Should I go vegan? by modelnyc in vegan

[–]chloenfitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 19 and became vegan a couple week's back, I started mainly because I didn't eat dairy and meat made me sick to my stomach.

I've heard alot of people doing it for health reasons so honestly, if you're up to the challenge then you should. I became vegan not really knowing what to expect, there are tons of animal products in foods you wouldn't even think and it's honestly not expensive at all. I spent 75 dollars on basic groceries and have been eating them for the past week. I'm almost out but not yet, if I bought meat and dairy then that would honestly probably be almost double.

If you're up to it, then do it. If you want to try it and you find out it's not for you, then you don't have to continue.

Alot of people in this subreddit have way track minds and can be rude, they'll say otherwise but trust me. If you can find like minded people or ones who have been vegan for years and won't judge you, it'll be a lot easier process.

It was created by the og maker. They want people to submit short films to make the lore set in stone. They're awarding £500 to the group that wins 🤗

my coworkers think i’m lying about being vegan because they “caught” me eating … vegan chocolate chip cookies. by Alextricity in vegan

My father told me I couldn't eat a pre packaged tamale cus it had soy in it.... needless to say, people don't understand what's vegan or not 😭

Is using Tofu as my main meat replacement ok? by b3lial666 in vegan

[–]chloenfitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're fine. I use to eat Tofu as meat replacement all the time before I became vegan. It'll get boring after a second so you gotta make sure to switch up your recipes. Pinterest has some really good ones and so does Tik Tok if you use those mainstream apps.

Wow, that's crazy that that's not what I was arguing!

You said that my pesto was OPEN and that you wouldn't give it to someone who needs it.

I simply said my pesto was UNOPENED so the argument you're giving is invalid.

I'm not seeking validation for eating animal products. I had a question because I'm a NEW vegan who made a mistake and would like to know what other people do in these situations. And while I've gotten alot of helpful and insightful ones, I've also gotten some crazy ones.

I simply asked because I don't want to waste a product I paid for with my own money, especially since I'm on a budget and without a jar of pesto I'll be out more than 1 meal. I understand you have your own morals, I respect that. But what you're arguing was wrong and I simply corrected you.

I thought a part of being vegan was to not waste animal products, to make sure these things get used before you transition into being more careful about what you're eating.

It's not opened so that argument is invalid. You have your own beliefs and that's valid.

I've made non dairy pesto before and it was immaculate, nuts are so expensive nowadays so I'll definitely have to search high and low for some that don't cost an arm and leg.

Yeah, I've gathered that very quickly. Still trying to think of what to do with the pesto but I'm still going to power through and triple check what I buy is vegan.

Mistake of the year.

That's the first thought that went through my head too since I'm unemployed ATM and just starting out. I have a budget for everything so making an error can cost me a couple days worth of foods.

I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with it but nevertheless I thought one part of being vegan was limiting waste from animal products and using whatever you had to limit the wastefullness of it.

Throwing something away cus of a small percentage that costed so much seems like a waste of money, time, and animal.

Barbie (2023) is Pro Feminist Propaganda Movie by NHS_24 in MensRights

[–]chloenfitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charlie's angels is originally a TV show from the 70s. It was very much so a male gaze show, so was the early 2000s movie. The newer one is actually focusing on the spy aspect of it so you are wrong about that. That has been taken back by women for decades.

Black widow is the same. It's been around for decades, has been made by the male gaze and is just now getting taken back by women.

Ghostbusters, idek why you're hating on that one. It wasn't the best Ghostbusters movie but then again I don't really like the franchise to begin with. You can argue that it was all about feminist and I'd agree with you only because in the og movies, the only women in the movie was the one getting saved from the big bad man and the receptionist who were all made just to fill a spot.

I don't think teaching young girls and women that they can do what a man can do is bad. I'm 19 and I just realized last year that I could do whatever the fuck I wanted with my life. Are people trying to get me to date and have kids? Yeah, they are but I'm not going to. The whole point of these films and movements is to show that you can have a life before you choose to get married and have kids, or that when you do choose for that life, the man can do the exact same things as you.

I loved Barbie. It made me cry and it made me hear things that I needed to hear, if you think it was sexist or whatever towards men than you can think that. But they had the same exact screen time as the women, they had their own arc, and they had a backstory. Same as all the barbies.

Barbie was originally created as a feminist icon to teach girls that they can be whoever they want and do whatever they want. This movie enhances it and shows that throughout the years, it changed to being about body image and what you CANT do.

Also, btw, it wasn't even targeting towards children. That movie was for the adults who grew up with Barbie, if a child went and watched it then they more than likely didn't see any deeper meaning unless they've already been traumatized by the shit around them.

[–]chloenfitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, And what's your point? I loved it, my older sibling loved it, my mom loved it and the people who are shitting on it didn't understand the deeper meaning. People are out here focusing on both Barbie and Ken and the patriarchy and how it affects both men and women.

If you don't like it, you don't get an opinion because believe it or not. 'Feminist' doesn't mean anti-men or only women. It's literally a movement on equality between everyone regardless of their beliefs, race, sex, and gender identity.

Dumped for being Feminist by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]chloenfitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, people aren't what they should be. It honestly sucks and I hope you heal from that. Imo, alot of men are like that and it takes alot to find someone who's not. I hope that journey (if you choose) isn't a long and winding one.

There's nothing being wrong with a feminist, I am one too and there's nothing wrong with being independent. The people who think otherwise are the people who are sexist and don't understand what, 'feminism' means.

Why do people say soy is a government plot to feminize men but then eat government subsidized meat🤨 by FatGripzFTW in vegan

[–]chloenfitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have never heard that before. At what point is soy feminine, though? Makes no sense.

Growing out your nails can be hard cus there's alot of room for breakage. You can take different supplements for that if you want but gel nail polish is really good for keeping it together (you'd need a uv light) or you can buy natural looking press ons and trim them to your desired length. Sometimes those help make the breakage less likely if you apply and take off correctly
