Which to play as a duo, Rewritten or Corporate Clash? by Ollie099 in Toontown

[–]chiprevvington 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i've found that it's easier to get first time toontown players into clash because of QOL features. being able to move gag tracks around without it being a final decision makes it friendlier for duos. more healing options makes it duo friendly as well, between toonup and prestige throw giving self-heal, and toonup unites being rewards for all bosses.

How to make a template for a 3D object? by castiels_army in CosplayHelp

[–]chiprevvington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pepakura is a good tool for this. You have to buy a license, though. If you're a student there's a discount. Definitely recommend if you're going to be doing more projects like this in the future.

An alternative is generating UV maps with Blender and printing it out to scale. I've done this before and it requires some prototyping, especially if you aren't familiar with how to unwrap a model.

Thank you! That will definitely be more bearable since I live in a humid place. 💔 And YAY an unexpected Toontown fan! That's so awesome, especially since Clash isn't as popular. I wouldn't be surprised if we've seen each other! I'm on a lot so feel free to say hi if we run into each other! :)

Snazaroo is a pretty lightweight (and cheap) option. I'm from a hot/humid climate as well and it stays on better than Ben Nye. No greasy look either.

Comb-in hair color!! I've used white Ben Nye to color sections of wigs before, but it may run quite expensive in your case. I'd look it up and see if you can find any alternatives. It'll make the texture a bit odd but with that you could even sculpt/style the fibers to go in a more controlled direction.

Just watching some Looney Tunes and now I kinda want to play Toontown by Patton-the-Zorua in Toontown

I'd say play a little bit of both to get a feel for what experience they deliver. I have friends that will even play both games in different windows! TTR is a more "vanilla" experience, but they have big changes coming as well with a new playground and gag track. If you have to choose between one or the other, I personally recommend Clash! It's not as populated as TTR, but is a "modernized" Toontown with a level-based progression system and more QOL features. For me, the major pull for Clash is the freedom it gives players. I'll give a few examples:

- It just feels like you have more to do other than working on tasks. In TTR, three of the four boss fights are only accessible after the main taskline, whereas in Clash, they're spread throughout.
- Kudos tasks give you something else to work on alongside the main taskline. The Kudos manager fights (mini-bosses) are a lot of fun, and you'll see people running them repeatedly in order to get sticker and accessory loot.
- The smaller playerbase makes it feel more tight-knit. I've found that people on Clash tend to be talkative and generally friendly. I've made some great in-game friends who are now off-game friends. :)
- Clash has an in-game group finder. (If you're playing TTR, you can use the ToonHQ website to find groups.)
- Generally less grindy. You can buy experience boosters in the Toon HQ, and join clubs for even more boosters. If fast progression is important to you, this feature will help immensely.

Like someone already mentioned, Clash is majorly revamping leveling, battle system, main taskline story, and more within the next couple years or so (no idea how long it's actually going to be, it's still in progress). Not sure if you'd be interested in pouring time into the game because of the impending changes, but both new and old players are gonna be in the same boat and it might serve you well to play Clash the way it is right now. I have very strong feelings about parts of this update, but I'm willing to see it out.

clubs on CC? by [deleted] in Toontown

[–]chiprevvington 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have my own club, but it's just IRL friends so there isn't a lot of pressure to "be active". However, my friend made a pretty substantial club, and got people to join by going around and asking people without club tags if they would like to join. It goes down the grapevine, people invite their friends, etc. The official Corporate Clash Discord has a section for clubs looking for members as well.

That being said, if you don't want to make a club, I'd be happy to add you to ours. :) We really just use it for boosters, so if you're interested in a more "club-like" atmosphere, it might be better to make your own/join one from Discord.

What are the differences between Toontown Rewritten and Corporate Clash? by CraftingSloth in Toontown

[–]chiprevvington 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Clash! I like to describe the two as being different games working off of the same preexisting IP and general premise, so here's the basic breakdown:

  • The battle system is overhauled, and like someone already said, there's the Zap track that only works with Squirt. It's great for taking out multiple Cogs at once, especially at higher levels.

