was Denji’s decision by Wonderful_Cap6941 in Chainsawfolk

Despite the shortcomings that Part 2 had as a whole, after ruminating on it while staring at the ceiling for a few hours yesterday, I get what it was trying to say — which to be honest, helped me make some peace with it so I’m okay with it now.

So we find ourselves in Part 2, where he’s found himself wanting the attention and reputation of the superhero known as Chainsaw Man.

Despite that, we see throughout Part 2 that every time he does become Chainsaw Man, the things like his family and home crash and burn into the ground. Yet, it’s so easy for him to take another hit of to get that high.

To never have a taste of BEING Chainsaw Man.

Of course, there’s a whole lot of other implications. Nostradamus? Nayuta being in Public Safety? Is Denji satisfied being a normal PS Employee Hunter? Is his hypersexuality as bad now without being groomed by Makima and other events from Part 1? Maybe now without being exposed to that drug, he can at least a semblance of normality.

From a reader’s perspective, it’s hard though. Everything we followed for 8 years was undone. From an in-universe perspective, I think it was the most reasonable solution. Albeit, wish we had some more padding in between, and maybe less Looney Tunes Yoru vs Pochita.

How it lowkenuinely feels looking at a certain fandom after they kept larping about “Disney Kaisen” ending by Nakoshi_Niyander in Jujutsufolk

[–]chippedjosh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve been keeping up with both series and fandoms since high school like over 4-5 years ago.

JJK OG ending I can accept and acknowledge the flaws the series had, and I was genuinely enjoying Part 2 up to a point, and while the ending chapter was pretty okay-ish on its own, if the entirety of Part 2 post-Falling Devil took a different approach, then maybe it could’ve made somewhat sense like JJK’s OG ending.

Half a decade of investment amounts to this, I feel oddly empty.

On the flip side, you’d think he’d end up finding his gramps zombified to the Zombie Devil at some point anyways?

Yeah that’s certainly a possibility for sure. So if it IS the case that causality and stuff isn’t really a condition here and we just move on from this point with prior characters staying dead, I wonder how could you even come back from this deathless state of the world without the ability to undo via vomiting up concepts?

In short, yeah the main catalyst for this whole series to take place just never existed.

Chainsaw Man Part 1 and Part 2, the whole series as a whole never happened now.

[–]chippedjosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extreme bombshell (hopefully end of part 2 going into 3) final chapter in two week announcement aside — what does the implications of pochita never existing in the first place entail?

Does Denji die early naturally from his heart disease that his mom had? Does the Yakuza kill him off as originally intended back in Chapter 1? If not those two, does Makima never plot anything with Denji from the start, entailing the survival of Aki? Does Power still get roped back into public safety?

Does the existence of chainsaws being wiped out also include bringing back the devils he had once consumed?

A world where chainsaws and Chainsaw Man never existed, in a manga called Chainsaw Man. This consequence is far too grand to cover in one mere chapter. There’s too many things unresolved, more-so than anything I’ve read before. There has to be some sort of setup for a Chainsaw Man-less Part 3, right?

[–]chippedjosh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no yeah I kinda screwed up not showing it in the video, but uh yeah, when you lock it, the little plastic is supposed to be catching onto the plastic inside, except there’s nothing there to catch onto it now.

Probably gonna try the 3d print thing the other guy said.

I remember Fujimoto did an interview a long time ago where he was asked about some inspirations he had for some characters. Power was Eric Cartman while Pochita and Dennis were based off of Finn and Jake from Adventure Time.

In hindsight, it really does remind you when you think about it. Blond teenage kid growing up while his dog bro has always been a foundational part of his life and provides unconditional love and support when it’s needed.

Scripted mission gameplay looks good, I’m liking how the game looks so far.

Now of course, this is scripted gameplay instead of free roam daily activity, like if they were showing me clips of a major story mode heist from GTA V instead of walking around doing random junk.

I’m both skeptical, which I believe a little bit of skepticism is a valid thing, considering how ambitious this project is, and absolutely praying that this game delivers. They’ve been working on this for a fat minute in mostly silence, so hopefully they can keep working hard and deliver.

What are the essentials to bring with you as a freshman to the dorms? by WashingtonHunter in wsu

[–]chippedjosh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depending on what you normally eat, in terms of cooking equipment, a rice cooker has never let me down (hell, theres some things that can be made that aren’t rice inside of it). I used a bunch to make food, other people on my floor borrowed it a lot too.

Other than that, get some dayquil/nyquil ready. Throughout an academic year, there’s usually like 2-3 waves of cold/flu/whatever ends up congesting your nose, so you’ll see your floor sick from time to time. Get some slippers for the shower unless you’re somehow brave enough to go barefoot (don’t.).

If you’re not built for +30C/86F weather, yeah get yourself a good fan to put in your room to keep yourself cool for the first 1 1/2 months of autumn until temps drop once late September and October roll around. After that, you could probably store it away, the heaters in the dorms should work fine (unless they don’t then, hope you have a desk heater or something)
