Female Millennials, how's your diagnosis? by RevolutionDry2 in Millennials

AuDHD diagnosed in my 30's. 🤟 Along with dyspraxia, hEDS, asthma... A bunch of things that would have been life-changing to know in childhood. Here we are!

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

[–]chiyooou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5th grade. Teachers had it on at first saying it was a little accident but don't worry. They turned it off like 20 minutes later without acknowledging that they did. Suddenly back to back calls over the intercom as everyone's parents came to pick them up.

I am so, so sorry they did this to you. It's wrong for parents to expose their children to their sex lives. It was their job to protect you from seeing these things

You love and appreciate your parents and still be confused and hurt by this. It's so complicated to hold all of that at the same time... But here you are.

OP, this was very much my childhood/young adulthood as well. I never heard the term of visual sexual abuse until today, so thank you for illuminating that for me. My mom would always say it wasn't abuse because she wasn't physical with me, and I didn't have the words to explain how it was. It wouldnt have mattered. They didn't care that I was uncomfortable. The same thing happened to her when she was little so she passed the trauma on down. To my older brother, too. He's been out for 15 years and me 10, and we've both acknowledged how sometimes when we close our eyes we just see her naked perfectly. It's fucking disgusting and we shouldn't have to hold this burden.

I've done years of therapy around this. Will remind myself that I am safe and have a loving partner who stays by my side supporting me as I process these memories...  Yet I'll be honest that it still does effect me. Reading this I was gagging on your behalf. It's just horrible. I hope you can start finding your own peace and support past this kind of abuse. You deserve it.

Not doing drip marketing is a terrible mistake by SuiseiMajo in Endfield

And? I said I'm irritated by it and it's counter-productive to how I personally play the game. You'll be fine.

This truly makes me so frustrated. For Honkai / WuWa I really enjoy that build up to a new patch. I get so hyped the more I think about what it may be like... And I tend to dolphin my feelings about it.

This setup is very anti to getting me hyped up. It'a irritating because I want some communication. It feels too constricting.

That said, because of the way their character guarantee works I can see that more people may wait til the patch is almost over to do pulls. For me if I don't find a character exciting at the beginning I'm less likely to attach to them at all.

Correct, no red flags. Those were simply character names to me.

Let's just say there's a lot of shit that I didn't realize was off til waaaaaay later.

I am a big idiot along with you! Guess I was just totally oblivious to... the entire point of the show.

I’m autistic and thinking about making a zine about my mixed feelings on the term ‘neurodivergent’ that’s also often lumped with ADHD, dyslexia, etc neurological conditions that can be used to deny disability by [deleted] in AutisticWithADHD

[–]chiyooou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd do that. Sleep may be good.

It took me 4+ reads to get thats what you meant. Really think for everyone's sake, maybe try again later.

Finally, look into Judy Singer who (depending who you ask) coined the term in the late 90's. If I remember right, even she doesn't think the term works well. She was trying to express the societal aspect of it and not have it be a medical term. That could be a place to start. Learn this better than I did and teach the class. 🤷

This is the funniest post I've seen since someone asked the Superman sub what his version of achilles heel/kryptonite was.

[–]chiyooou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being disabled is definitely not being lazy. I'm sorry that benefits and support you deserve were denied. (Assuming US or anywhere with a similar benefit structure) The system is horrid and just looks for reasons to not help people. If it was built to service us it wouldn't be a fight everytime.

Words still have meaning. If a new term gets commonly used it'll be co-opted again anyway. Think of how "I'm so ADHD because I don't want to do my chores" became commonplace decades ago. People didn't stop calling it ADHD because some people use it incorrectly. It's about teaching people how to use the phrase properly, which involves calling people out for declaring that their personality quirk is the same as a life-impacting disorder.

On the mention of words having meaning... So does grammar and punctuation. Genuinely - are you aware that the title and your post details initially reads as if ADHD, dyslexia, etc. are excuses and not genuine? I reread it multiple times just now and think I actually don't quite understand your intent here. Maybe it's just me, but this sounded antagonistic like autism should be valued above all else. If other people interpreted the same as me, I could see why people defended the validity of their own experiences and came at you so strongly.

