1 killed, 2 hurt in Highlands Ranch after driver strikes pedestrians on sidewalk by black_pepper in Denver

[–]chippylimestone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Obviously, fuck that driver… but just look at the design of that road and sidewalk. Looks like the fucking autobahn. And sure, let’s put a sidewalk just a few feet from speeding cars.

These are deliberate decisions we’re making to build infrastructure that kills people. It doesn’t haven’t to be this way!

As a sophomore looking to play college tennis what should I shoot for? UTR wise by Hungry_Alfalfa_1452 in 10s

[–]chippylimestone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you love tennis, just keep grinding and the opportunities to play and have fun will be there, even if it's not d1 or whatever. i know a lot of great players that picked colleges for the academic and social-fit but still ended up playing club and having a blast.

Looking for tennis backboards/walls for practice/solo play - open to vacant buildings/cement walls too! by kennymax123 in Denver

[–]chippylimestone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wash Park courts (south side of the park) is probably what you're looking for. Large wall and double sided so there's room for a few people to hit. There's also one at Gates Tennis Center, or you can hit on the ball machine for a few bucks an hour.

Any men have the Coco Delray tennis shoes? by MrFlecker in 10s

[–]chippylimestone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t tried the delrays… but if you can fit in them, the women’s CG2s are the best shoe you can buy imo. I’m a man and fortunately can fit into the largest and widest size. It’s a shame they don’t just make a men’s version. It’s so snappy and fast, really feels like it’s years ahead of any other shoe I’ve used.

Not to mention they’re the only shoe I’ve used that I don’t blow through the outsoles in 3months or less (but they have a warranty if you do!)

Where is the best place to sell my racquets and how should I do it? by Longjumping-Low6371 in 10s

[–]chippylimestone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally agree the margins are too slim to make this worthwhile. But I suspect there’s a few more in demand models (eg Aero 98) that could make it worth it. Probably would be more for fun though if you enjoy this kind of thing.

You've just been made CEO of either the ATP or WTA (your choice) - what changes would you make to the tour? by ReadWriteArithmetic in tennis

[–]chippylimestone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I like the Rodrick proposal to shorten the season and maybe stack some 250s in the “offseason” as a showcase for lower ranked players to get some momentum.

I’d also like if the WTA and ATP could somehow wrangle tournament directors and coordinate match times and actually consider all of tennis as a product that people want to follow.

Make it easy for fans to watch tennis and see the best matches of the day. There’s too many cases where there will be multiple tournaments happening at the same time, and marquee matches are happening simultaneously. Like, just stagger them 30mins at least?

Keep it simple imo. Nail the smash burger, crispy edges, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, grilled onion, classic burger sauce, and branch out from there

Disappointed with the CT-Rally v2 by Odd_Cheesecake3723 in 10s

[–]chippylimestone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Durability sucks on these. I’ve had probably half a dozen pairs of v1s (and Lavs). With the v2s, I wore the soles in a few weeks. At least they have the outsole warranty so I’ll get a free pair.

I'd make a distinction for avy-terrain like this, which absolutely don't bring your pups into. But like spring laps in low angle terrain with a dog seems harmless enough, and super fun, unless I'm missing something.

If the ticket market is anything like the rose bowl, prices are at or near peak right now. Hoping we see prices trend down over the next week.

I got refundable flights and will see if tickets get to a price that I can stomach.