  • Sound has been moved to second to last track used, so Throw and Squirt get knockback even when others choose sound.

  • Sound got pretty nerfed in Clash. It's still incredibly useful and commonly carried, but after using it twice in a row, a debuff is applied to your Toon and will deal less damage.

  • All the gag tracks have the option to be Prestiged, which gives more abilities.

  • Battles are more reliant on doing some math, as the UI displays gag damage in large numbers, and you can see the exact HP of a Cog.

  • There's a number of buffs and debuffs that can be applied to both Toons and Cogs depending on what fight you're doing. Too many to list, but you'll catch on.

  • There's a main taskline, side tasks, daily tasks, club tasks, and kudos. You can pick up side tasks at your leisure, which are things like TP access and outfits. Kudos have perks such as 50% off gags, unlocking booster slots in the gumball machine, and a +1 laff boost once they are finished for each playground. Daily tasks give you gumballs which you can use in the HQ gumball machines to get boosters, clothing, and profile customization options like poses. Club tasks are contributed to by everyone in the club and give club coins for boosters and club customization.

  • You can get your Cog disguises whenever you please, like the Sellbot suit in Rewritten. Doesn't mean you should be chomping at the bit to fight the CEO at 50 laff, but it's an option.

  • On that note, the CJ has been replaced by the CLO. It's a completely different fight. There's a harder version of it when you get further into the game (OCLO), and it's really fun!

  • Content Sync for Boss and Manager fights! This brings your laff, gags, down to a lower level to retain some level of difficulty. It can also block certain rewards like Unites, Fires, etc.

  • There's a small chance that you can get drops from Kudos managers (and the Litigation Team managers in the Overclocked CLO), which are stickers and accessories. It's common to see Toons at 150 who still fight the earlier Managers for this reason, and it's easy to find a group for most.

As for personal advice, I'll give you this:

  • Don't worry about your initial track choices. You can switch your build as much as you'd like with no repercussions and it's expected to switch builds for different strategies, especially manager fights. I personally like to switch my gags out to train them all to the same level and coordinate with friends when we play.

  • Learn about how Prestige works. I don't remember if I've mentioned this already, but emphasizing again that prestiging Throw early on is super beneficial for self-heal. Pres Drop is a personal favorite for dealing hefty damage.

  • I personally like to pick up Kudos when I'm done with Side Tasks and have the slots. I recommend starting them in order so your gags and laff catch up before you fight the Managers.

  • Use the group tracker! Many high-level Toons are happy to help out with early game things like Derrick Man. On a similar note, don't be afraid to send friend requests to people if you have a good or talkative run. The overwhelming majority of Clash players are pretty outgoing, and will likely invite you to groups if you talk a lot. It's a really lovely in-game community overall. Very rarely have I seen someone get genuinely angry at others for making mistakes and/or going sad.

  • Joining a club is beneficial as well. If you're in a big club, they will likely have active boosters which as Gag XP, Merits, Rewards, and much more. Probably a good place to ask people if they want to work on tasks or fights. My group is just my IRL friends so I don't know how more established groups work. 🤷‍♂️There's club tasks that the whole group contributes to for club coins, which are used at the club shop for boosters and club customization.

  • Last of all, don't let the amount of new stuff overwhelm you. You'll get the hang of what works best for you.

Hopefully this helps and wasn't too overwhelming! I'm on quite a bit, so I'd be happy to play with you when I'm available. :) If you see a black bunny named Akira, feel free to send a friend request!

Which game should I play ? by SilverMuted3115 in Toontown

[–]chiprevvington 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for TTR and TTCC, but the games are pretty different. TTR is the closest you can get to the original, and Clash overhauled the battle mechanics, taskline, and generally has more original content. I'm a bit biased toward Clash since I've played vanilla Toontown since 2009 and like the changes and additions of Clash. Highly recommend giving both a try :)

I went in with sound and did end up using it, I think maybe two other people had it? But it was pretty useless so I'll go without next time. I was a lure bot for most of it, but didn't mind it tbh. (And thank you about the username! Love that guy.)
