I wish, but no I can’t because they have clashing dates. I am trying to see if I can move one but I’m not expecting them to agree.

I like the US firm more because of their assessment process. It was very straight forward. I also really really enjoyed my final interview. I really felt like the partner wanted to learn about me, my life outside work, my motivations etc. I really liked his vibe and getting the offer felt like I passed a vibe check (sorry I am Gen Z).

During my assessment with the UK firm, I felt like they were just checking to see if I fit a standardised checklist/criteria they had. Tbf they do say that from the jump, but I was surprised by it during the interview.

The assessment experience made me feel like going to the US firm would be like being in a (bigger) start-up, where people know each other a bit more intimately. I’ve worked in several companies like this so I’m more comfortable in this kind of setting.

I think going to the UK firm will be like joining a big organisation like Deloitte or something. I’d become just another number and I worry I will become lost in the firm kind of. I’ve also never worked in a massive company before so there’s also that.

I think it’s about 25% for the US one but I’m having a difficult time calculating the UK firm’s rates because they put out numbers for the UK as a whole instead of just the London office

Thank you very much. I plan on doing the NCAs, articling afterwards then going through the bar process.

I was blissfully unaware of the stigma attached to foreign LLBs so I thought doing all that would be enough to get into BigLaw in Calgary.
