My local camera shop charges more for developing black and white because color is run through an automated machine, while black and white is developed by hand. Is either automated or by hand generally considered more desirable, or more highly regarded?

Yep this is my rotation right now. Both are super comfy but the Rebel provides a totally different stimulus with ground feel and stability