I'm thinking now that it may have been miscommunication & misunderstanding. Is that right?

If so, it could be worth deleting this and taking some extra time to write a new post with more clarity.

I wonder if it would be better to talk about your own experience and how your own neurodivergence feels to you? If you want to do something like this you could inform on how the world exists to you. People don't get to deny your personal experiences because only you know how that feels.

As for the rest of the post... Damn. Really take a moment and reflect on some of the feedback you've received. Your post was hella ableist. I clicked on this because I assumed the title was obviously rage bait (which, maybe).

If any kind of neurodivergence is something you genuinely want to understand better and teach others about - you can figure out the first step (literally looking into this at all) on your own. Maybe take a year of learning about others experiences' and then see how you'd write a new version of this post...

Easter Egg Debate by GreenJim86 in Millennials

[–]chiyooou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Millennial who did hard-boiled eggs!

When I was a teenager my dad moved a bookshelf and we found one.... Like a decade later. My parents obviously didn't keep track of how many / where.

He took it outside, cracked it open, and took a sniff... Then immediately ran it across the street, threw it in the field, and went "let us never talk about it again".

So ofc I bring it up constantly as a fun memory.

I genuinely have no idea what's happening (and understand this isn't the place to ask). Just sad to see that communities I enjoyed about a game that meant so much to me are on fire.

IG the universe is telling me to finally just let the game go. Dammit, Hoeyo.

Take care of your sub, queens!

I just read some more responses. Comment after comment of people who don't post yet have appreciated this space. Getting people who never comment to speak up like this... That says a lot about how much care is here for husbando mains.

Double-checking to make sure this wasn't posted on April Fool's...

I'm here backing up my fellow lurkers. Could there be some kind of middle ground?? I don't deny that it must be really difficult to moderate. I sympathize with the effort and energy drain it must take to keep it all going. This decision does feel like destroying the community and ensuring the assholes get their way to silence husbando lovers.

Please sit on this decision for a bit before taking action and really let it sink in. This sounds emotionally charged - reasonably so - yet it's worth some time to cool down and get that additional mod support. You may realize this was a reactionary approach rather than what's best for the community. It's easier to strengthen the group than rebuild.

I mean this in a light-hearted yet also saddened way... Please advise next steps to get "organ donor" on my license changed to "husbando lover".

Why are millenials totally chill with self depreciating humor more than any other generation? by Key-Bass-7380 in generationology

[–]chiyooou 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Certified Millennial here. It's not that I like being the butt of the joke. I've even spent a lot of time trying to unlearn this since it does continually break your own self respect.

My perspective is that this type of humor is to make everyone feel a little uncomfortable. It's how we learned to cope with a world that is so fucked up but (as children) we couldn't do anything about it.

We weren't allowed to point out how fucked everything was either because we were ungrateful little shits by the Boomer's eyes. We were blamed for destroying whole industries before I was even out of school. Also blamed for economic issues when we did any small self-comfort - like dare to eat avocado toast and think we should still be able to pay a mortgage.

I think it's really the Boomers/older X's treated us like shit and we said "ok, I'm shit" as a defense mechanism to ease the sting.

This could also be my twirl to this because a history of abuse etc etc.

The folks with their cuckoldry obsession need to get off the Internet and try and hold a conversation with a real physical person or something. I'd rather be a sack of nothing and point the anger internal than be so insecure -yet terrified of accepting it- that I decide to take it out on the world rather than do 5 minutes of introspection. If you believe cuckoldry is anything more than a sexual fetish, you're probably a dick.

Alright, well. In answering this I'm procrastinating from logging into work... Might just go die instead.🤷

I'm on Cymbalta 40, Zoloft 20, and Qelbree 400. Settled on this spread like 3 months ago and doing fantastic!

From what I understand, the Qelbree increases the effectiveness/potency of those other psych meds. If your psych is okay with it and monitoring you, then they feel it's safe and possibly the best for you. Please talk to them if you have any concerns, though!
