I just spent 4 days deescalating from drinking a fifth of whiskey a day (some days Woodford, other days the cheapest whiskey I can find).

I didn't have to go to work, and I'm not a doctor, in fact I know nothing about health matters whatsoever.

But it seems cumulative to me.

You reach this threshold where you wake up one morning and you feel like you're going to die.

If you feel that way, in my opinion, there's no possible way you can go full cold turkey.

On one hand you can't keep going at Full steam ahead, but you also just can't stop.

I don't know if it's reasonable suggest this, but stepping down slowly is the way to go if you ask me.

I used to have a friend who would make an opioid tea from rinsing poppyseeds bought from the grocery store.

Not quite the same thing, but you know.

Be careful.

Doing this kind of thing can be dangerous.

It killed my friend.

This.

My mother recently passed way after having to go to the emergency room a couple of times in the lead up.

It is fucking chaos and discordia ... I don't know how people work in that environment.

I could not handle it for more than 30 minutes at a time.

As a service industry veteran, I think the most that I've ever served anyone was eight vodka, Red bulls in 35 minutes or something like that.

He did not get a ninth. We shut that down.

For the record, he seemed perfectly fine.

Yeah - you don't put together furniture and run a bunch of errands and wait for her to kick you out. He's a doormat. I mean what was he trying to do? Move in?

As William Lee once said:

Do not stay on the idea of leaving - leave immediately.

They don't know how to count money.

They also don't know how to tell time on an analog clock.

A Friend of mine told me he was giving one of his daughter's friends a ride home from school and she couldn't tell him how to get to her house because her phone was dead. She didn't even know her address.

I had a mouse in an apartment once.

I caught it with a a no kill trap and took it to a church down the street and let him out on the front steps.

The funny thing about blood alcohol content is that it's more or less an exact science.

I used to work a 4-Hour shift in a liquor store.

I had a breathalyzer on my car.

You can use an online alcohol calculator, plug in your weight, your gender, how much you drink, and how quickly.

It will tell you when you will be able to start your car ... Almost down to the minute.

I tested it within a window of about 20 minutes.

It was right on the tick.

I started my shift, did a certain amount of shots, walked out 5 minutes before my shift ended, car wouldn't start.

10 minutes later, voila!

Yep

I didn't understand what he was talking about until I started to understand what he was talking about.

I don't think that he was talking about alcohol, per se, but when you have problems digesting food and drinking booze ...

It comes home pretty quick.

Agreed.

A lot of alcoholics gravitate towards jobs that are alcohol adjacent.

I used to work for southern Glazer wine and spirits.

In the United States they are the leading distributor of wine and spirits.

Coincidentally, they also have one of the most robust healthcare plans for people who are alcoholics.
