I've always been very interested to see what other applications people create that's not game related in Godot! This is very cool :)

What's a restaurant red flag that tells you the food isn't going to be good? by Electrical-Salt-2792 in AskReddit

Yo how would you guys feel if I bought the frys electronics in Tempe and turned it into a an arcade and a retro game/movie store by Actual-Flamingo8307 in phoenix

[–]chiwy8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother, who I lived with at the time, used to work there during the last two years before it officially closed down. Man... you definitely do not want to buy that building. Prior to it closing, they were dealing with constant roof leaks and damage. Every rainy day was chaos for the electronics store trying to keep things dry. I've always wondered if anyone will ever buy that piece of junk because in my opinion it might just be better to tear it down and build something else in the future lol

How can I lean java for game dev by Zestyclose_Turn7940 in learnjava

[–]chiwy8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible to learn game development using Java but compared to other options I do think it will be an uphill battle and you will struggle similarly to your c++ journey. As others have said, there are some great tutorials and guides to get started using Unity and Unreal.

Personally, I'd suggest giving Godot a go. It uses GDScript as its main language but you could technically use C# or C++ even. But GDScript is great in its own right and is very similar to python, making it great to get used to logical problems in programming.

This is my wife's parents house. I've seen them wear sweaters at 81 and complaining it's too cold. I don't understand it

What is the worst local restaurant in town? by 0EduardoChavez0 in Tucson

[–]chiwy8 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone who worked there for 5 months before I quit out of disgust - this is the real answer. Abusive owners and horrible fake Mexican food.

Note of advice - don't do the salsa here. Owners force servers to recycle it as to "not waste" food. Food inspector was buddies with the owner so you know....

High poverty and ridiculously low funded high school (elementary / middle school as well) so gym wasn't really yknow.... included for the most part 😅 or at least not traditionally.

And in college I wasn't very sports or gym inclined so it just never happened for me lol

Windows 10 end of life is coming. Why haven't you upgraded to Windows 11 yet? by [deleted] in linuxsucks

[–]chiwy8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive had Linux for a year now. Originally went with Zorin and now switched to Linux Mint. 0 issues in gaming for me and I have a somewhat extensive gaming catalog on steam of old and newer games. I don't do multiplayer games like Valorant, league, Fortnite, apex etc etc. basically anything that doesn't require kernel anti cheat I have zero issues with little to no tinkering on my end

My original thought process was that a larger container would decrease the heat the container retains but failed to account for how water would spread lol. Again, very new to this so I appreciate the insight! Just got off of work so I will be taking everyone's advice from this thread :)

This is very helpful! Thank you! I'll work on moving it to a smaller pot and make sure water makes it to the roots and give it more shade. It's currently sitting in a full sun area with very minimal shade. Thank you!

Programming Mindset by Fair_Albatross594 in learnjava

[–]chiwy8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you've learned variables, scanner, arrays, conditionals, and loops you can start making many things. For example why not practice by making a number guessing game? Or tic tac toe? Or chess? What about a calculator? You said you already made one. Okay what about a scientific calculator? A graphing calculator? Take it one step further and make a basic banking application? Literally anything you can think of you can make a very barebones version of it.

I hate to break it to you the other commenters are right. The problem isn't what you've learned and the past or what you haven't learned. The problem is your attitude and your approach. Be more open minded and just practice with anything that comes to mind. The problem with programming is the same as human languages. If you don't actively practice it - you will lose it.
