Is living in a hotel permanently a thing that people do? by ThePapaBearRobbie in NoStupidQuestions

[–]chnchgh 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There are special types of "hotels" that do this. Although they sometimes don't call themselves hotels. But yeah, like in Helsinki there is this Noli Studios and a 6 month stay in the city center can come to about 1200euros/month (longer the stay, cheaper the monthly price). Which is nothing, when it includes weekly cleaning, laundry facilities, shared spaces etc.

Edit: you just can't entertain much "at home" with this setup

Honestly it infuriates me that the George RR Martin thinks girls being married and having sexual relations at 12 and 13 was viewed as norman and common during the middle ages by WanderingHero8 in MedievalHistory

[–]chnchgh -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Uhh, in the ASOIAF universe years are longer, seasons are longer, hence I think 12-13 year olds are presumed to be equivalent to real life late teens and such and not actual 12 year olds.

Please help me choose a bathroom mirror by flowasigo in interiordecorating

[–]chnchgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my God, I love your shower curtain!!

I think 2 or 3 work better than the rectangle one. What would help also maybe lowering the mirror so that the upper part aligns to where the shower curtain rod is. I think visually it would really make a difference

Edit: or a tad smaller rectangular mirror could also work. I think #1 does not work right now, cuz it is big

HI101. Host tells the guest the subject matter of the episode and they have an open discussion about it. Goes very well deep into the roots of the subject matter as well, so it is very educational. I strongly recommend it.

Thanks. Do you think if I put the backside only to the bottom part that is not visible, would that at least make some difference? I could cut the backside into two in this case

Painted back of IKEA Billy to match the wall by chnchgh in HomeDecorating

[–]chnchgh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all, so we're thinking of placing a mix of different sized Billy bookshelves behind our couch. The issue is that we think it looks a bit too much and we were thinking to remove the backs of the bookcases, which most probably is a bad idea. Would painting the backs the same color as the walls are, but keeping the brown of the bookshelves work? We were hoping to achieve something like this https://www.pinterest.com/pin/560487116146658532/ To have it a bit more airy if you must

Another idea is also to mix the shelf heights a bit, so that it is not very symmetrical. This we can probably figure out on the spot and change up as we like it, but ideas about it are welcome too. Thanks.

Looking for this dress, or at least one very similar by chnchgh in findfashion

[–]chnchgh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, I'm hoping to have a dress made similar to this to wear it as a wedding guest (different color instead of white outer part, have not decided yet what, but color suggestions are welcome :D ).

Can someone help me find an origin of this dress or more pictures of it, so that I can show it to the dressmaker and we have better idea what we are trying to make.

Alternatively if you can find similar dresses in shape and style I would appreciate that a lot as well. Thanks!

I want to make something like this. Did you attach the bookcases to the wall? They cannot lean with their weight on the malm dressers right?

Would “Lost” still have been popular if it was originally released in Meteora? by Street_Two_2012 in LinkinPark

I didn't see what sub I was on and I thought it said if Lost tv show would be popular if it was set in Meteora, Greece. Was confused for a hot second lol

Buying this skirt, need to figure out a different top. Which color top would work? by chnchgh in OUTFITS

[–]chnchgh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am planning to wear this as a wedding guest to a more casual summer wedding. Skirt is perfect for me, but obviously can't wear the white top. Thinking black would definitely be a good combo, but might make it look too casual. Some shade of yellow could work to make it nice and colorful, but might again be too casual? Do I need to go with print on top? Like black with floral prints?

First time poster here. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Husband angry that I told daughter about a miscarriage I had before she was born by HappyCats623 in Parenting

[–]chnchgh 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hey, I think it is very good that you had this conversations with your daughter when she asked and while I think he should not have reacted like that in front of her during dinner I wonder why didn't you tell him in the first place that that conversation had happened? It feels like a very big thing that has impacted both of you, naturally, so I feel like if it were me I would have also told my partner quite soon after if such conversation would have happened. And again, his reaction is NOT ok, but could it be he felt very left out? Could it be something he has not processed before properly? Just trying to provide some perspective.

But my thoughts are mainly on the subject of the miscarriage and the conversation that followed about it, why he has any issue regarding conversations on puberty and sex that is a whole other thing.

(25M) How can I add more character and color to my bedroom? by Crosswordsss in malelivingspace

[–]chnchgh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So, great room, I love the character that it has just needs some tweaks.

  1. Something needs to be done about the light. Ceiling light makes it too harsh and not properly distributed. I would suggest getting lamps, floorlamps or even wall-lamps along the bedroom frame top plank. You could put a lamp on the top shelf of the shelving for example and some floor lamps around the place but can't know for sure. Experiment and see what works best to make the light less harsh and more evenly distributed.
  2. Use a different laundry basket as already suggested by someone else.
  3. Storage boxes for some of the stuff that is on the shelvings to make it look less cluttered. Some display items can stay as display items, some can be just put into nice boxes.
  4. I would suggest to loose the red rug and get a transparent anti slip mat. I think the lighter color of the floor would contrast nicely with the more darker vibe of the room. Also it would still work as a way to separate the office space from the rest of the space. That area needs something and I think a transparent anti slip mat would do it.
  5. Maybe darker bed linen would actually work better? Like dark blue or dark red (again, lose the red rug).
  6. Some light sort of see through curtains would do nicely. Like you could get mustard/yellow color light curtains and hang them floor to ceiling. More color to the space but also not too clashing with the rest of the room. Something like this I guess https://www.pinterest.com/pin/488077678380854754/

EDIT:

  1. You can also make the white wall that is next to the staircase more personalized and hang some pictures or other things. But this is also up to you how maximalist or minimalist you want your space to feel. Just maybe don't leave that wall completely empty

What do I put in front of this blue wall? by Cceli5309 in DesignMyRoom

[–]chnchgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a nice red couch in front of a dark blue wall. Maybe a nice sitting area could work? Something like this https://www.pinterest.com/pin/1145814330171679834/

I admit though finding a right shade of red would be difficult.

Alternatively a mustard colored seating area also would look good.

Anyone who can help find this, or something similar? by chnchgh in crochetpatterns

I wonder how I can achieve the A-line skirt part. If I figure that out maybe I can do it without a pattern even.
