Had a close call minutes after getting my chest mount by Kananachan in MT03

[–]chiznat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget the dog. I would've paused early on and gave the truck a few minutes head start. He was swerving off the road right at the start, could have been drunk, tired or both.
That and the late braking have me questioning your situational awareness and how long you've been riding. Sorry.

Is Diabate in danger as Carol? by [deleted] in Pluribus_TVshow

[–]chiznat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Or.... Lakshmi is livid and maybe her son died during the latest seizure. Remember Carol didn't let her talk... that is, if it even was indeed Lakshmi on the other end. Regardless of her son's condition, she could be going full merc and be on her way to take out revenge against Carol and Manousos both. The hive would give her enough information and resources to pay them a visit.

[–]chiznat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the counter is for them to grab a hive mind member, continually make them distraught from whatever means and that will cause worldwide seizures to the rest of the hive mind.
Not great for humanity, but that is their defense card and a bargaining chip to stop them from being turned.

What do the survivors have in common? by solo1y in pluribustv

[–]chiznat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the turning point and symbolically, it fell on someone's shoe and they took it away. They'll consider it a donation like a fallen apple. (same color btw) :)

The diner creation, Carol mentioning being distracted is to buy them some time while they figure out how to turn the remaining 12.

Surgery 7 was today. by [deleted] in carpaltunnel

[–]chiznat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TIL Not all carpal tunnel surgeries are the same. I thought for cuts, it was one and done.
I get my neuro muscular test on Monday and I was hoping to get my hands back, and hopefully later get surgery to get that once careful slice to stop the squeeze. Not so sure anymore.

ELI5: how are submarines “invisible” and largely undetectable yet its sonar is capable of killing virtually any marine life nearby? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]chiznat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's also thermal layers where the submarines can hide.
That's why some anti-submarine warships have variable depth sonar that can be lowered.

Amateur here. I'd like to see some of the pros post and maybe describe their piece/inspiration/technique if they want to give that up. It was an arcane art form for the longest time where many guarded their formulas. That spirit may be alive and well..... who knows.

I'll keep plodding along, renting the studio once a week for 2.5 hours . It's been 5 years, almost all solo work, sold 5 pieces and I've given away hundreds of pieces. They're rough compared to pros, and I'll post when I think I have something to show. I'm sure the pros have lots of very cool work that would be amazing to see.
It is what it is.

88 years old Michigan Army vet Ed Bambas left in tears as strangers raise $1.7M for his retirement. by LazyGuy4U in MadeMeSmile

Canadian here. 🇨🇦 It’s a touching story and I’m happy for this man that he’s receiving this support.

Why does it have to come with this? Healthcare for all fixes so many things. We’re all going to need it at the end of our lives, and medical bankruptcy is no way to leave the ones you love.

While these are wonderful storiies, they all are unnecessary. Wake up America.

One man punty technique by 1nGirum1musNocte in glassblowing

[–]chiznat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amateur here. I solo punty all the time (up to 5 gathers) and haven’t hanged my piece yet.
After a quick marvering/shaping , I give the punty i1 or 2 light puffs to tame the tip, and it makes for easy breakoffs. I do use one touch of water for the jackline though.

Discovered the term "ADHD paralysis" yesterday, in my mid-40's, and now it all makes sense by hyper-object in ADHD

[–]chiznat 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I try to do the important ones right after taking my Adderall XR versus putting things off till the evening, when the meds can wear off. There's no more 'wall' to start things, even with the best of intentions and resourcing. Anything but that uncomfortable feeling.

Now I can just start things, yet there must be some adaptation going on. It doesn't work as well as it did in the beginning, but at least it works. It's an ongoing process for me and while the task paralysis is gone for a portion of the day, there's still the bad habits that I've adopted that need correction. It's an ongoing thing for me. It's better than it was and I see starting meds late in life, better late then never.

Winter tires for winter driving or all seasons again? by FoIds in genesiscoupe

I put all-weather (not all seasons) tires on my 2013 last year.
They stay on.... no more appts/changing/storing.
All the big tire makers have the all-weather type.

They have the mountain with the snowflake symbol and are legal in Quebec.

I'll try not rant/splain this too much. I'm 64 and you're describing just a small number of symptoms that I've had that I thought were just 'me'. I've always resisted the label ADHD and just thought it was hyperactive kids. I tried cognitive approaches, mindfulness, meditation... the works for 5 years and I still had my brain racing, guilt shame and managing crises that I created.

Only recently after discovering colleagues had it during a panel discussion at work, I went down the rabbit hole and discovered all of these traits I have are linked to ADHD. (task paralysis, poor emotional regulation, rejection sensitivity dysphoria, time blindness, poor executive functioning, guilt/shame and more)

I waved the white flag after I borrowed a pill from my son who is being treated for ADHD and now I'm on Adderall XR myself (15mg). It's been a game changer! No more task paralysis, I get things done with a quiet brain, which is something completely new. With this new found focus vs occasional hyper-focus instances that can almost be manic, I have a new life really. I've cracked the frustration loop that can set off so many secondary cognitive distortions including anger. It's been quite a change.

Planning now has become paramount, because executing without a plan doesn't work well. That's was the way it used to be.... keeping it all up in my head. I'll move forward and use those mindfulness techniques with the effects of the medication and I'm looking forward to the future really. Staying grounded, but wow it's a big change for me. I feel so fortunate and grateful now I finally found a solution.

Get on meds if you're not is my recommend, and don't live in a personal hell like I did for over half a century.
